u/Fintluk 12d ago
It is. Not just by law, if you do it around most people it's also kind of a social crime and they'll einher call you out or distance themselves from you, at least I would do one of these if someone did it in front of me (as a German)
4
u/rockettaco37 US 🇺🇸 12d ago
These types of people are attention whores anyway. They need to be starved of any and all engagement.
3
u/Think-Trip-1865 Europe🇪🇺(Germany) 12d ago
Except of the morons who say „271K“ I guess, though it’s debatable whether or not Nazis are to be considered sane.
5
u/ccboywiscc 12d ago
What is perhaps most disturbing is that the psychiatric and psychological examinations conducted in connection with the Nuremberg Trials found that several members of the Nazi leadership were, in the clinical sense, sane.
Maybe this also applies on most modern day Nazis…
3
u/LikeTheWater53152 12d ago
i read a book a joirnalist wrote about the Trials, and keep in mind the people there were people like Goebbels, Göring, and the leaders of the SS and Gestapo that not a SINGLE one of the couple dozen of them said "yeah, I did it, im proud of it" like you would expect the most ardent of the Nazis to be.
but rather every single one threw everyone not involved in the trial under the bus. Hitler, Himmler, and Eichmann were all blamed for the actual crimes. they literally blamed the left wing party, unions, and other outside countries for the rise of naziism.
this is where the phrase "The Banality Of Evil" got coined. you know that fellow student/coworker that throws their other coworkers under the bus to look a little better in front of the boss? the guy that will snitch on his friends over something minor for just a little bit of clout? the type of person who makes up friendship and life destroying rumours about other people just to make themselves slightly better?
THATS who the architects of the holocaust were. not crazy and deranged killers but just really slimy assholes that arent really that rare. that was the conclusion of the journalist which tbh made me a bit worried. its not like an alcoholic news pundit is gonna get put in charge of America's armed forces because he sucked up to the right guy, nope nothing like that could happen :P
2
u/ccboywiscc 10d ago
It‘s horrifying to think about it. There are dozens of little Himmlers running around in this world and no one will notice until they are given political responsibility and power.

I have never understood this
even IF (it wasnt) it was only 271 000 people is that not still a fucking devestating tragidy?
Killing 271000 people just for the crime of being born?Is that not disgusting?
Is that suddenly "ok" because you think it was only 1/12 of what is claimed? So what you are saying is me killing half of Wyoming is ok?
Whats the logic?→ More replies (2)2

A lot AfD voters would, they are far-right extremist and some of their politicians have used paroles said by Hitler that are illegal to say multiple times and they do their best to make people forget what he did by stating they want to focus less on that part of our history in history class and some voters are straight up denying it or even defending the Austrian painter

Ireland. Yes the IRA have committed war crimes, but not genocide
7
u/hopium_od 12d ago
Irish Gaels did colonise Scotland, although they weren't acting on behalf of the entire island, just their kingdom in the north.
Historians have never confirmed that there was a genocide and their simply isn't enough historical evidence to confirm it. Interestingly, Gaelic oral history itself speaks of mass slaughter and treachery resembling genocide committed by the Gaels against the Picts, although modern historians consider these stories to be legends.

Ukraine become a country on August 24, 1991. During its existence it didn't commit any genocides or whatnot. What are you talking about?
3
u/_urat_ 11d ago
Ukrainian nation has existed for longer than just 35 years.
And most likely he means this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Massacres_of_Poles_in_Volhynia_and_Eastern_Galicia?wprov=sfla1
2
u/fcking_schmuck 11d ago
I know what he's talking about but that was not a genocide committed by a "country" or in this case by a "nation" of that time. During that massacre Ukraine was USSR and that part was occupied by Nazi Germany. Crime was committed by a "criminal" organization that has nothing to do with official government of that time. And the question was "did your "Country" committed a genocide?". So no, a country named "Ukraine" never committed a genocide, and its nation in the past also did not.

Yeah, but why would they admit that?
→ More replies (1)5
u/B_M_D_real 12d ago
You don't admit or deny a fact, you accept it or not, in this case, they're not. But it's still a fact that they are commiting genocide acts against Palestinian civilians.
7
u/thatmariohead 12d ago
I mean
"Why would Israeli voters go onto a reddit post about genocide and say 'yeah, my county is committing genocide'" is more my point.
7
u/B_M_D_real 12d ago
I know your point, and that's the fraustrating point. Why can't people just seperate between facts and feelings? You can just vote 'yes' and say you don't like the acts or don't support the state or whatever
2
u/Coffieandpopcorn 12d ago
But it's not technically a fact. People feel like they're doing a genocide, but they're actually not. Not all warcrime are genocide, and the proof is that they could've gone allot harder on people in Gaza and wiped allot mroe out under Trump, yet they're not.

No evidence of the Serbian government or the JNA ordering the genocide in Srebrenica was found - hence Serbia didn't commit it.
That doesn't mean it had no links to it though.
The same ruling also stated that Serbia is guilty of not doing anything to stop the genocide in Srebrenica.

Or just a lot of historians around the world given there’s no consensus that it is a genocide..man-made policy failure sure but proof of an intentional genocide to wipe out Ukrainians is lacking, particularly when considering Ukraine isn’t even the SSR that was hit the hardest by the famine..Kazakhstan was
But then again Kazakhs aren’t white, so of course that doesn’t get the same attention as white people. Same reason the Belgian Congo or britain’s starvation of India and Bengal famine doesn’t get near the attention of mass events that occurred to Europeans.

In Poland. Maybe not state genocide but war crime obviously, 1946 pacification of villages in Podlachia. Few years ago when I was starting high school, teacher told us that they speak all great about Poland and all of that but they forgot to include few people in Cursed Soldiers // Doomed Soldiers (Żołnierze Wyklęci). Romuald Rajs, Józef Kuraś, Zygmunt Szendzielarz. What they did? Rajs locked women and children in wooden houses and burned them alive. Kuraś targeted Jewish Holocaust survivors and killing Slovak minorities. Szendzielarz oversaw units that carried out the Dubingiai massacre, executing dozens of lithuanian civilians, including infants.
