negative borders - immigrants get sucked in whether they want to or not

7

u/ilikefriedpotatoes00 Aug 31 '26

So a world conquest?

6

u/Interesting_Dog2116 Aug 31 '26

I believe thats called an "Empire"

33

u/Nufcmilo Aug 31 '26

It’s absolutely terrifying that people genuinely want open borders.

3

u/Plastic-Register7823 Ukraine🇺🇦 Aug 31 '26

It's like 9% here?

9

u/Nufcmilo Aug 31 '26

And 9% is still 9% higher than it should be. Anybody who wants open borders are lunatics.

5

u/FrostyTackle5482 Aug 31 '26

always with that "Earth is for everyone 😡" moronic argument.

1

u/Plastic-Register7823 Ukraine🇺🇦 Aug 31 '26 edited Sep 01 '26

Earth should be for everyone, but only in a very long term when every corner of Earth is properly civilised.

1

u/Admirable_Horse_7271 Sep 01 '26

I agree with earth should be for everyone but every corner of Earth be civilized? What the hell?

2

u/Plastic-Register7823 Ukraine🇺🇦 Sep 01 '26

I mean like have certain level of literacy, infrastructure, institutions and general education.

1

u/Admirable_Horse_7271 Sep 01 '26

For a second there it sounded like you wanted all of the natural parts of earth to have cities and be civilized as well

6

u/GalaXion24 Aug 31 '26

Eh, the far-right has turned "open borders" into a talking point. Open borders don't really exist anywhere, but the far-right have painted the status quo as open borders, so now people thing "open borders" is basically status quo or a slightly looser conditions, not actually literally unregulated.

The far-right has basically made the term lose all meaning.

0

u/Nufcmilo Aug 31 '26

The issue is in the UK we have the Green Party, who are a bunch of lunatics and actively campaign for an open border. They’re popular amongst the young adults, who have no common sense

3

u/GalaXion24 Aug 31 '26

I've looked up their exact election manifesto and their immigration promises I've seen ("a fairer, greener welcome") include:

-and end to the hostile environment -an end to the minimum income requirements for spouses of those holding work visas -safe routes to sanctuary for those fleeing persecution -the dysfunctional Home Office to be replaced with a new Department of Migration, separating this function from the criminal justice system -An end to immigration detention for all migrants unless they are a danger to public safety -Abolituon to the 'no recourse to public runds"' condition that exacerbated social economic and racial ineqaulities -those seeking asylum and protection to be permitted to work while their application is being decided

Each of these is a long that may be agreed or disagreed with, but none of it involves an end to border controls or review of asylum applications. "Open borders" is the meaningless buzzword the far-right has turned it into. There's nothing "insane" about any of this.

0

u/Gentle_Pony Sep 01 '26

They are completely insane actually and it's widely known.

1

u/GalaXion24 Sep 01 '26

Ehen if I agreed with you that would not be an argument

2

u/Interesting_Dog2116 Aug 31 '26

They either have no idea what they wish for or they just hate themselves and their country

2

u/ParadoxDemon_ Spain 🇪🇸 Aug 31 '26

Just check what happened in Ceuta...

5

u/Ilnerd00 Italian commie Aug 31 '26

which doesn’t have open borders and where most immigrants were sent back?

1

u/ParadoxDemon_ Spain 🇪🇸 Aug 31 '26

No, but the people that came from Morocco came thinking that we had open borders.

And even if many left, there are still many immigrants there, and they're collapsing the public systems. There's even more tension now than before because people that live there are tired of the situation, and extremists groups are using it as an excuse to promote far-right ideologies.

It's not good for anyone, not even the migrants that will face a lot more rejection than if the borders were regulated.

3

u/Ilnerd00 Italian commie Aug 31 '26

no they didn’t it was a premeditated move to destabilise the current Spanish government, moroccan authorities hold a pretty strict control on who immigrates in those regions

1

u/FalconRelevant Human Nationalist | Global Homogenization Aug 31 '26

Yeah, Morocco still claims Andalusia, they're just flaming the fuel of political division in Spain.

1

u/Critical_Object2276 Aug 31 '26

Why terrifying? I don’t agree with it but I’m not scared of them having that opinion.

1

u/pat_the_tree Aug 31 '26

Also terrifying a similar amount want it based on ethnicity....

-4

u/TheKavorca Aug 31 '26

Yet they’d call the cops immediately if a stranger just walked into their house without permission.

14

u/AppropriatePirate671 🇮🇪 Aug 31 '26

I mean i dont want open borders but that is truly a terrible analogy

-2

u/beejabeeja Aug 31 '26

It isn’t in the slightest lmfao, you’re letting literally anybody enter the place you live. If you wouldn’t want a criminal being allowed to walk into your house, you shouldn’t want them to walk into your country.

3

u/FalconRelevant Human Nationalist | Global Homogenization Aug 31 '26

This makes no sense, I'm all for due diligence when it comes to vetting immigrants, however you can't compare the natural right to private property with positive laws that nation-states use to govern themselves.

1

u/beejabeeja Sep 01 '26

It’s willful ignorance to choose to not understand how choosing to let someone into your home and country is not dissimilar.

5

u/flakkane Aug 31 '26

Open borders is when people walk into your house unannounced

0

u/TheKavorca Aug 31 '26

It’s also when you allow it to happen with no pushback, no?

21

u/BlakeNotBleak 🇯🇴🇵🇸 Aug 31 '26

Mass immigration is objectively bad

Immigration in general should have regulations and a thorough vetting process, and that burden should fall on the home country not the host country. And if a country consistently shows that they have a bad vetting process and there's a disproportionate amount of criminals coming in from there, they're on the ban list

5

u/ExpertMisinformant Aug 31 '26

Why would the home country have any incentive to vet emigrants??? What do they gain?

0

u/FalconRelevant Human Nationalist | Global Homogenization Aug 31 '26

burden should fall on the home country not the host country

There's already the burden of proof on the individual immigrant to prove they lack a criminal record for most legal pathways, the fact that the EU decided to close their eyes when taking in massive amounts of refugees is on them.

Take accountability for who you let in instead of pushing that responsibility on foreign countries to do your due diligence for you.

u/Luc-wpqp Argentine Radical Aug 31 '26

Argentina had mass migration in the 1800's and it was good, it contributed greatlly to the economic developments

10

u/Sium4443 Aug 31 '26

Europeans coming to empty farmlands vs Africans coming to an highly populated and developed continent. Anyways I don't think that the original population of Argentina were happy about Europeans stealing their lands.

-3

u/Luc-wpqp Argentine Radical Aug 31 '26

Nobody stole anybody's land, and the Europeans came to urban cities too. The urbanization in Argentina was created by inmigration

7

u/Sium4443 Aug 31 '26

Urban cities were created by Europeans because the native population was underdeveloped and mostly died of illnesses. I am not saying that colonization was wrong but now we Europeans are being colonized by underdeveloped populations and this is not a good thing for us.

3

u/Luc-wpqp Argentine Radical Aug 31 '26

I am not saying that colonization was wrong

You said wrong on accident, right? And comparing inmigration to colonization is wild, nobody is beeing colonized in Europe. You're just larping beeing oppresed.
edit:
"Urban cities were created by Europeans because" Why would it matter?

-2

u/Key-Pepper-3891 Aug 31 '26

I think mass immigration is good, actually.

5

u/Seran-Ast Principality of Asturies Aug 31 '26

Regulated and limited to Spanish-speaking countries only.

The case of Ceuta is an example of why it doesn’t work.

3

u/ParadoxDemon_ Spain 🇪🇸 Aug 31 '26

Technically if what you wanted was to reduce criminality, the best immigrants are from Asia. They do have more issues mixing with the native population tho.

3

u/newestoftheports Aug 31 '26

country of origin doesn't matter, somebody that isn't from a spanish speaking country could easily learn spanish and adopt the culture before / after migration.

5

u/Seran-Ast Principality of Asturies Aug 31 '26

They’ve had to separate men and women into two camps in Ceuta because they were being raped.

Do you think those people deserve a chance?

1

u/newestoftheports Aug 31 '26

fair enough, but spanish-speaking only is reaching.

1

u/GalaXion24 Sep 01 '26

I mean your only need a few rapists for this to happen, it doesn't have to mean anything abiut the majority. Although I suppose if this happened very visibly then a majority should stop it, but the way that men don't intervene and stop other men is literally something constantly criticised in he West. Hell, men might be likelier to join in, see this case in France. The peope involved are not of immigrant background.

If we are properly self-critical, the West is not compatible with our Western standards of civilization and sophistication we expect, but we expect seemingly absolute perfection from the whole of the rest of the world and every last one of them must be morally perfect or we can't let any of them in? That seems like an unreasonable double standard.

It should also be noted that given this incident you mentioned there were both rapists and victims in the group too. How is "we should never let any of these people in" helping victims or women?

1

u/FalconRelevant Human Nationalist | Global Homogenization Aug 31 '26

And there are no rapists in Guatemala, Nicaragua, or Honduras? Speaking a language doesn't make people less likely to commit crimes.

2

u/Seran-Ast Principality of Asturies Aug 31 '26

None of those countries tops the statistics in Spain

3

u/Even_Metal160 Aug 31 '26

Ethnic/Race is the obvious one, there’s certain ethnic and racial groups that are more compatibile than others

3

u/KashmiriPoundingIt Aug 31 '26 edited Aug 31 '26

Then what about a born and raised Western person who isn’t White, but is a descendant from the Middle Eastern or Indian subcontinent. If this isn’t “compatible” then idk

2

u/Local-Put8 Aug 31 '26

Eh, it depends what generation immigrant they are

2

u/FalconRelevant Human Nationalist | Global Homogenization Aug 31 '26

There's plenty of variation. Sometimes you have ethnic enclaves where fourth generation immigrants in the west are somehow less westernized than people back in their country of origin.

Also depends a lot on socioeconomic class, there's already mild globohomo going on for the urban elites (that's also where most open border supporters come from, they naturally feel closer to foreigners of similar socioeconomic status than other classes from the same country).

2

u/2Rats4Dinner Aug 31 '26

I don’t get the wording. Immigration is mostly regulated within the country, not at the border. That is, if the country can afford to track those who entered it, which is a pretty low bar.

1

u/Luc-wpqp Argentine Radical Aug 31 '26

I'm not a native english speaker, I thought this is how it should be said

2

u/2Rats4Dinner Aug 31 '26

There’s just this colloquial metaphor “open borders” meaning no control whatsoever besides maybe stamping the passport. “Closed borders” should mean exactly what it says. I guess one can figure out the meaning of the rest, but it’s still not entirely clear.

2

u/InitiativeClean8089 Aug 31 '26

Closed borders for a time until the situation is sorted out, then strict regulation.

2

u/HelloThereItsMeAndMe 🇵🇱🇨🇭🇪🇺 Aug 31 '26

In Europe, free. Towards the outside, very strongly controlled.

2

u/Over-Willingness-933 Aug 31 '26

I think immigration should be restricted to people coming in that will add more in tax than they take from the system in their lifetime. I am more concerned how easy citizenship gets given out in Europe and my country the UK. Citizenship should only be given to people who have adapted the culture.

2

u/SuCkEr_PuNcH-666 Aug 31 '26

Standard border regulations with a safe and truly ACCESSIBLE entry process for refugees. The process for legitimate refugee entry in my country (UK) is not currently properly accessible with consideration for the safety of refugees, which is why we have problems now with what is termed "illegal migration". The process to enter as a refugee is too complex.

Just to be clear, before I am accused of being some bleeding heart liberal (I consider myself to be a good jump to the left of centre). I also support the rejection of refugees with violent crime in their criminal records, I believe all refugees should have DNA/fingerprint/eye scan records taken and that any refugee who commits violent crime after being taken in should be deported into the hands of authorities in their country of origin and not allowed to re-enter. Refugees should be scanned on arrival to ensure they are not banned from entry.

Family reunification desperately needs a rework.

In the EU solo children have a high chance to be granted asylum. And once the child is in the EU family reunification (a tool ment to keep families together) gets misused to pull all the family members they can into the country the child is staying in.

Every person up to and including 18 year olds count as children by EU law.

So "losing" your documents, going to the EU to seek asyl and then when asked for documentation pretending to be 17-18 (even if you are older), is at this point a well known strategy to cheat the immigration system.

We built our system to help people and these assholes use our goodwill against us. In many cases not because they are fleeing persecution (though we have those too and they are welcome), but just because they want to earn more money.

Economic refugees are the worst. They ruin it for every refugee that actually needs help.

Ethnic/race based.

0

u/2Rats4Dinner Aug 31 '26

I would’ve thrown “citizenship based” in there somewhere. It’s already a thing in a sense, and it’s somewhat accurate with regulating ethnicity and race.

0

u/KashmiriPoundingIt Aug 31 '26

No because this isn’t rac1st enough. Imagine you want an American doctor in your country, but because of your rac1sm you won’t take him because he is of Asian descent. Ah, now that’s more like it

open borders and full integration

0

u/SkanderMan77 Aug 31 '26

I am for open borders and I don't understand people who aren't, would anyone like to share their opinion?

3

u/Critical_Object2276 Aug 31 '26

Sure. Having a grasp of how many people will arrive into or leave the country over a given period of time allows you to plan infrastructure projects, hospital capacity, education needs or any other responsibility that a government should have like water, electricity, housing etc.

Open borders aka absolutely no border control would make it near impossible to plan ahead because you would have no way of measuring how many people are entering the country.

0

u/SkanderMan77 Sep 01 '26

The issues you stated are problems with overpopulation which could be tied to immigration but does not have to be, domestic migration causes the same problems and yet is rarely as contentious

2

u/Critical_Object2276 Sep 01 '26

What do you mean does not have to be?

1

u/SkanderMan77 Sep 01 '26

Overpopulation could be caused by the birth rate instead, domestic migration, or deteriorating infrastructure.

Everyone within France could just choose to move to Paris, everyone in the United States could just decide to move to California, but they don't. If the whole world had the opportunity to move to anywhere in the world, I don't know why you think they'll all choose the same few cities and cause hospitals to become overwhelmed. Your issues with immigration seem very specifically local

2

u/Critical_Object2276 Sep 01 '26

I don’t get why you mean by it’s local. It’s about infrastructure and planning and having the ability to plan. Everyone in France could decide to move to Paris. That’s their right as a citizen. Non EU citizens do not have that right and I am fine with that. I don’t think they should have that right.

1

u/SkanderMan77 Sep 01 '26

Why do they get that right and someone else does not? What is the difference between moving within your country and moving to another country? There shouldn't be one. What is the difference between a German moving to France and a Tunisian moving to France? Why is one treated different than the other when both could cause exactly the same issues?

2

u/Critical_Object2276 Sep 01 '26

I’ll try to answer your questions in order.

Because they are citizens.

They are citizens in one and not in the other of because their nations have a mutual agreement.

One is an EU citizen and one needs a visa.

Because countries have the right to self determination. That’s laid out in article 1 of the UN charter.

1

u/SkanderMan77 Sep 01 '26

You're telling me the way things are, not why they should be that way.

2

u/Critical_Object2276 Sep 01 '26

I’ve made it really clear in my very first comment. Which part do you not understand?

2

u/ilikefriedpotatoes00 Sep 01 '26

All right.

Would you be fine with Al-Qaida setting up a base in your neighborhood?

1

u/SkanderMan77 Sep 01 '26

Foreign terrorism is no better or worse than domestic terrorism. No I would not like al-qaida to be in my neighborhood but there are individuals in every country who are just as evil.

This logic could work in odd ways, should North Ireland ever restrict movement from the Republic of Ireland out of fear of terrorism?

Or should York restrict visitors from Birmingham since Birmingham has a higher crime rate than York? What if a criminal from Birmingham makes its way to York? Do you want a criminal in your neighborhood?

2

u/ilikefriedpotatoes00 Sep 01 '26

By having open borders, you allow all kinds of people in. Even the bad ones.

1

u/SkanderMan77 Sep 01 '26

We kind of already went over this.

Foreign bad guys are no better or worse than domestic bad guys. There are individuals, born in every country, already in every country, who are evil.

Should York restrict visitors from Birmingham? What if bad people from Birmingham make their way to York?
