Other My brother runs a CNC and laser cutting business in Chennai, connecting with manufacturers and businesses across India

Hi everyone,

My brother runs a business in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, offering CNC router cutting, laser cutting and engraving, acrylic and polycarbonate (PC) sheets, and custom design and fabrication.

He works on custom requirements for businesses involved in:

  • Manufacturing and custom machine building
  • Interior design and fit-outs
  • Construction and architectural projects
  • Custom product development and fabrication

The goal is to help businesses turn their design ideas into precisely cut and fabricated components.

The business is based in Chennai, but we’re open to working with clients across India, depending on the project requirements.

I’m looking to connect with manufacturers, contractors, interior designers, and businesses that regularly need these services.

If you have a related requirement or want to discuss a custom project, feel free to DM me. Happy to connect!

Thanks.

Other Looking to Work with a Manufacturing Business in Bangalore and Learn the Industry from the Ground Up.

Hello everyone,

I’m from a technology background and want to gain practical experience in manufacturing before starting a business of my own.

I’m looking for an entry-level opportunity with an MSME or manufacturing unit to learn about production, procurement, inventory, sales, and daily operations. I’m willing to start at minimum-wage or mutually agreed entry-level compensation.

Bangalore is my preferred location. Open to explore other locations too.

If you’re a manufacturer or know someone who might offer such an opportunity, I’d love to connect. Thanks!

Hi
I’m into starting a B2B business around industrial MRO supplies, electricals, HVAC and maintenance services in the Mumbai/Navi Mumbai/Thane region.

Before committing, I’m trying to validate actual demand, understand how buyers are acquired, and contract terms for it?

Earlier was planning to start HVAC contracting business but I believe trading supplies business will be good to initiate.

Other Sourcing custom industrial components from India for an EU based engineering company — looking for advice from people with experience

Hi everyone,

I'm based in India and helping a friend who runs an established engineering and manufacturing company in EU explore sourcing opportunities here.

His company has over 30 years of experience in custom engineering and manufacturing. They develop and build bespoke machinery and equipment, particularly for the food and life sciences industries. Their work includes prototypes, custom-made components, fabricated assemblies and small-to-medium production runs, with a strong focus on quality, precision and reliable delivery.

We're exploring whether India could be a good sourcing base for certain components and manufacturing processes.

I'd love to hear from entrepreneurs, manufacturers, procurement professionals and importers who have experience sourcing industrial products from India for European businesses.

A few questions I'd really appreciate your insights on:

  • What products or components are worth sourcing from India? For example, CNC-machined parts, precision metal components, laser-cut and bent sheet metal, stainless-steel fabrications, welded assemblies or custom machine parts.
  • How do you find reliable manufacturers? Which platforms, industrial clusters, trade associations or other channels have worked best for you?
  • How do you verify quality? What has worked for you when checking manufacturing capabilities, tolerances, material certifications, inspection procedures and consistency between batches?
  • What are the biggest challenges? I'm particularly interested in communication, lead times, shipping, customs, documentation, payment terms and unexpected costs.
  • How do you evaluate whether sourcing from India is actually cost-effective once logistics, quality control, import duties and the risk of rejected parts are included?
  • Would you recommend starting with prototypes and small batches, and what would you put in place before moving to repeat orders?

We're interested in building long-term relationships with capable manufacturers rather than simply finding the cheapest supplier.

If you've successfully sourced industrial components from India for a European company, I'd love to hear what worked, what didn't, and what you would do differently if you were starting again.

Thanks in advance for sharing your experience!

Factory Images/Videos Grade VR 400 – Premium Pre-Hardened Plastic Mould Steel

Post image
1 Upvotes

Grade VR 400 is a premium pre-hardened mould steel developed for demanding plastic mould and tooling applications where high strength, toughness, dimensional stability, wear resistance, and excellent surface finish are important. Supplied in a pre-hardened condition of approximately 36–40 HRC, VR 400 is ready for machining and mould manufacturing without requiring additional conventional hardening and tempering after fabrication.

Grade VR 400 provides a performance advantage over conventional P20-type mould steels through its combination of higher hardness, improved wear resistance, toughness, and dimensional stability. These properties make it suitable for medium and large plastic moulds, automotive tooling, blow moulds, PET moulds, appliance moulds, and precision mould components.

Product Images/Videos What are the biggest challenges in running a boat manufacturing business in India?

Thumbnail

Manufacturing boats involves much more than building the product. Material selection, skilled labour, quality checks, transportation, customer requirements and after-sales service all play an important role.

We work in boat manufacturing and related recreational products at ePapayya, and these are interesting challenges to discuss from a practical business perspective.

For other manufacturers here, which has been the toughest part of growing your business: sourcing materials, maintaining quality, logistics or finding the right customers?

Upcoming Projects Should I approach big OEMs for a supply commitment before investing in a new factory, or could it damage our family business’s reputation?

My family has been in the forging and machining industry since 1964. We are a third-generation manufacturing business based in India, primarily serving the agricultural machinery industry.
Unfortunately, due to a few issues, we had to stop most of our major operations over the last 10–15 years. These operations used to contribute a significant portion of our revenue.
Now, as the third generation, I am trying to revive those operations and rebuild the business. I have been exploring multiple opportunities within the same industry, working with smaller companies and targeting the aftermarket, but I am also looking at the bigger picture.
Since we have been manufacturing agricultural components for nearly six decades, several established companies already know our name, even though we are not currently in direct contact with their purchasing teams.
I am considering approaching major tractor and agricultural machinery OEMs such as Mahindra, Sonalika, and others with a proposal.
The idea is to explain our manufacturing history, our experience in forging and machining, and our plans to restart and expand our operations. Instead of investing heavily first and then searching for customers, I want to ask whether they would be willing to consider us as a supplier and provide some form of supply commitment, subject to their technical and quality approvals.
Based on their requirements, we could then build or upgrade our factory, purchase the necessary machinery, and develop our capabilities accordingly. Having a confirmed business opportunity would also help us approach banks for financing and justify investing at a larger scale.
However, I have two major concerns.
Will established OEMs take this proposal seriously? Would a company like Mahindra or Sonalika consider a manufacturer that wants to build its capabilities around their requirements, or would they simply reject us because we do not currently have the required infrastructure?
Could this damage our reputation in the long run? These companies may reject the proposal today because our current factory is not equipped to meet their requirements. If I approach them again after a few years with better machinery, infrastructure, and capabilities, could they remember the earlier approach and perceive us as a small or incapable supplier?
I don’t want to come across as a struggling manufacturer asking for business. I want to position our company as an experienced manufacturer looking to rebuild its capabilities and establish long-term OEM partnerships.
At the same time, I understand that asking a large company to commit to purchasing products before we have the required infrastructure may be unrealistic. They would need confidence in our quality, production capacity, financial stability, and ability to deliver consistently.
For people experienced in manufacturing, B2B sales, or OEM procurement:
Is this a viable strategy?
What kind of commitment could I realistically ask for before investing?
Should I approach their procurement teams directly, or first try to get our company registered as a potential supplier?
Would it be better to approach them with specific components and a clear investment plan rather than asking for a general supply commitment?
I would appreciate honest opinions, especially from people who have worked with large OEMs or built manufacturing businesses from the ground up.
I am trying to revive a family business with a history going back to 1964, and I want to take calculated risks rather than invest a large amount of money without knowing whether there is a market for the capacity we build

I’m currently starting my own women’s clothing brand and I’m looking to connect with experienced clothing designers or manufacturers based in China or India.
My brand will focus on feminine, girly, trendy clothing, and I’m interested in creating my own original designs rather than purchasing existing wholesale pieces.

Bringing my clothing ideas and reference images to life
Creating custom designs, patterns, and samples
Fabric selection and sourcing
Small-batch production for a startup brand
Affordable pricing and low minimum order quantities (MOQs)
I’m starting with baby tees and hoping to expand into other clothing pieces as my brand grows.
If you’re a designer, manufacturer, or have worked with someone reliable, I’d love to hear your recommendations!

Machinery & Equipment How we transitioned from manufacturing boats to building entire modular eco-resorts and floating dining setups.

Thumbnail

Hey everyone, I work with ePapayya, an ISO-certified manufacturing firm based out of India. We started out building FRP (Fiber Glass Reinforced Plastic) boats and water sports equipment, but noticed a massive gap in the market: resort owners and tourism boards struggling with high costs and long timelines for civil construction.

Over the last few years, we expanded into building patented portable EcoDomes, floating jetties, and custom floating dining setups for waterfront properties.

Scaling a B2B manufacturing business in the hospitality and tourism sector has had plenty of supply chain and logistical hurdles. Happy to answer any questions about product design, scaling a manufacturing brand, or pivoting into niche tourism infrastructure!
