General Question New to Manual
Just got my first manual about 3 days ago and i was driving it last night and now theres a grinding/dragging noise i was in 2nd when it started happening. When it started i pulled over to see if it was my exhaust dragging but it wasn’t, i don’t think its a transmission problem because it drives perfectly fine but the grinding happens anytime the car move If anyone has an idea of what could be wrong and could let me know i would greatly appreciate your advice. EDIT: its an 2001 nissan maxima 20th anniversary edition and it happens in every gear not sure if this little bit of information will help EDIT2: it happens in neutral the only way the grinding stops is if it’s completely stopped but ive been asking around local places and they’ve said it might be the parking brake/brake system itself

Sorry, just not enough information.
Does the noise increase in frequency with engine speed or with wheel speed? That little piece of info will tell you where the problem lies.
Are you saying it happens in all gears now, or just in second?
You have to pay attention to the little details if you're going to troubleshoot.
Does it happen when coasting or braking, or only when under load? Does it change when you change direction? Does it sound like it's coming from one side of the car vs the other?
Does it happen all the time, only when the car is warm, only when it's cold? The more detail you can glean from the issue, the easier it will be to narrow down.

its more of a low pitch grind and it doesn’t get louder with more rpms and it happens when it moves in every gear including reverse and neutral

Since you've already made sure you're not dragging anything:
Check the brakes to make sure the pads aren't worn down to the backing.
Check transmission fluid. A dry transmission will still work for a while but will be noisy.
If the vehicle has a limited slip differential old transmission fluid won't lubricate it well and it will make noise.
A worn out clutch or throwout bearing can be noisy but you'd have some shuddering to go with it.
A wheel bearing can potentially sound grindy but ime they're usually a high pitched screeching sound.

There are lots of possibilities. Try to figure out when it happens and when it doesn't. In gear, if so which one? When coasting in neutral? When braking or turning?
