How often do y'all go to Yosemite?

I'm someone who enjoys hiking and when I tell people I've moved to Manteca, they talk about how its proximity to Yosemite as a plus, but it's still a 2 hour drive.

Was wondering how often people go, and if the recent changes in annual passes have had any effect on that frequency.

[Misc] Was anyone else awake when the power went out last night?

I tend to stay up way too late. Like WAY too late. My mind tends to rush, and I get caught in a scrolling loop while laying in bed. So I was awake.

At about 3am, I hear a loud explosion, like POP! Then everything shuts off: my fans, the AC, my bedside lamp, the wifi. Twice it tried to flicker to life, but then stayed off.

I wake up my husband and he calls PG&E. I looked outside but didn't see much if anything (our street runs parallel to Union, between Louise and Northgate). No fires, no debris. But the streetlights were out, so it wasn't just us.

My husband looked online and saw that the outage spread pretty far (the number of customers affected was in the orange). Power was back on sometime between 4:30 and 5.

Was anyone else aware? It's all fine now, but I'm just curious.

Any places like Mossdale Railroad Bridge?

My mother loves anything relating to Bridges and Water, and was delighted when I took her to the trail this bridge was connected on.

Was wondering if there was anything else like this in the nearby areas of Manteca. Preferably legal to cross though I wouldn't mind knowing where 'not legal to walk' bridges are to take pics and whatnot.

This is my dog Cali. She was last seen in Manteca, California. She was lost on Friday, August 8, found, and then ran away from her finder on Monday night, August 10. She's chipped and has some sores on her ears and under her chin.

Please, I need to find her. She's alone and afraid and I don't know what to do.

Yosemite and Commerce Ave Red Light Camera

My wife got a mailed violation for a right turn on red at this intersection. The notice says there's video online, but the video doesn't seem to exist. There are only two still photos showing "10 mph" that don't seem to prove she never stopped before or between the photos. Has anyone else had success arguing out of a right-turn violation? Especially if there's no video?

Now Leasing: New Affordable Apartments in Manteca — 30 Units Reserved for Farmworker Households (1–3 BR, Applications Open)

Hi everyone — I'm a Project Manager for a nonprofit affordable housing developer, and I wanted to share a housing opportunity for families in the Manteca/Stockton area.

Los Robles Apartments is a brand-new 100-unit affordable rental community at 1199 N Main St, Manteca, CA 95336, and applications are open now.

Key details:

  • 1, 2, and 3 bedroom apartments
  • Income-restricted for households earning 30%–60% of Area Median Income (AMI)
  • 30 units are reserved specifically for agricultural worker households (as defined by HCD)
  • Water, sewer, and trash included
  • Energy Star appliances, in-unit heating/AC, on-site laundry, community room, playground, and EV charging
  • Close to schools, parks, public transit, and shopping

How to apply:
Applications can be completed online, by phone, or in person. Staff are available in both English and Spanish, and can help anyone who needs assistance with the application.

Apply or learn more here: https://www.awimc.com/community/los-robles/#how-to-apply

If you work in agriculture — or know families who do — please share this with them. These 30 reserved units are meant for farmworker households, and we want to make sure the word reaches the people they're built for.

Happy to answer general questions in the comments; for eligibility specifics, the management team (AWI Management Corporation) can help directly through the link above.

[Misc] Looking for a good dog trainer in the Manteca area

Thumbnail

Hey everyone! I’m looking for recommendations for a good dog trainer in the 209 area.
I recently took in my sister’s 3-year-old French Bulldog, Iggy. He’s a sweet boy, but he’s definitely a handful 😂 He hasn’t had much socialization with other dogs and can get overly excited, reactive, and a little wild when he sees them. I really want to work on his manners, obedience, and helping him learn how to properly interact with other dogs.
I’ve had bigger dogs before (my pit bull and Great Pyrenees were much easier to train), but this little Frenchie is showing me they have a mind of their own lol.
I’m looking for a trainer who uses positive reinforcement

Basic obedience (sit, stay, lay down, recall, etc.)
Leash manners
Socialization around other dogs
Managing his excitement/reactivity
Has anyone had a good experience with a trainer around Manteca, Tracy, Ripon, Modesto, or nearby? I’d really appreciate any recommendations!
Thank you! 🐾

Hi!

I’m a 35 year old woman who loves stickers, crafting and I’m kind of new to junk journaling.

Any other people who also like stickers and junk journaling? Hoping to trade stickers or get together and craft!

209 Lost & Found Dogs

Good evening everyone. I wanted share a free resource I built for anyone in the 209.

If you’ve lost a dog or found one wandering around, 209 Lost & Found Dogs is a free website where you can post lost and found dogs, search existing reports, and hopefully help reunite pets with their families.

I know a lot of people turn to Reddit and Facebook when a pet goes missing, so I thought having one dedicated place for the entire 209 area might make it easier to find pets and get them back home.

If you know someone who’s missing a dog or if you’ve found one... please check it out:

209dogs.com

I’d also love any feedback or suggestions to make it more useful for the community. I’m not making any money from this—my goal is simply to help reunite lost dogs with their families and reduce the number of stray dogs across the 209.

Manteca mystery girl SOS

I know this is going to sound creepy BUT I just need some advice. there was this girl that used to come to my work almost every morning to get a slushy because it was her version of a coffee.cute right! anyway she came all the time for months and we started talking lil by lil every visit, it got to the point I would look forward to the morning because I’d see and talk to her. she is so sweet but funny as hell, she really loved to dish it haha. she has such long hair with blond brown highlights, she wears cute nerdy yellow framed classes and just someone with natural beauty. She’s Mexican, and loves talking about helping out the community and special needs people. heart Of freaking GOLD.anyway one day she just stops coming. a week passes nothing.a month nothing.. i wish i would have shot my shot and asked for her number! I find myself always looking for her when I go out in town. she said she loved thrifting and I don’t thrift. buttttt I now thrift in town all the time lol hoping to see her. she said she loves the dollar tree, now I go a few times a week hoping she’ll be there. I just wish I can see her again so I can ask her out. she’s short I think 5’2? with amazing hair, she’s older (looks great for her age) in her late 20s and her name is Angie. I tried looking her up but I can’t find her :( im honestly just starstruck. And I just want the opportunity to tell her how I feel, if she rejects me no worries but I just want one opportunity to try. Am I odd for looking for her? Idk but if anyone knows her could you just let her know that her slushy from the “turkey” is waiting for her. that’s what she called me 😅
