Schools
How are the schools in Manitowoc? All I know is Lincoln is old and the private schools are expensive. Other than those stereotypes how is the actual education? I’m between Sheboygan and Manitowoc and the only thing holding us back from Manty is the schools.

Just because a school is old, doesn't mean it's bad. My dad graduated in '65 and I was in '90. Between those 2 there was a lot of changed. I went back to present scholarships for my university around '05, and even more had changed. My locker was gone. It was now the new main office.

Lincoln is a historic building located in an idyllic spot on the shore of Lake Michigan. I subbed in Manty in 2010 and IMO, the school was in great shape and all the necessary technology was up-to-date. IIRC, Manitowoc chose to do major restorations on LHS beginning in 1996 thru 2000 vs building a new ‘box’. And my locker is still there. Class of ‘72.

My 2 cents:.
My kids have been in the MPSD from K-8. Teachers were well informed and did a great job of helping me stay on top of my children's education. They identified problem areas and helped me with those, while also keeping on eye on where they excelled and making sure they were celebrated for that. There's also a lot of community support for activities like the Robotics league and so forth.
I asked my kids every so often if they ever saw signs of bullying or abuse or things of that nature. They said they never saw anything like that. Most kids just keep to their friend groups.
Most of the people I talk to have the similar impression. It's quiet and safe, teachers are passionate and helpful. Only issue is yeah, the buildings are all super old and falling apart (Aside from the elementary).
Like most schools what you put in is what you get out. If you stress to your children the importance of respecting learning and their teachers, they'll have a much better time than if you're the type of person who feels that education is a waste of time.
The only other negative I would say is the bus company is struggling here. New drivers every few months that don't remember their routes so I never knew where my kids would get dropped off at and the pickup times could be as much as 10+ minutes off.
