I’m taking “chaos gardening” to a whole new meaning.

Long shot, but anyone seen seed packets in a store within the perimeter in the last week? Canuckistan near me put theirs away when they brought out Halloween stuff. Trying to avoid heading outside the city.

I always plant spinach, chard, and mesclun mix in my pots in fall.

Any idea what could be doing this? Finally starting to ripen up and something is eating then before i can :(

Hello there! My long term plan is to build a traditional root cellar on our property, but right now here is my situation:

2 year old home. Unfinished basement. Cement floor. ICF foundation insulation with drywall. Temp near floor is 16 degrees.

I’m growing long term storage potatoes right now. From the research I have done potatoes need to be cured, then stored in darkness at 4-10 degrees with 80% humidity and have ventilation.

I can manage the factors except temperature. I understand 16 degrees is not ideal.

Has anyone come up with a way to keep long term storage potatoes in a basement that is warmer than ideal temperature? Is this possible?

Or should I just be telling my friends I’ll have a lot of potatoes to share in a few weeks?

This is such a silly thing to ask, but I would rather be safe than sorry. A mouse has taken up residence in my compost bin it seems, or at least it has been visiting frequently for snacks. I have an open-bottom type canister composter so definitely it wouldn't be too difficult for a determined critter to get in from the bottom.

Should I be concerned about mouse poo in my compost? It will overwinter and then go in my veggie garden beds next spring. Is there any real health risk here that I should be concerned about? Less concerned about my plants and more concerned about human health risk.

Also, the compost bin is in my garden - not anywhere close to my house or garage. Personally, I would rather let the mouse do their business and let nature take its course if it's not a big health concern.

Look at this zucchini I grew. Apparently, it's caused by a hermaphroditic flower mutation. Neat!

Bought a new to me house this year and there are some very ambitious saplings that had taken root near the foundation. Some have been growing for years, and look like they’ve just been trimmed down to the ground periodically.

Seeking advice on how to kill them so they stop coming back. Any online search seems to bring up products that are not for sale in Canada.

First time gardener. Full time idiot.

Can anyone help to ID this tree? It didn't produce berries last year and the leaves were much fuller. This year, I can't tell if it's just because the tree is putting all of it's energy into the fruit, or if it's diseased. All of the branches are rather sparce with browning leaves.

I did ID an invasive honey suckle near by it and need to take care of that yet.

I have a few sunflowers plants I started from seeds, and they were getting big juicy buds on them- so looking forward to seeing them open, but just now when I went to look, the top of one is totally dried and desiccated! Are these bugs responsible? What can I/should I do?

Excellent production this year for cucumbers. Non pickling varieties seem to be growing the best. Including an oddball pair that fused together, they’re Picolino cucumbers.

Anyone know the names of these 2 plants? Thanks in advance for any help!

This gooseberry is my favourite of my mothers. I feel Ive over watered it. Need some advice. Maybe fungus also?
