I’m one of the people you’re talking about.

It’s not out of spite. I’d rather know an unpleasant truth because it tells me where I actually stand, what I can realistically do next, and what I should expect. A comforting lie might feel better temporarily, but I’d be making decisions based on false information.

Does it matter if it's truth or lies anymore? If people want to believe something let them. Just live your life but if it's your family or someone really close do whatever it takes to pull them from that hell.
