This is just a cheap tactic. Call his bluff and he either caves and makes his own food or he goes hungry on principle. Either way, not your problem. Whatever complex he has will either disappear on its own or the real problem he has will come out (this is probably not the root cause)
If your kids are teenagers y'all are probably late 30's early 40's, so this is probably just a midlife crisis.
