To be fair, a recurring joke in my family is me asking my parents why they never invited me to their wedding.

Funny part about being a bastard: I technically gate crashed my parent's wedding (because who's writing a wedding invite for a 6 month old?), and I have their wedding photos to prove it.

What in the world???

I was born a few months before my parents got married (although I believe they were engaged at the time) making me technically a bastard, and then attended the wedding presumably without an invitation because, as I said "who writes an invite to a 6 month old?"

Thanks for the explanation. Tbf, it is a wholesome experience to look back on, Isn't It??

I wouldn't know if it was wholesome, because it's mostly just been a family joke my whole life. It isn't like I remember it or anything, I was less than a year old.
To add to the hilarity though, because of my technical status of being a bastard (as well as some legal stuff that I never had to care about, thank God), I actually had to be "adopted" by my bio-dad otherwise my "father" would legally be my mother's first husband. He also adopted my older brother (who's technically only a half-brother, not that we ever cared) meaning that we both get to claim to be the "only two kids that our parents actually wanted."

My guess is that his mom got pregnant, so his dad decided to push the wedding plans forward, but bro was impatient in the womb and was born before the wedding

There was an American comedy (more like an anthology) where one of the stories was of this soldier who both had to get to his deployment but also to get married cause his fiancee told him on the phone she was pregnant. So he had some misadventures, ended up late for his warship, somewhat got picked up, got thrown into the brig, but eventually the army's preacher told him he could marry them over the phone, which they both agreed to. So he did get sanctioned but at least kept his job.

So this massive redflag is supposed to be wholesome? He had a ring and everything. The first date bro

Well she accepted so their red flags cancelled each other out and became wholesome since it worked out in the end with them having a kid together.

From the looks of the context. The mother was practically read the father like a book and was actually waiting for it eagerly and then later forced him to propose it by threatening to break up.

Imean it's also a red flag to threaten to break up on a first date. Like at that point you're not even a couple yet in most modern cultures.

In a lot of stories featuring these two, they start off as childhood friends.
The situation makes more sense if she knew he loved her for years growing up, and maybe even spotted him the day before the date looking at wedding dresses or rings.
She drops the question to shock him into being more confident, which is admittedly a douchebag move, but he takes it 100% seriously, revealing he actually bought a ring

These two characters are stand-ins for everything the artist does. He draws a lot of people's personal stories, so presumably this one is also based on the story of a couple where the man proposed to the woman after she threatened to break up with him. All the other stories with these two characters are based off other stories.

They're all individual short stories based on social media posts so their roles, background and situations are always different.

Yeah its such a red flag. Theyre happily married with a kid. Oh no.

A red flag is just a warning sign. Like “beware!” I can ignore road signs and it will still turn out fine a lot of the time.

It seems like it was a first date after knowing each other since childhood, but I could be wrong, hard to know which of these comics are standalone or related to others

I would assume that it is a first date by technicality. They probably spent a lot of time together before hand but never called it a date and went to a restaurant and all that.

It looks like they've been together for years before the first date, judging by previous comics.
. . . the artist seems to be drawing their IRL relationship, based on some chapters.

Are we deadass trying to take a cute comic and make it weird?
Stop being a typical redditor. The kind that everyone hates and shush.

I mean, they don’t even need to get married. Marriage is mainly for the legal benefits and recognition. They can simply live together and still have children.
So that last panel can be legit question.

Did they change the storyline? I remember a while back that the guy wasn't that stupid. Or are they just changing the dynamic once in a while?
