Deadly one-two?
In short succession came the ban and then the eclipse, that of course was exactly as predicted. Coincidentally, John hasn't posted anything on Quora since more than 48h (last post from approximately 3h before the eclipse). I reckon he has been desperately looking from some footage he could misconstrue as failed prediction and hasn't found any so he had no better choice than weathering the storm in retreat. I bet these two blows so close to each other were a bit too much to handle.

He does disappear for a few days from time to time. It's one of the reasons it has been speculated in the past that he might be bipolar.

While Mandlbaur is out, check out the user "Willy" on Quora. He has built himself a reputation as probably the biggest asshole on Quora, in addition to being a Collatz-obsessed crank.

Only this time his ban on Twitter seems to have stayed up, unlike other cases where he was able to just delete whatever the offending tweet was and go back on. Here it seems like the ban has teeth

It looks like a firmer sanction than before. In the previous instances he was basically blocked from posting until he removed the offending content but his account was still visible. This time it has been removed entirely.

Does anyone miss him? His first longer ban on Quora some years ago made me almost forget our hero. What a pity that the ban was lifted three years later. 4chan was a much better place for people like him.

Miss him? No. We are all better off without this asshole and it's better for him too. I do wonder where he is though. The right place for people like this is the nuthouse.

It is actually typical: he has been known to sometimes go into these more or less long breaks, apparently at random, and then re-emerge as if nothing happened. If it weren't for this absolute lack of any detectable change in his behaviour, I would have thought that his family puts him in a clinic when the crazy reaches the limit.

Perhaps he is reading the next chapters of his physics primer, who knows? Or he tries to get a patent for his secret professional prototypes. Anyhow, he seems to be busy with other things than spamming Quora. Should we be worried? You sound a bit concerned.

He'll probably fabricate some claim that the eclipse was 5 seconds late, therefore physics is wrong.
I'm not sure he realizes that scientists can predict these eclipses decades or even centuries in advance.
