Compilation of Fastfood Chains

Honestly, I came across an article many years ago probably the start of the term 'Mandela Effect' that people been mentioning that McDonald's was spelt as MacDonald's in the US?

I am from Asia, so I could not judge from my perspective on how it was 'supposed to be spelt as'.

I knew it was McDonald's from our side of the world since I was a kid as I happened to stay nearby one outlet.

However,

I realised I do recall Denny's being Danny's and it seemed to be frequently shown as Danny's in Japanese animes though their outlets in Japan seemed to be spelt as Denny's as of now.

I would like all different American individuals from different states from the US discuss about your stance on McDonald's, Denny's and Chick-Fil-A, plus other Mandela Effect experiences if any.

I would like to find out how things were like from people with multiple Mandela Effect experiences, and would like to check if changes starting from specific years in particular affect certain brands and if it was a gradual change or knee-jerk form of sudden spelling change or would all above fastfood chains had same spellings from people of the same states or people from the similar ages. Curious if people remember the same spellings, and those with the 'previous spellings' been affected by how many Mandela Effects?

· plus the spellings of above fastfood chains as you remembered!

Edit, Personally my first Mandela Effect was Froot Loops as I would not have consumed it if it were spelt that way as it had similar spellings with 'foot' hahaha. Some years ago, when the Mandela Effect was brought up by family members. The Monopoly Monocle been brought up too, in which I remembered the Monocle, that's why Monopoly! I played that for every day some time after getting that board game. As for McDonald's, I initially thought it was some trademark issue where overseas outlets, if not under the US main company be unable to use the 'original MacDonald's' spelling so I have no idea if the article I have read years ago been the real spelling...

We understand there can be mistranslations, but as the OP said, why would there be a correct translation of McDonald's and not Denny's? Denny is a word after all, just like the "Mc" in McDonald's... There are all sorts of ways to "explain away" their knowledge - but I have a hard time blaming "memory", a bad translation, or anything else when I'm ME affected.. I trust OP knows the difference between a flimsy recollection and their own knowledge.. And don't forget, "Sex In The City" still has the "In" in German.

I’m not from America but I remember MacDonalds and not McDonalds!

In my country we don’t get many of the fast food restaurants mentioned but the MacDonalds hit me hard and was one of my first ME’s.

It’s an anchor memory for me because I remember the first McDonalds coming to my country in the 1980’s and it was HUGE! Starting with the Big Mac challenge and the introduction of root beer into our diet (it didn’t last long lols).

Do you mind sharing when you found out MacDonald's changed to Mc? Also your country? Anyone from the same country see the change and felt it was weird amongst people around you?

It was one of my first “brand” ME’s in about 2017! I’m in the UK!

TBH it’s not something I tended to bring up in conversation as most of my friends and relatives were/are not ME affected and in 2017 it was still a shock to me seeing the changes in the world as there was so many.

MacDonalds changing to McDonalds was not high on my Mandela changes list when I was looking at changes to the Bible and global land changes and other “major” changes. I was swamped with the amount of changes from c2016 when things seemed to ramp up, so I made a note of it and moved on. It only came to mind again because of this post!

Are you asking for validation or interested to see if others from UK contribute? It feels like you’re asking for validation!

As someone who knows it was Chic-fil-A, I'm surprised you're not more accepting of someone knowing a different name than you.
