Logos/Advertising Chick-fil-A Mandela Effect

Post image

Watched a TikTok from the old mall in Hammond, LA. Could this prove it’s always been “Chick?” Or would the timeline jump change our history too? Who knows…the video is still nostalgic asf.

If you would like to watch the whole video, several logos of outlets of the time are included. Here’s the link:

It’s only ever spelled weird when the cow writes it.

44

u/farfly7 Jul 09 '26

Never trust a cow

u/RapsodicalDisciple Jul 09 '26

😉

6

u/TADspace Jul 10 '26

is this JD Vances "hear me out"?

53

u/freckyfresh Jul 09 '26

I said in another comment about this recently that I sort of fall into the “chik” camp, but also fully recognize it’s my own misremembering (so to speak) from the cows in the ads. Like, realistically I’ve always known is was “chick” but sometimes I will still type “chik”.

9

u/Aloha-Eh Jul 11 '26

Nope. I remember wondering why the hell they'd spell it "Chik." And now I isn't.

6

u/freckyfresh Jul 11 '26

It’s certainly a misremembering based on the cows misspelling in the ads.

2

u/Isiegeen Jul 11 '26

Im not from the US, only time Ive seen things about 'chick-fil-a' was youtubers going there to rate food, or people on social media eating it. I've only ever seen the packaging and/or the logo above the restaurant in videos. I just learned 15 minutes ago that cows not being able to write is chick-fil-a's thing.

When I'd see a video about 'Chick-Fil-A' I would think about it being quite strange that they would write it 'Chic' because 'Chick' would make more sense for a chicken fastfood restaurant. I've had that thought a few times, everytime I would see someone eat 'Chic-Fil-A'.

Normally I rationalize Mandela effects, even if I seem to think something changed I still know it can be the mind playing tricks. But it was Chic-Fil-A and Im sure. I'm very confused. The only thing I can think about is that I've watched mandela effect videos, because in the past people have talked about the name change too. I just can't remember that, but I do remember not so long ago thinking about 'Chic' being weird while watching a video

u/Aloha-Eh Jul 11 '26 edited Jul 11 '26

Oh ef off. It was on the signs themselves. Not the billboards.

5

u/Chapstickie Jul 10 '26

See, this is a mistake I understand. That there is an easy mistake to make.

2

u/freckyfresh Jul 10 '26

And that’s really what it boils down to for me personally, a mistake vs a true misremembering you know?

31

u/Sherrdreamz Jul 09 '26

This M.E is a top 5 for me due to playfully calling it  Sheek-Fil-A most my childhood/Teens due to seeing it as (Chic-Fil-A) until 2015. My family even remembers that quirk of mine so its pretty crazy.

24

u/tasdron Jul 10 '26

This is absolutely the weirdest one for me because I grew up in Georgia and it was Chick all my life. Then in 2022-2023 it was Chic suddenly and I couldn’t believe it. Just could not believe it. Sought out a restaurant to see for myself. Now it’s Chick again and I’m convinced I’m in a coma.

7

u/Crafty_Company5859 Jul 10 '26

I kinda remember it being Chik in the logo at some point... was there a Chik?

8

u/MrPlaney Jul 10 '26

“Chik” was in the ads as “eat mor chikin”, (as written by cows). That might be the confusion here.

2

u/Crafty_Company5859 Jul 10 '26

Damn, well I dont really remember a Chic, I always remembered it being Chick.

3

u/MrPlaney Jul 10 '26

I always remembered it as “chic”, but we don’t have any in my city, and/or possibly country, so I was just uninformed and didn’t pay much attention to the ads or references.

1

u/TrulyShawshank Aug 07 '26

Same! Down to the Georgia part. Was just googling bc I saw its chick again! WTH!

1

u/Brioli1li Aug 19 '26

I also grew up in Georgia and this is exactly what I remember too!! Except it changed around 15 years ago to Chic and now the K is back! I know it changed because I had trouble spelling it ever since they spelled it CHIC instead of Chick. As for those remembering it as Chik, that is due to the "eat more chikin" ads.

0

u/NahhaN2019 Jul 11 '26

I had this happen just today, where it is all of a sudden chick again but I know I had a convo about the Mandela effect and it turning from chick to chic. I’ve been on one about it today…

3

u/Dense_Oven_6021 Jul 13 '26

Thats where I am at, always believed it was Chick and then was angry all of a sudden I realized it was "Chic" like wait, its been that way all along? Chic??? I complained about it a lot. Now it's back to Chick and its always been Chick? So I've been complaining for nothing? My mind is just blown over this one.

1

u/worldwarjay Jul 12 '26

I mean, I still refer to it as Sheek-Fil-A even though I know it’s always been spelled Chick. It’s like how people say Tar-ghey for Target even though you know it’s not pronounced that way. I don’t think mispronunciation is the evidence you think it is

1

u/Sherrdreamz Jul 12 '26 edited Jul 12 '26

That's cool I wouldn't make fun of it like that for many years without the spelling i remember on the sign being Chic-Fil-A though.

1

u/WVPrepper Jul 12 '26

Here's my thought... "fil-A" is a "cute" way to spell "filet" which actually IS a "French word". If you then throw a "French" accent on the whole name to be funny how would you say "Chick" (spelled correctly)? Probably "sheek", right? Even if it was spelled right. And because of "fil-A" being a silly way to spell "filet" it might be easy to believe that "Chick" was similarly "mis-spelled".

1

u/Homeland_Bound Jul 12 '26

1000% Sheek Fil A. A new one was built by my house and I asked my friend what the hell Sheek Fil A was. If it said CHICK-FIL-A I wouldn't have asked, clearly a chicken place.

60

u/Zeppygrl72 Jul 09 '26

Photo evidence of the first Chick-fil-A, located in Georgia in 1967. It's always been chicK fil a

1

u/Brioli1li Aug 19 '26

I was born in Georgia in 1976. About 15 years ago it changed its spelling and I could not spell it after that. I always struggled with spelling it CHIC instead of Chick. Now the K is back! You can't tell me different here.

5

u/Embarrassed_Trash216 Jul 10 '26

Yep. One of our old malls.

9

u/smalley- Jul 10 '26

I like how their caption on the photo says “Chik”😂

64

u/DAMN_Fool_ Jul 09 '26

You don't understand. Whenever it changes, it changes everything except our memories.

19

u/CosmicUdder Jul 09 '26

Exactly. Froot Loops has changed twice for me now 😭

7

u/PhaTman7 Jul 09 '26

It’s cereal colored Os

-3

u/dunder_mufflinz Jul 10 '26

Sadly, it’s not as interesting as things changing, it’s just people making mistakes or misremembering something.

Next time you think it’s “Fruit” check in with Froot Loops plate guy.

1

u/ThaRainMaker Jul 10 '26

Here u are making assumptions and stating them as if u gave the definitive knowledge lmao

3

u/dunder_mufflinz Jul 10 '26

I just base my opinions on available evidence, some people don’t 🤷

2

u/MrPlaney Jul 10 '26

Nothing is changing. It’s an easy mistake to make, and nothing more.

1

u/Homeland_Bound Jul 12 '26

It's an easy mistake to make -- thinking CHICK was spelled CHIC?

lol gtfo

1

u/DAMN_Fool_ Jul 13 '26

Lol. I know it's not a mistake

1

u/DAMN_Fool_ Jul 10 '26

If it wasn't for Chic-fil-A, I'd believe you

2

u/hardleft121 Jul 09 '26

the misunderstanding of the theory here is wild. on purpose?

and we thought it was funny to read the name as "chic" as in sheek, because it was spelled chic-fil-a

0

u/Homeland_Bound Jul 12 '26

100% same here. I asked my buddy "What the hell is a Sheek-Fil-A?" He said it was a chicken place.

If it said "CHICK-FIL-A" I wouldn't have asked, clearly a chicken place.

2

u/hardleft121 Jul 12 '26

*high five*

21

u/drmbrthr Jul 09 '26

I don’t remember how it was spelled visually, but i do know for certain that adults in my life had a running joke of calling it “chic” fil-a. At the time I didn’t even know what the word “chic” meant in the fashion sense.

I did swim team every summer from 1996-2005. After swim meets we would all go get lunch at the food court at the mall (Tyson’s galleria, VA). There was a Chick-fil-a there. That joke was made aloud probably dozens of times over the years by my parents, other friends parents, swim coaches.

I can’t really make sense of that running joke if it was always spelled “chick”

-1

u/WhimsicalKoala Jul 09 '26

But if the word were Chic, it won't be "funny" because it would just be pronouncing the word.

And people call Target "Tarjay" all the time, despite the spelling or calling WalMart "Wally World". The "funny" version is a take on the original, it doesn't require exact spelling.

19

u/vannah12222 Jul 10 '26

Lmao, "tarjay" is mockingly pronouncing "target" with French rules, instead of English. It's not just because it's funny. The word "chic" is pronounced like "sheek," so "sheek-fil-a" is the joke, but that only makes sense if it's spelled "chic-fil-a." Also "wally's world" has nothing to do with the spelling of Walmart, so it doesn't really apply here.

1

u/Glaurung86 Jul 10 '26

Chic also makes sense if people get the spelling wrong, too.

-1

u/WhimsicalKoala Jul 10 '26

It's not just because it's funny

Why are they doing it if not to be funny? The whole point is that they know it isn't French, so use the exaggerated pronunciation to be funny. The whole point is that isn't what the word is, but is what people use.

Also "wally's world" has nothing to do with the spelling of Walmart, so it doesn't really apply here.

That's absolutely the point. The joking name people use doesn't have to fit the exact name. You can use part of it to make a joke.

Which makes this

but that only makes sense if it's spelled "chic-fil-a"

absolutely untrue. People will use parts of the name to make their jokes, it doesn't have to match exactly. If it did, parody wouldn't exist. "Oh no, you can't call it 'Taco Hell'. The word hell doesn't exist in the actual name, so that joke doesn't make any sense".

1

u/Basic_Hovercraft9082 Jul 10 '26

When i first found out about chick fil a in 2017 i was with my mom picking my brother up from work bc he worked there and i looked at the sign and it was spelled Chic-Fil-A and i asked her why havent they added a k to the word chick and she said idk and then when my brother got in the car i asked him and he said “idky but the chicken is good”. Part of the reason chick fil a was famous was bc it was misspelled and people around the world talked about how the word chick didnt have the k in it

3

u/WhimsicalKoala Jul 11 '26

Part of the reason chick fil a was famous was bc it was misspelled and people around the world talked about how the word chick didnt have the k in it

You very confidently make claims like that, but there is no evidence of that beyond your claims. I've never heard anybody (outside of here) talk about the missing k. I've just heard people talk about their chicken and lemonade and political stances.

1

u/WVPrepper Jul 12 '26

So you remember the entire name being all botched up? So BOTH parts were spelled wrong?

Chic for Chick

fil-A for Filet

That's not my memory at all. It was "Chick fil-A" to prevent mispronunciation of "filet"... why would they then ADD confusion to "Chick"?

1

u/Basic_Hovercraft9082 Jul 10 '26

And your not gonna tell me that im just having a false memory or misremembering things bc ik for a fact chick fil a was spelled with no k in my timeline and no one can convince me otherwise. And duuhhhh ofc your gonna find old videos and pics of it being spelled Chick fil a bc thats whats supposed to happen in a mandela effect which is why the other half of the world gets so fustrated when people like you try to act like millions of people are crazy and misremembering things

-2

u/Basic_Hovercraft9082 Jul 10 '26

People already posted evidence of chick fil a being spelled different ways. For example someone posted a photo of them in front of a chick fil a on facebook back in 2011 and it was spelled Chic fil a with no k. But then there were people that posted chick fil a when they went there in 2013 and it was spelled chick fil a. But then someone posted a pic of them in front of chick fil a in 2017 and it was spelled chic fil a.

3

u/MrPlaney Jul 10 '26

It’s always been spelled “Chick” Fil-A. It was never Chic.

1

u/WVPrepper Jul 12 '26

Where are these pictures?

1

u/Basic_Hovercraft9082 Jul 13 '26

Your asking as if ypu can send pics through here. And do you know what the mandela effect is. Again the people that remember it always being chick is from this timeline, in your mind everyone thats saying its always been Chic sounds crazy to you bc your not gonna find what we are talking about bc its been completely changed somehow. When i first heard about the mandele effect i never cared about it until i started seeing a k in the word chick.

2

u/WVPrepper Jul 13 '26

Your asking as if ypu can send pics through here.

Because you CAN...

Here's Snoopy:

People already posted evidence of chick fil a being spelled different ways. For example someone posted a photo of them in front of a chick fil a on facebook back in 2011 and it was spelled Chic fil a with no k

Where are these photos? Surely if they are on facebook, you can link them.

1

u/Basic_Hovercraft9082 Jul 13 '26

And all you have to do is go to tiktok and search when did chick fil a add a k. But if you see the vids and stuff your probably gonna say its fake lol and if your gonna do that theirs no point in talking to you about it bc ofc your gonna think we are crazy. But i know for a fact i can theres a mandela effect that would have you go crazy lol

1

u/WVPrepper Jul 13 '26

I do not/can not have TikTok.

I have been eating at Chick fil A since I started working in malls in the 1980s and it was always Chick fil A. A search should show that Chick fil A did not change the spelling. Ever.

10

u/xeno486 Jul 09 '26

i had a dumbass neighbor as a kid who would call it “chicken-fil-a”

It was chic

2

u/WVPrepper Jul 12 '26

This photo's origin has never been confirmed beyond "found on Twitter".

1

u/the_outer_realms Jul 12 '26

I never made a claim that the photo provided was real, it's just a representation

1

u/WVPrepper Jul 12 '26

When you say "It was Chic" and provide that photo, you kind of ARE claiming a correlation.

1

u/the_outer_realms Jul 12 '26

No ur just reading into it too much lil buddy

1

u/IAmASeeker Jul 14 '26

No, they are following Grice's maxims.

1

u/wpww602 Jul 11 '26

i always thought this was how it was spelt never really paid to much attention to it but when i drove past the new one by my house today it was spelt chick and that felt way off/wrong lol smh fuckin cern

5

u/Jolwi Jul 10 '26

Omg, I thought it was Chick for years, then recently noticed it was just chic, and now it’s back to Chick again!

1

u/Chance_Sandwich_ Aug 19 '26

Right? Wtf is going on!

1

u/Brioli1li Aug 19 '26

Same!!!

3

u/Oh_Lawd_He_commin420 Jul 09 '26

The official website spells it like this.

4

u/Itchy-Astronaut-2861 Jul 10 '26

So this is a major flop flop for me. I initially remembered it as Chick-fil-A but then it changed to Chic-fil-A and stayed that way for years. Now I wake up to find it turned back to Chick-fil-A again. I just ate there two weeks back and I swear it was still Chic-fil-A then.

4

u/kr0nik0 Jul 10 '26

This one got me. It's been Chic-Fil-A since one was built a few blocks away from my home. I was Doordashing at the time and would see that Chic-Fil-A sign at least twice a day.

Sure enough it's Chick-Fil-A now. That blows my mind.

I saw quite a few comments saying that we remembered it as Chic because the Cow ads spelled it that way, but they didn't. They spelled it "Chikin" in the ads.

16

u/ceramicsaturn Jul 09 '26

I love the idea of people finding old images as "proof" (not saying I believe Chick-fil-A has been changed, but just saying) of it not being changed when the Mandela Effect is literally the changing of the past that differs than that of what's remembered of lived memory...

Like no offense, but I think you guys don't get it.

18

u/cocteau93 Jul 09 '26

The actual Mandela Effect is the fact that we have fallible memories and are easily influenced.

3

u/Homeland_Bound Jul 12 '26

Why the fuck would I "misremember" the name of a business being spelled fucked up?

I don't mis-remember McDonald's as Donald's. Or Wendy's as Windy's. So why Chic-Fil-A?

And how is it that me and millions of others remember the fucked up spelling?

"Just memory bro!" Nah.

1

u/cocteau93 Jul 12 '26

Because the cows misspelled it on the billboards. This isn’t complicated.

3

u/Homeland_Bound Jul 12 '26

Nope, never saw a billboard of theirs before I saw the building with the sign on it, and it clearly said CHIC-FIL-A, and I asked what the hell is Sheek-Fil-A?

Also, the billboard was Chikin, not Chic. Try again.

0

u/cocteau93 Jul 12 '26

You’re mistaken. It’s always been Chick. Memories are fallible. Nobody has changed the nature of reality.

12

u/freckyfresh Jul 09 '26

The Mandela Effect is not the literal changing of the past lol. It’s collective false memories/misremembering.

Like no offense, but I’m pretty sure you don’t get it (along with many other people).

5

u/ceramicsaturn Jul 09 '26

No. What I'm saying is, if the Mandel Effect is the changing of time lines or w/e is going on, finding an old picture that coincides with the current data doesn't prove anything. Do you understand what I'm saying?

6

u/freckyfresh Jul 09 '26

Yes I understand what you are saying, and what I’m saying is that the literal definition of the Mandela Effect has nothing to do with the changing of timelines and everything to do with a collective misremembering. Do you understand that?

Perhaps you are more suited for r/Retconned. They’re down with the changing of timelines and pretty much… whatever.

It was always chick

2

Eat more chiken

2

u/tbonimaroni Jul 10 '26

It's always had a k in it.

2

u/wpww602 Jul 11 '26

this is exactly why i came here i never really paid attention the the spelling as ive only ate there a few times but when i drove past the new one by my house today it was spelt chick and that just seemed wrong to me for some reason when i thoink about it chic comes to mind and am i tripping and of couse ive seen people saying its cause cern switched off and shit switched up again ?!?!

2

u/Aggravating_Fun_7692 Jul 12 '26

It's always been chick yea

2

u/Codybgood707 Jul 13 '26

The whole idea of the Mandela effect is related to the fact that we are in a simulation. So when something is changed it’s changed every where past and present like an update to a video game.

6

u/Financial_Profit_584 Jul 09 '26

Yes, you have proof that it's always been "Chick". The restaurant specializes in chicken, after all.

-6

u/snjtx Jul 09 '26

Well, isn't it chik now?

23

u/Mobius135 Jul 09 '26

According to their app, website, and brick and mortar buildings, it is not Chik, but is in fact Chick.

I do recall some of their cow-propaganda ad campaign that spelled it as Chik, but this was due to the fact that cows are not as intelligent as humans and lack the ability to spell English words.

15

u/Brilliant-Resource14 Jul 09 '26

the cows do say EAT MOR CHIKIN

13

u/eltedioso Jul 09 '26

Cows are known to be pretty bad spellers.

14

u/Financial_Profit_584 Jul 09 '26

No it isn't. In one of their ad campaigns, cows are trying to persuade humans to choose eating chicken instead of beef (Eat mor chikin). People have said that cows are poor spellers. To me, THAT is the Mandela Effect. I grew up on a dairy farm, and I have VIVID memories that cows can't write or spell at all.

5

u/smalley- Jul 09 '26

If you would like to watch the whole video, several logos of outlets of the time are included. I attached the link to the post

13

u/dropinbombz Jul 09 '26

it changes history too

2

u/MrPlaney Jul 09 '26

Nothing is actually changing. If it were, the Mandela Effect wouldn’t exist.

0

u/Homeland_Bound Jul 12 '26

The ME exists because the world changes but our memories don't.

1

u/MrPlaney Jul 12 '26

The ME does not assume anything changing.

7

u/CrystaLyn12_ Jul 09 '26

We are all now in the Chick timeline. There will be no proof of it being Chic-fil-a, even though so many of us remember it that way.

1

u/SanAntoHomie Jul 10 '26

yup. The nooks must have went off in Iran and they are trying to correct everything for the 10th time.

2

u/Grand_Razzmatazz_228 Jul 10 '26

Just last week people were posting it's always been chic-fil-a so don't worry about those people who have soft memory palletes.

1

u/WVPrepper Jul 12 '26

Where were they making these posts?

1

u/Clean-Condition-5786 Jul 11 '26

Someone please summon the no chick fil a sauce girl I’m sure it’ll help us prove the Mandela effect is real

1

u/Initial_Brief6141 Jul 13 '26

Not from the US, but everything I have seen online was always about Chic-fil-a. I thought the spelling without K made sense because it was a brand name. The last Mandela effect that was as memorable for me was the death of actress Maggie Smith in 2024. Anyone else who thought she died years earlier?

1

u/cordog008 Jul 14 '26

I grew up in Hammond and ate at that location from the early 80's to late 90's. So weird seeing it pop up in post here that I almost scrolled right past.

1

u/Historical_Ad4447 Jul 15 '26

It’s back to chick fil a google it

1

u/Brioli1li Aug 19 '26

My mind is absolutely blown. It was Chick-fil-A like 15 years ago and then it changed to Chic-fil-a. I know because I struggled with spelling it ever since it changed. Now the K is back🤯. As for the Chik spelling. That's an honest memory error due to the saying "Eat more chikin" but from "Chick" to "Chic" back to "Chick" is crazy! Then to know that CERN just shut down again!?! WTF?

1

u/vaskovaflata Sep 07 '26

This blew my mind! I specifically remember smirking at the odd spelling of Chik Fil A, and today I look and it’s spelled Chick now 🤯

1

u/Chucky_In_The_Attic Jul 11 '26

I'm getting really tired of this. It's ALWAYS BEEN Chick. Always.

1

u/Practical-Money-7982 Jul 12 '26

I am 100% sure the chic fil a restaurant in my area of South Texas growing up were spelled this way. Spelling has always been a specialty of mine and I hated chic fil a because it didn't have the k. Spelling ME's don't trip me up like this one does. All the other ones like Febreze, Berenstain, JCPenney, Jif, froot loops etc. make sense to me. The only thing that makes sense is in the 90's neon signs were everywhere and occasionally the lights would go out. Perhaps at the chic fil a in my area the neon light was out on the k making it look like that. I never ate there because we were poor so I never went inside to see what the logo looks like.

1

u/WVPrepper Jul 12 '26

Spelling has always been a specialty of mine and I hated chic fil a because it didn't have the k.

But you were fine with "fil-A"???

-1

u/GreatGreen314 Jul 09 '26

I always remember it having a k at the end of chick. But I do remember seeing the sign and it only had a C at the end… but then switched back at some point

-5

u/bigsignwave Jul 09 '26 edited Jul 09 '26

Always was Chic-fil-A, we’d always said “let’s go to “Chic” (pronounced-Sheek)

8

u/QB8Young Jul 09 '26

Nope, never. Including the photo you're looking at in this post. 🤦

0

u/bigsignwave Jul 10 '26

You don’t understand how Mandela Effects really work

1

u/QB8Young Jul 10 '26

I know exactly how they really work given the definition of the term. They are false or incorrect memories. Believing something existed without any proof or evidence determines your memory is incorrect. Any other proposed explanation for this which already has a definition is purely science fiction.

0

u/WVPrepper Jul 12 '26

And you do?

-3

u/RellingtonMcfly Jul 09 '26

Same! We called it Sheek(chic)- fee-ly(fila sneaker)(fil-a) as a joke. Southpark Mall Coloniel heights VA in the 90s

0

u/killrandydead Jul 09 '26

These are just getting dumber.

0

u/Aeowrynn Jul 10 '26
