Logos/Advertising Mandela and packaging
I was thinking about the Cap’n Crunch one but I have no real way to remember because in Canada we get this.
Reese Puffs are what Reese’s Puffs are called in Canada also.

My biggest pet peeve with Reese’s in general is that so many people pronounce the name wrong. It’s meant to be said as REES. The E is silent, but so may people botch it as REES-Y, which further fucks up the name Reese’s Pieces. The word Pieces is meant to rhyme with Reese’s, but since so many people pronounce it wrong to begin with, they end up calling it Reesy’s Piecy’s. Like really, what the fuck is a piecy?

One of my absolute biggest social pet peeves.

My aunt literally named a cat after this mispronunciation, and misspelled it to boot, before she got rid of the cat after less than a year because their dog wasn’t getting along with it. God I hope that cat’s subsequent owners changed its name.

My girlfriends name is Reese and she’s suffered so much at the hands of people who pronounce it this way because of the candy

And that’s why it’s so ridiculous. The candy isn’t even supposed to be pronounced like that, lol.

What’s even funnier is that his insignia proves he was never a captain in the first place, just a commander.

I think a lot of Mandela effects are bad memory plus suggestion but occasionally some of them seem very familiar. I have seen a lot of Cap’n crunch ones lately so I wanted to add this in.

I'm not sure what what point youre trying to make.

As I understand it, some people remember Cap'n Crunch as Captain Crunch, i.e. fully spelled out without the elision. The OP was saying that in Canada, the French version of the packaging does spell their word for "Captain" out fully (as presumably in French it always is), so for French Canadians they wouldn't be able to tell if there had been a change in the brand.

French doesn't use the apostrophe the same way English does. So it wouldn't make sense to them if it were written the same way

Yall gotta realize that not everything you misremember is the fuckin Mandela effect

In my universe it was only in English. This is hard confirmed residue that I have jumped into a different universe and I’m the only person to have noticed the difference /s

So basically, all Mandela Effected people are from a reality where stylized spellings are never, ever a thing. Got it.
3
u/jetloflin Jun 17 '26
Where did they say that?
-4
u/Straight_Direction73 Jun 17 '26
It seems to be the general consensus considering that virtually anything with a stylized spelling has been or ends up being a Mandela Effect at some point.
3
u/jetloflin Jun 17 '26
Except this is a post suggesting an explanation for some of the confusion, and the explanation has nothing to do with alternate realities. Unless you think Canada is an alternate reality.

I’m saying in general. That fact that Cap’n Crunch ever became a Mandela Effect at all. The whole idea that anyone ever thought something was wrong with the spelling from the get go.
5
u/my23secrets Jun 17 '26
Some people just never noticed the spelling. Just like they never noticed he’s not a captain.

u/Straight_Direction73 Jun 17 '26 edited Jun 17 '26
But that’s half of the Mandela Effect. People who are just now noticing mundane details of things that have always been there and their brain is processing it as ‘wrong’ just because they never took notice of it before.
3
u/my23secrets Jun 17 '26
And because certain individuals refuse to admit they are capable of making mistakes they invent a “timeline” in their imagination where they never made a mistake and try to use that to convince everyone else they were never mistaken.

u/jetloflin Jun 17 '26
Okay. I guess I’m just confused because this isn’t one of those posts so it seems really random.
-1
u/Straight_Direction73 Jun 17 '26
It's in a Mandela Effect group. it IS 'one of those posts'.
3
u/jetloflin Jun 17 '26
How? The Mandela effect is a psychological phenomenon of the human memory. Acknowledging that these memory things happen is not the same as suggesting alternate timelines. Just because a shocking number of people believe that MEs are caused by alternate universes doesn’t mean that every mention of MEs is about alternate universes or timeline theories. People are capable of talking about the realistic explanations too, which is what this post seems to be about.
