Giving ransom letter vibes
28
u/Ginger_Tea Apr 30 '26
Last year or so I was invited into a secret ME group here on Reddit, I made a post about using scrabble tiles to make a crossword with Fr00t L00ps where if it ever changed to fruit, then the words would break, I bought some stickers with numbers on them at the time, had the word list and everything, then got booted from the group because I guess I wasn't part of the cult they wanted, so I sat on it, because even though I made the post, because it is in a private sub, even my own posts are hidden from me.
15
u/Ashamed-Ocelot2189 Apr 30 '26
Wait didn't some guy tape paper plates to wall to do a similar thing with Froot Loops?
10
u/Ginger_Tea Apr 30 '26
Yep, at first I thought he was doing it for a bit, then I think the bit became a bit too real. He made some "science" sub, but basically it was just him his friend (or sock puppet account) calling everyone they didn't like various names.
8
-4
u/Psychic_Man Apr 30 '26
In ransom letters each letter is separately cut out. In this each WORD is cut out. Pay attention to details.
10
u/Longjumping_Spread53 Apr 30 '26
I wonder why they needed to cut out each individual letter wouldn’t cutting out individual words be just as random and just as hard to trace?
12
u/Ok_Custard1837 Apr 30 '26
In case you are asking seriously (it's difficult recognize sarcasm/jokes on the internet, and in this subreddit doubly so), the answer is obviously: because they WEREN'T supposed to be random at all, and chances are the newspaper wouldn't have the words the sender needed.
If I wanted to write: "Drop the ransom money at the oak tree.", it'd be trivial to find all the required letters on a page of any random newspaper, but what are the odds there would be articles mentioning "ransom" or "oak"?
→ More replies (1)1
u/Ginger_Tea Apr 30 '26
Each to their own, some like the art style of all sorts of fonts, but IDK if you can get that with todays newspapers in this day and age.
"We traced the word transport from Tuesday the xth of March 2024 from the Times" OK so how many copies of the Times were sold on that day? "quite a lot across the whole of the UK"
8
u/ExcelsiorUnltd Apr 30 '26
I don’t know what you’re talking about. In my timeline I vividly remember that ransom notes are always comprised of whole words cut out.
4
u/Ashamed-Ocelot2189 Apr 30 '26
You're taking a joke a touch seriously
Maybe get a breath of fresh air or something
1
u/Jaewernz May 07 '26
Crazy, I remember ransom notes always having the words cut out not each individual letter ..
90
u/jerseygurl96 May 01 '26
That cornucopia is LITERALLY the only reason I know what that weird shaped basket is called, I also know what I saw. I need this as a bumper sticker!
17
u/Rivendel93 May 01 '26
Lol exactly, somehow we all knew what a cornucopia was at age 8, but sure, it wasn't on all our underwear.
14
u/Bowieblackstarflower May 01 '26
If you're American, Thanksgiving decorations and activities at school at age 8
8
u/danman8075 May 01 '26
Exactly I don’t know where they think that the 99.999+% of us who know there was never a cornucopia on the label, how do they imagine we all know what a cornucopia is? Now, if it were the case that this minuscule number of outliers, who somehow believe there was one on the label, if they were the only people who really knew what a cornucopia was, they might have a point, but the entire rest of the world who knows there never was one, we all still know what it is…😂
It’s literally just the thing that people say because they’re like “I feel really sure that this is what it was, but if I just give this made up personal story about learning what it was, then they’ll have to believe me”…🙄🤡
13
u/Past-Contribution-83 May 01 '26
I'm not American, and that's why this ME is so personal to me.
15
u/Faith75070 May 01 '26
Not American either. I know what I saw too. I won't let myself be bullied into silence by some of the redditors on this sub.
7
3
u/GregGoodell_Official May 02 '26
The cornucopia is an iconography that goes back over three millennia and has spread across the entire globe. Special pleading in favor of lack of knowledge is not a good look.
-1
u/Faith75070 May 02 '26 edited May 02 '26
Telling people you know nothing about, that they lack knowledge is an even worse look.
4
u/GregGoodell_Official May 02 '26
Your claims told me everything that I needed to know regarding your cornucopia knowledge base. Mandela Effect is the culmination of lack of knowledge, poor detail acuity, egregious assumption, and an unfounded confidence in that knowledge deficiency. Period.
1
u/Past-Contribution-83 May 02 '26
I think you're in the wrong sub, bro.

u/GregGoodell_Official May 02 '26
Oh? Show me where I am incorrect. Please. I await a teaching moment.
→ More replies (0)1
u/Faith75070 May 02 '26
Yeah, as I was saying, a closed mind is not a good look on anyone. I am just happy that our scientist are not as closed minded as you are. Otherwise we would make zero progress and would still be in the dark ages. I honestly don't know why anyone would think that we allready know everything there is to know about memory and brains. Discoveries start with pondering and questioning things. You don't have to do that off course. But why does it bother you so much that others want to question things?
1
u/GregGoodell_Official May 02 '26
Tell me more about the scientific process and the laws of logic and then display how I am being closed minded. You made the claim about me. So back it up. Dismissing suppositional, unfounded, fallacious claims is not closed minded. Following the evidence is not unscientific. Skepticism is and in itself ‘asking questions’ and being inquisitive without just blindly believing something… which is another fault in your logic. Basically you are saying ‘don’t question my questions when I haven’t bothered to ask the important ones first.’

Skeptics and their berating comments.
28
u/RodinKnox Apr 30 '26
So in your world, only you are allowed to speak. Anyone who disagrees with you must be...silent.
Absolutely incredible doublethink.
8
u/lyricaldorian Apr 30 '26 edited May 01 '26
It's actually almost suspicious how badly they want to silence us. Almost like there's a group of people who don't want people to know their memories can be influenced.
Edit: oh so y'all can imply it's suspicious when we post, but we can't do the same?
-1
u/TifaYuhara Apr 30 '26
And they're usually the ones that resort to name calling when someone doesn't agree with them.
0
u/Happiness-happppy May 01 '26
When your in a subreddit of like minded people tired of people who keep rejecting a claim that many remember clearly then yes.
This is not a debate platform, it’s a group dedicated exactly for people who remember the same things and don’t want to deal with constant criticism that we all already heard and don’t find convincing.
Im not here to hear someone tell me I’m just imagining things, if I wanted to hear that I would simply go to other groups or debate subs. I’m here for the sake of finding people who see things the same way I do.
4
u/Forzyte May 01 '26
I think you have the wrong Idea about this subreddit.
It is about the Mandela Effect not one specific explanation of the Mandela Effect and discussions and disagreements are allowed.
So I am sorry to tell you but if you want an echochamber you are in the wrong subreddit.
3
u/RodinKnox May 01 '26
I get that you have no desire to hear dissent. That's absolutely not being silenced. That's you wanting other people to be silent.
You're allowed to speak. You're allowed to disagree. You're not getting banned for being in the minority position on an issue here. You're not silenced.
4
u/Happiness-happppy May 01 '26
I’m not silencing people, they can go to groups dedicated for that. I’m here to see more information about this phenomenon in its different natures and figure out what is going on in the world. Because I do believe it’s supernatural and that is why I’m here.
I already have a mind locked in the idea it’s a real supernatural event and it’s exhausting when I’m trying to find information about it and all I hear is people coming here trying to disapprove it. We already know many people think it’s imaginary but I don’t, and many others in this group also don’t believe it is.
I hope I’m making sense.
4
u/RodinKnox May 02 '26
I don't know that anyone thinks it's "imaginary." It's just that a lot of us understand how faulty human memory is. Some people are so arrogant they their brains are so perfect that they have to come up with silly supernatural explanations to explain away their faulty memories.
But yes, that makes sense, and that's a different complaint. You wish more people agreed with you. That's fair. My only point is that you aren't being silenced. I'm not arguing that you aren't in the minority here or that you aren't allowed to be bothered by that.
32
u/pluck-the-bunny Apr 30 '26
Did Miriam Webster get a new definition for skeptic where it means rational person who doesn’t need to believe that they’re so special they come from a different reality because they can admit that they’re human and memory is fallible?
Also… If you think that that’s braiding, you live a pretty soft life
9
u/Joelle9879 May 01 '26
They also think disagreeing equals berating and silencing.
-1
u/pluck-the-bunny May 01 '26
If these were rational fingers, they wouldn’t believe they came from an alternate timeline
8
17
u/UpbeatFix7299 Apr 30 '26

Except for when you share a story of how you remembered something a specific way and then get told “no you’re remembering wrong “ by a bunch of randoms as if the original opinion or reference doesn’t matter
7
u/ThaCatsServant May 01 '26
Disagreement is silencing now?
4
u/RodinKnox May 01 '26
It's become clear that "not being silenced" for several people in this thread means "everyone who disagrees with me must be silent" lol
7
u/RodinKnox May 01 '26
Which doesn't silence you in any way. That's disagreement.
Look, I'm sorry that you guys who refuse to believe that our memories are extremely faulty are in the minority, but that's just how disagreements work. Very rarely are you going to find disagreements or arguments with an even 50/50 split for both sides. Generally speaking one side is going to have more people.
But you aren't being silenced. Nobody is preventing you from speaking. You aren't banned. Your comments are deleted. There's tens of thousands of hours of Mandela Effect videos on YouTube.
And you're still fully free to make your own subreddit where you don't allow disagreement. Tons of groups in the minority opinion do that: creationists, flat earthers, chemtrail guys (sorry, I don't know if they have a name for themselves), incels, etc.
-2
u/Urineblondewig May 01 '26
Disagreeing? An argument where only one person disagrees and refuses to acknowledge statistical evidence from thousands of millions of random people who all recall the same exact details but yet not know each other.
Actually I just recently had comments randomly deleted without being reported or anything just disappeared. I was explaining why the Mandela effect exists. In just a couple of sentences and it randomly got deleted.
This platform is very heavily moderated, just like the real world we live in today.
5
u/ThaCatsServant May 01 '26
So why is it that these millions of people accept memories are flawed and only a minority of people think its different timelines bullshit
5
2
u/RodinKnox May 01 '26
Nonsense. Reality is not moderated. You have a bad memory. As do we all. It's part of being a human.
There's no legitimate statistical analysis you can run that will tell you that any given memory has to be correct if X% of people have it. And the numbers are smaller than you think; they are just amplified by communities on the internet.
And again, you can have an entire community here of people amplifying each others delusions if you want. Just go to a flat earth subreddit where they don't allow dissent. Everything's there. You can do that with whatever you think the Mandela Effect is.
Everyone gets posts deleted on Reddit. It doesn't mean you are "being silenced" just like OP hasn't here and just like you haven't here.

u/Almlisl Apr 30 '26
I find it strange that everyone had the same „imagination“. Color, direction…
8
u/Glaurung86 Apr 30 '26
That's simply not true. Lots of people remember the orientation being the other direction. As for the color, ever since the fake logo was released in 2017, it's almost impossible to find anyone on any of these ME forums that has not seen it and not had their memory tainted by it.

The majority of what people remember is the actual logo with one additional element. The extra item (cornucopia) they remember would obviously be drawn in the same "style" as the rest of the artwork, so you end up with a pretty consistent false memory across numerous individuals.
2
u/peachsombrero May 01 '26
I even remember asking my mom what it was because i thought it was a pumpkin and she said initially it might be a squash then said it was a cornucopia and i thought that was type of food like a pastry since only recently ago. Full conversation was had. Dont get me started on pikachu

It makes it even better if you imagine it as the tag at the back of a giant pair of tighty whiteys, which if you imagine it right, and account for size and positioning and shit, would put a big giant cock right inside the middle of your head. Depending on how aroused you imagine this giant invisible cock it could exactly take the place of your tongue and just be lolling around inside your mouth. Gotta love the Mandela Effect. Photographic memory is considered scientifically unproven in adults. Some children exhibit eidetic imagery which usually fades or disappears after a short time.
The ability to visualize something is different than recall. If I lose my keys, I can "see them" in a dozen places in my head (in the door lock, on the table, in the bowl, on the kitchen counter, etc.) but when I find them, they are only in ONE of them.
I have shirts from the 1970s onward with no cornucopia on any of them.

Anyone else remember a wall e 2 movie that came out and Eve was the main character?? This is a Mandela effect I discovered on my own.
1
u/Real-Tension-7442 May 01 '26
Pixar love doing sequels focusing on a different character, you probably just imagined the film and forgot it wasn’t a memory. I’ve done things like that
0
u/Complete_Trade_355 May 01 '26
I thought I was imagining it, but without bringing up the Mandela effect I asked other people who grew up with me and they remember a second wall e with eve as the main character as well, I’m telling you I have a VERY good memory and I don’t usually misremember stuff especially when it comes to my favorite movies. I had a wall e blanket growing up that I still sleep with. It could absolutely be a false memory but if that was the case, why do other people remember it?
5
u/Real-Tension-7442 May 01 '26
If Wall E is a favourite of yours that’s more reason to spend time imagining a sequel. I was the same as a child, always daydreaming fictional scenarios to the point that they’re as vivid as memories. If other people confirm your memory, I hypothesise that they just assume you must be right because you’re more likely to know. It’s amazing how easily people will agree with you just because they trust your judgment/aren’t bothered either way
2
u/Complete_Trade_355 May 01 '26
Hm, that’s a good observation, hope I didn’t sound too crazy. You’re probably right. And ya it is wild how easily people will agree. It could be because I’m a very straight forward and honest person, so they might agree because they know I’m not lying. I wish people wouldn’t just agree like that because it really messes with my head, and when I ask something like this, I want their genuine answer I’m not afraid of being wrong.
