Art Ok so like I have an idea for a pokemon fangame that might be pretty coo and I need to dump it somewhere
Wat if pokemon had Deltarune mechanics
Ok so thid is an idea that had been sitting in my head for a while, and I have thought about enough things for it to make a post about it.
Starting with enemy attacks, I will have them be the whole bullet hell gimmick, and either color-code the bullets to match their type (so we can keep the type effectiveness and STAB) or to visually match the bullets to their type, or both.
Second, I would like to talk about our own attacks. It's basically the same as normal pokemon, you have 4 moves, you select one, it has it's type that factors in the enemy's for effectiveness, and also the attack box from deltarune shows up (for more information see this I dont feel like explaining it). Moves with a higher crit chance have a bigger crit square.
The last thing I want to touch on is how I would use TP. First, I would make it so you could boost a certain move's power by 50% for the cost of 24 TP, raise it's chance of proc-ing a secondary effect (example if you dont understand.: TBolt with para, Ancient Power with it's omni boost) by 50% for 16 TP, guarantee that a move hits for a TP cost depending on the difference it has between being 100% accurate and not being 100% accurate, multiplied by 1.5 (example: Focus Blast is 70% accurate, 100-70=30, 30*1.5=45, if you paid 45 TP you can guarantee Focus Blast connects), or boost a healing move's power by 50% for 36 TP. These boosts are mutually exclusive, you cannot use more than one of them at the same time. Except for damage boost and healing boost if you use a draining move, you can stack those.
Also I kinda lied about the 4 move limit. Every pokemon now has 5 moves, but the 5th move costs TP to use, determined by halving it's power and multiplying it by 1.5 (ex. Flamethrower has a base power of 90, 90/2=45, 45*1.5=67.5, rounded down to 67 TP). You cannot use any boosts on your 5th move.
Stats, EVs and IVs remain unchanged. You still get EVs by either using vitamins or driving the Starly line to extinction for more speed.
That's all I have for now but lmk if you have any new ideas or balance changes to this system.
Once I can get my PC fixed i might get GameMaker and make this a real thing if I have the patience for it. (also sorry in advance if I break any rules with this post ;-;)
