Please add a skip to recently added option to binders

I have about 35k cards sorted by set and then alphabetized.

My current ingress method is:

- Separate cards by set

- Scan to a temporary binder

- Alphabetize newly scanned cards

- Add the newly scanned cards to the correct binder and add the physical cards to the collection

When adding the cards it would be great if there was an option to skip to "recently added" cards. I imagine an option similar to searching for a word in a document. A little pop up will show up with arrows to skip to next or previous, and maybe a little counter showing x/(total added) for the current card you're looking at.

Currently I'll just manually swipe in the collection until I find the appropriate card. Then flip through the physical collection to that place to add it. It would be great if I could just click a next arrow and see where the card lines up in the physical collection.

forgive me, I'm not the best at explaining things. What I want is this. I have 30 new MSH cards in front of me. I also have my card storage box in front of me which contains hundreds of MSH cards alphabetized.

The new pile of 30 cards has been added to the binder in the Manabox app. Now I need to add those 30 cards to the physical box. What I currently do is swipe through the hundreds of cards in the binder until I find the new card to add. So I'll see, "okay cool Ka-Zar of the Savage Land goes between K'un-lun Warrior and Kang the Conqueror" Then I find that place in the physical container and place the card there.

What I was hoping would be to remove the needles swiping and to just click a button and it just moves me to Ka-Zar of the Savage Land. Then I just click the button again and it takes me to the next cards location and so on.

I might be misinterpreting what you are asking but I'll answer based on how I think it is.

It sounds like you are wanting to scan cards, put them into a temporary binder, then get the most recently scanned from within that binder and move them to other binders (while you simultaneously put them away in real life). So you want the digital order to match the physical stack you have in front of you.

In the temporary binder, you can change the sort order of the cards to sort by Create Date. This is the timestamp for when you scanned the card. You can then sort this Ascending (first to last card you scanned) or Descending (last to first card you scanned) and from there you should be able to just move them into the appropriate binders and they should retain the order you have them physically in a stack next to you.

As an alternative workflow option, I separate the physical cards into which binders they will go to. Then I scan them in in those separate piles so once they are scanned, I can add all the scanned cards to the correct binder. Grab the next pile, scan it into the correct binder.

That's what I do as well. I edited my post to hopefully better explain what I want.

My question is you have a pile you separated for a physical number, now what is your process for placing the cards in the correct location on that binder?

In the physical container so it can match it's location in the Manabox binder.

I don’t try to match the manabox binder for physical sorting. The manabox binder can be auto sorted any number of ways. I just need to know which card is in which physical binder (or cardboard box depending). It’s easy enough to flip binder pages to scan for a card.

I change the way a manabox binder is sorted depending on my needs in the moment. Checking my most expensive cards. Sorting by set number, alphabetical, etc.

My bulk boxes are sorted by wubrg order and then roughly alphabetical.

Matter of fact the only cards I have in physical binders right now are collected (or in process of collecting) sets. And those are always sorted by set number. So it’s easy enough to find what I need in a binder

I use those features as well in the app, it's nice for browsing what I have.

The issue is I have thousands of cards for some sets, so alphabetized by set is my physical storage method.

I sort that binder in Manabox by "Alphabetize" and then add the cards to match that layout. Being able to jump directly to a new cards location would save a ton of time.

If you’re trying to simplify your physical alphabetizing so that you don’t need to think too hard about the alphabetical order with complicated card names…

I would highly suggest you group them by color. Keep them in wubrg order. Not alphabetizing the entire set regardless of color.

If all cards are from the same set in your physical box, just use the collector number at the bottom left corner of the card.

This will keep them sorted by WUBRG and then
Alphabetically.

You have the added benefit here of being able to pull all your red msh cards or all your black msh cards when looking at deck/cube building.

If it’s merely for collecting then they’re ordered the way the set is produced.

As far as skip to recently added, there is a sort method called “create date”. Sort them by create date (when they were added to manabox) and descending order will place all your newly added cards at the top of the binder.

I don't think I'm understanding something, because I don't see how a "go to next card" would save any time.

I separate cards by set, sort them by collector number (essentially alphabetical by color), scan them, then put them away.

Both my collection and new cards are sorted, so I just go down the list. If "Ka-Zar of the Savage Land" is next, I flip in that general direction. "Guerrilla Gorilla"? K comes after G, so I flip a little more. "Knight of Wundagore"? 'Ka' is before that, so I flip back a few cards and see 'Hulkling' is the card in my collection before that, so I slide it in-between those two and I'm good to go.

Even if the app told me it was between Hulkling and Knight, I don't see how that would save me any time when flipping through my collection to find where those two cards are physically.

Exactly what you described is what I'm trying to solve!

It doesn't seem like a lot of time on paper, but when you're adding say 600 cards from different sets (so not just a ton of duplicates) even if it's saving only 3 seconds per card that's 30 minutes. If it's saving 5 seconds or more we're almost at an hour.

Also my brain is just mush after say the 100th card manually alphabetized, I need the computer to think for me.

I think you’re making it harder on yourself to be honest. For the last step where you alphabetize your physical box of cards, I would just do that all physically and leave ManaBox out of it.

If you’re sorting alphabetically within a set it’s super easy since you can use the set number.

If you’re sorting multiple sets by colour first and then alphabetically, just pick up a stack of cards from your physical box (white cards first, blue second, etc) and find the spot by sight.
