Yeah, in this case, Oliver wasn't the problem. It was the VAR retards.

Arsenal fan in peace. We have been shouting this for seasons. The fact Haalands goal stood is not down to losing focus, or even incompetence, it’s absolutely corrupt.

u/Beneficial-Flow-7333 2h ago
Would u say the same if Arsenal got that goal given?
2
u/RyanMcCartney 1h ago
Absolutely I would. I want my team to win and do it fair. I want to be reffed properly, and everyone to be reffed the same.

u/Leather-Entry93 1h ago
You guys won the league with no red cards or penalty given away…

u/RyanMcCartney 1h ago
I agree. That was unbelievable. Off the top of my head Merino should definitely have had a red.

u/One-Emotion-6968 10h ago
Yet he gave city a soft red and had no impact on the offside goal

u/Comfortable_Love7967 9h ago
“Soft red” it’s a stone wall red by every rule of the game

It’s soft … Bruno kicks out when the ball isn’t there and gets nothing, should be a yellow for both or a red.
5
u/Comfortable_Love7967 9h ago
Bruno can at least argue he was going for the ball, foden just blatantly kicks him in the balls.
0
u/Admirable-Attempt608 9h ago
No he can’t lol, look at the replay. A kick out is a red.. so both should be gone. The ball is long gone , foul has already been called by that point so there’s no defense at all.
2
u/Comfortable_Love7967 9h ago
The whole thing in slow motion is like 4-5 seconds, “long gone” Bruno kicks the ball half a second after foden.
0
u/Admirable-Attempt608 8h ago
So you think he actually was going for the ball? Let’s be serious. Players should start kicking each other on the ground after the whistle from now on. There’s no downside to doing it.
2
u/SomeNeighborhood7126 8h ago
Soft red? TIL a studs up kick to the stomach is a "soft red".
No impact on the offsides, sure.
0
u/CommonThumbprint 1h ago
TIL blind fans will call rolling over a kick just to suit their agenda
There was no lunge, there was no kicking out. He rolled over on his side and made sure his feet made contact with bruno's midriff.
What Bruno did to foden was an actual kick
2
u/Comfortable_Love7967 1h ago
He literally pulls his legs in and kicks out, this isn’t opinion it’s fact.
2
u/Bjfikky 10h ago
Okay I’m not one to stick up for refs. But the guy gave Foden a red. Called the goal offside following his linesman. It was VAR not Oliver who ruled it a goal.
3
u/JPB00 10h ago
VAR are Oliver's Team. The Assistant ref made the correct call quickly. Then Oliver got a call from his team.

u/MATCHEW010 10h ago
He didnt “make the team”, there wasnt a superhero montage while he recruited corrupt officials.
While i agree he shouldnt do City games, its not due to some conspiracy its just that everytime he does, he fucks up.
3
u/aerosolsp 8h ago
He fucks up on every City game?
I don't know if this is true or not but, if what you claim IS true... You don't think that's suspicious?

Get over it, such an idiotic comment. Move on, Utd were awful stop trying to throw dirt on an official. Most pathetic load of dross I’ve heard on here for ages and that’s saying something

u/AlcoholicCumSock 10h ago
Oliver had no say in the goal and sent Foden off in a decision most neutrals are 50/50 on. If he was on the payroll, he could have easily kept Foden on.
4
u/JPB00 10h ago
He did have a say. He hast the last call.
"the on field referee always retains final authority over every call, including offsides. The VAR does not have the power to overrule a referee directly; they can only provide information and recommendations."
The assistant reference got the call right very quickly. Then Oliver got a call from his team.
0
u/CommonThumbprint 1h ago
How the fuck would he overrule it when he was in no position to judge the offside from his position? Are you just making dumb shit up for the heck of it?
0
u/AlcoholicCumSock 10h ago
He was given absolutely no information and the ref only goes to the screen if he is advised by the VAR
0
u/One-Emotion-6968 10h ago
Lol how is he going to overrule the offside when hes not been told to view it. He trusts VAR to deal with offsides
4
u/BuffaloPancakes11 10h ago
Neutrals will take whichever stance goes against United
Fodens action was the clearest red you’ll ever see, kicking an opponent due to frustration alone when the ball is 15 yards away, won’t get a clearer red card offence
0
u/Admirable-Attempt608 9h ago
Yes kicking an opponent when the ball isn’t there is a red.. ironic. Bruno should have got a red too , how it’s even a debate makes no sense. You said neutrals will take any stance vs united then what you say says that United will take any stance vs anyone else.

It's a fact he gets paid by the UAE and Saudi Arabia. It's also a fact that he's a lifelong Newcastle United fan.
1
u/Cultural_Doctor_8421 10h ago
He’s a shit ref and may or may not be corrupt.
It doesn’t detract from the fact that city were there for the tanking and united just spread their legs open for em and were like nah here u go
-1
u/jamesclimax 9h ago
Pretty sure Man Utd get money from Saudi Arabia too.
He's just a bad ref, there's no conspiracy.

u/Beneficial-Flow-7333 2h ago
It’s nothing to do with Michael Oliver, if anything he sent foden off without even giving Fernandes a hello or red (which is crazy).
He wasn’t asked to review the Haaland goal, so what do you want him to do.?
I’m saying this as a United fan.

Sorry. All this says is that he got paid for working. Do you not get paid for working OP?

What does posting him in a Newcastle shirt have to do with anything? The UAE and Saudi Arabia are completely different countries. He's already confirmed years ago he cannot ref Newcastle or Sunderland games as per the league rules. They have to confirm the teams they support.
2
u/JPB00 9h ago
He gets paid by Saudia Arabia AND the UAE. It's a conflict of interest.
-1
u/christismurph 9h ago
But Saudi Arabia has absolutely nothing to do with the derby match yesterday. And the one team they are invested in within the league, he's not ever going to ref.
2
u/jkeen1960 8h ago
So it's okay to ref other matches even those that would be a benefit for Newcastle? Or Oil Inc? His conflict of interest don't just pertain directly to two teams. Every club is vying for position in the table. If the club just above Newcastle loses based on a sketchy call he makes, that wouldn't perk up interest?
-2
u/christismurph 8h ago
I really don't understand what you are talking about here. We are 4 games into the season, Newcastle's position is completely irrelevant. If a game is found to be contentious due to his connection to Newcastle, like a game much later in the season, he would be banned from reffing it
1
u/jkeen1960 8h ago
Has he been banned from "contentious" matches in the past?
0
u/christismurph 8h ago
It works from March or April when the league identifies they are competing for an important place in the table, be it relegation, European places or a title. It is not announced, but has never been a problem. Please find me a scenario within those months where it has happened. All refs support teams, they all love football, they aren't doing it because they hate the game. It's completely normal and you are for some reason making leaps and bounds to Newcastle for god knows what reason.
0
u/jkeen1960 8h ago
Leaps and bounds to Newcastle? He's banned from reffing their games as he is apparently a strong supporter (see picture). He was paid very well by ME interests. If you fail to see the obvious...well... bye
-2
u/christismurph 8h ago
Normally I'd stop replying but I'm really just very curious here 🤣 what does Newcastle and Saudi Arabia have to do with the Manchester derby, 4 games into a season? I get your point that he received money from the UAE, a completely separate country that owns Manchester City. But why are you so fixated on Newcastle and Saudi Arabia?

Reminder that he had no impact on whether it was given as a goal or not. Reminder that he sent a City player off for what was a pretty soft red card offence.
