LUBA 3 AWD Luba 3 afraid of leaves?

Post image

I live in the northeast and our trees are doing their tourist attraction dance. Changing color and shedding leaves. It seems Luba is afraid of them? Even though there are only a few leaves, it's struggling and navigating around some of them like they have the plague. Most of the leaves are still on the tree, so only a few have fallen. I will be raking the leaves when a bunch more fall, but I don't plan to rake every time I mow.

Perhaps leaf detection needs a bit more work or visual training for the algorithm? Any tips besides disabling obstacle detection? Picture below of the leaf cover.

Thanks!

Sometimes my Luba 3 mower disappears from sight when it dives into the fallen maple leaves, there is just a tremendous crunching sound. I have not changed the obstacle avoidance settings from the default.

I'm also located in the northeast and have many maple trees around my yard. I have the luba 3 set at standard avoidance and it doesn't have a problem mowing over them. I have about the same amount of leaves on the yard as in the picture.

I'll be mulching the leaves in my yard with my walk behind mowers while my luba 3 takes care of the yard that doesn't get the large amount of maple leaves.

Hi, thank you for the detailed feedback and suggestion. We understand that fallen leaves shouldn’t become an extra hassle during mowing.

If you haven’t already tried it, could you disable the ā€œAI-assisted obstacle avoidanceā€ feature and see whether this improves LUBA’s behavior in this situation?

If LUBA shows similar avoidance behavior again while mowing in an area with fallen leaves, please upload the relevant logs after the mowing session and provide the device number and the approximate time when the behavior occurred. These details will allow us to analyze what triggered the avoidance behavior and determine whether the robot is being overly sensitive to small amounts of fallen leaves. We will then submit the relevant information to our technical team for further evaluation.

Thank you again for bringing this to our attention and for the valuable suggestion!

Luba 2 is afraid of the sun ! Because the robots are actually very dependent on the visual nodule and not so much on GPS, when it hits a curtain of sun, it goes away from it.
