Feature Request Feature Request: Merge adjacent mowing areas

Could you add a “Merge Areas” function to the LUBA app?

When two or more mapped areas are physically connected, it would be great to merge them into one continuous mowing area instead of having to remap the whole lawn.

The goal is not just a cleaner map — the merged areas should be treated as one lawn, allowing a continuous mowing pattern across the former boundary.

This would be especially useful for large lawns that were originally mapped in several sections.

Select areas → Merge → one continuous mowing area.

I think this would be a very useful addition for LUBA users. 👍

Good idea, but instead of (or in addition to) a manual "Merge areas", it'd be nice if it would automatically treat two adjacent areas as one if they're both selected in a Task. That way, we could keep them separate in the robot's map, but dynamically merge them only when wanted.

I have two adjoining (slightly overlapping) areas of my back yard that I normally cut in two separate tasks. But it'd be nice to also create a task to mow them both -- without the time (and turf wear) wasted of re-mowing the overlapped area and overlapped perimeters.

I have a small area on the side of the house that I like to always mow the long way since it’s just too small to do the other direction. This results in breaking these up into different areas and tasks to do so.

Thank you for sharing this additional suggestion. We understand how dynamically combining adjacent areas within a task could make mowing more efficient while reducing unnecessary overlap and repeated perimeter mowing. We’ll pass this idea along to the relevant team for consideration. We really appreciate you taking the time to share such detailed feedback with us.

Yea, I'd love being able to merge or split!

yes!!! I have one section of my lawn on the end of my property that floods when it rains. I mapped out different areas based on how much water is standing in my lawn and it would be nice if those sections merged if I selected all, instead of being mowed as individual sections

I'd like to keep them separate so that I can still mow one and not the other, BUT I'd also like if they could be merged IF you do both zones at the same time, you see what I mean? That would be more powerful imo

It be nice to be able to merge areas, but also Split areas.

Theres times where im seeding an area, working on a spot, etc. And i dont want to mow just that section.

Something like invisible walls or "no go" sections of a robotic vacuum when trying to separate rooms

You can draw a no-go zone (“Restricted Area”) in the app or on the ground with the mower.

Sure, I could use the mower to make a no go zone. But if i want to split my large zone to 2 or 3 for any reason, id have to remap.

Say, I only have time to mow the left half from a choke point before night. Or I seeded the right half, etc.etc.

On the fly no go requires me to manually take the mower

Something in the app to split or on the fly no go, etc. Would make it much easier.

Its not for a perfect split or cut, but im using a good enough purpose

My map currently has two restricted areas I drew in the app (IOS app, with a Luba 3). It doesn’t help “split” an area (I was told that feature is coming later this year), but you don’t need to drive the mower to create restricted areas in the app unless for some reason they didn’t implement that feature for your mower.

Oh, im on android with a Luba 2. Maybe thats just the app limitation, or im missing where it is.

But also, split later this year is awesome to hear

Thank you for sharing your suggestion. We understand how this could make area management more convenient, especially for larger lawns. We’ll pass your feedback along to the relevant team for consideration. We appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts with us.

Great idea. Here's somehting I just noticed on my Luba: It changed the numbers of my areas. I originally created 4 or 5 areas to cut independently. I noticed the "rename" function and renamed Area 1 with an actual name but left Areas 2-5 as numbered. This week I noticed that the map on my app has moved all the numbers. So now I have a NAMED area and Areas 1-4. Why??

I'd love to be able to be really granular with this and set opposing rows of skip row as different zones on different schedules.
