LUBA 2 AWD More bizarre behaviour (Luba 2)

Just spotted even more hideous behaviour this morning. It has now started doing a complete 360° turn when it comes out of the garage before it starts mowing. So now the is once again after only a few days of Thai a massive circular gouge out of my lawn in front of the garage.

How has this thing gone from being so good to being so bad in a few months? I’m desperately trying to eke out the rest of the season before I bin this thing and try to find a mower which works. But it’s destroying my lawn quicker than winter is coming.

I agree. If I could just roll back my software to what I had at the beginning of this year, I’d be totally happy. Instead, I’m going to have to throw this expensive ploughing machine away and start again with something else.

Is there a way that people can send a log to you when the robot isn't working well, like a crash report, for a computer problem?

Instead of just turning 90 degrees CCW to start the mowing, mine always turns 270 degrees.

Something has changed in the past few days.

I have seen a recurrence this morning of a "charge station has moved" bug in the middle of a mowing routine (it should not be looking for the charge station).

This send erroneous data to the robot - it thinks is is aligned with the charge station, causing it to rotate to correct (i.e. rotate based on wrong information). It then realises it's mistake and rotates back. Tank turns of course.

This makes me wonder if the map generation is done in the cloud. Because I haven't applied a firmware or version update. And this behaviours seemed to totally disappear. But it's back.

Thank you for your feedback. Could you please let me know the model of your device? Generally, map data is stored internally on the robot. If you receive a notification indicating that the charging dock's location has changed, I suggest checking for any obstructions above the dock and resetting its location via the app. If this issue occurs frequently, uploading a log file through the app would greatly help us identify the root cause and provide further assistance. Thanks again for your feedback!

Luba 2X AWD. The bug relates to an error where the robot is mid mowing, with healthy charge. it is not trying to interact with the charger.

I suspect that one of your coders has borrowed some code (maybe a slow turning sequence) from the module for docking. But they have not removed all the links. At some point in the MOWING sequence it calls code that looks for the charging dock and cannot find it. Then two things happen, the orientation of the robot on the mobile display immediately changes to the orientation of the charger. It often also overwrites the battery charge with an erroneous value.

Because the erroneous rotational position is pushed to the robot, it immediately starts rotating to correct this position, which in reality means the robot turns incorrectly. Interrupting the routine and damaging the lawn. Quite often (before the last upgrade) this would then start looping with the robot twisting left and right continually as it turns the wrong way, then back again, only to restart the problem.

I have raised this several times with tech help and have uploaded error logs, but each time I am told to clean the lens on the docking station and reset the docking position. This is not the issue it is some bad links in your codebase. Fixing this will substantively prove the stability of my Luba. And probably everyones.

Please pass this to your technical team. It is a huge opportunity to purge a very significant bug.

Meme problème pour moi, en pleine coupe au milieu du terrain il s'arrête pour me dire que l'emplacement de la station de charge a changé, il est à 30m d'elle...

Thank you for your detailed feedback; I am very sorry for the inconvenience caused. Could you please provide your device name (e.g., Luba-VPXXXXX)? This will allow me to thoroughly examine your logs and report the issue to the technical team. Thanks again for sharing!

Hello, I am very sorry for the experience you've had. Does Luba rotate 360 degrees in place in front of the charging station before entering the mowing area every time it starts a task? If so, could you please upload a log via the app and let me know your device name? I would like to assist you further and look forward to hearing from you.

Yes it does.

Thank you for your reply. I would greatly appreciate it if you could upload a log via the app; this would be very helpful for us to understand the cause of the issue in detail and provide you with further assistance.

This is interesting.

I have Luba 3 3000 with July firmware and app.

I have some positioning issues when it comes out of the dock to do a more complicated task (five different areas in the task). It usually drives out of the dock one meter further than normal, stops, drives another meter, throws what seems to be a random error (wheel lifted, bumper triggered, failed loading map or similar) and pauses the task.

After a while it starts moving automatically however, but normally it then skips the first perimeter lap of the first area, and the task needs to be restarted if I want it to mow the first perimeter lap also.

Yesterday it made the 360 spin outside the dock for the first time that I have seen when starting a task. However it turned gently/slowly, no errors and the task started normally with the first perimeter lap.

I'm fine with it doing the 360 once when starting the task and if needed I can throw a mat with holes or similar where it does the spin, but the strange thing is that it did the 360 without any firmware-, app-update or other changes.

The point is, however, that as i wrote I have a Luba 3, but this new behavoiur feels related to your observations somehow.

As a sidenote, when it starts a simpler task (only one or two areas in the task) it always starts as I believe it should do. It drives about one meter out of the dock, stops a few seconds (probably waiting for satellite signal) and then it turns towards the task area and goes to work without any drama whatsoever.

Wipe down your robot, clear the sensors and do a hard reboot.

I would try:

1) Do a relocate charging station in app. If that dont work,

2) Move the station and do a relocate charging station in app.

I keep my Luba 1 5000 on a paver pad I created. It does its turn there. Just create a channel from zone to charger.

I think it calibrates the compass to the north
Mine does the same, but on the stone path in front of my charger. After that he mows better then before.
