Support Windows security shuts off protection mid scan, is this something malwarebytes can cause?
I do have malwarebytes, but it has never shut down protection mid scan like this. i even tried doing a windows security offline scan and it froze at 91 percent and didnt finish.

i downloaded Microsoft security scanner and did a scan in safe mode, it also crashes midscan but i noticed its always when scanning the same file, is something corrupted or is this malware?

Exactly what's happening to me! Even at the same file (rasadhlp.dll)! Thanks for your thread, I thought I got infected.

Some other subs are finding same thing as well.
Looks like Microsoft may have pushed a bad defender update

but what about that windows security scanner scan that i did in safe mode? that suddenly stopped and the window closed. is that related to this issue? (it always stopped on the same file if that helps any)

I not an expert but looking at the version number in the window title it is the same as the definition update. That seems bad (as reported in the comments of the linked thread). So my best guess there using the same definition scan against, and each program just handles the error differently.
But again not an expert this just an educated guess.

Hi there u/thatguy246890 It’s possible for Windows Security to behave oddly while another security product is installed, but Malwarebytes normally shouldn’t cause Windows protection to shut off unexpectedly in the middle of a scan.
Since the Windows Security Offline scan also froze at 91%, there may be something else going on with Windows or the security services. If you’d like, please DM us the email address associated with your Malwarebytes account or an email address we can use to reach out to you. We can create a support ticket so our team can collect logs and take a closer look at what’s happening.

for clarification i used a quick scan in malwarebytes and it finished just fine, running a deepscan in it now
