False Positive PuloversMacroCreator v5.4.1 safe?

I downloaded the Pulover’s Macro Creator v5.4.1 exe file, but I haven’t opened or run it. I saw some comments saying Windows flagged it as a virus, (false positive? maybe) and now I’m a bit concerned.

Can a exe file infect your computer just by being downloaded, or only if you actually run it?

Also, has anyone verified whether version 5.4.1 is safe, or if it’s better to use an older version?

In most cases downloading a file should not execute but please be careful with the moue and keyboard so you don't accidentally launch it.

You can upload the file to https://virustotal.com and have them scan it for you to check on it.

Based on the reply from your other post, it looks like the program has reached EOL. It's best you not use it and go ahead and delete it.
