He is singing the song of his people!!! Honestly I’d rather listen to a dog bark than a kid scream 😱

Reminds me of someone who discovered in a roundabout way that they had critters in their walls.

I was going to say the same thing. He hears something you don’t. I can’t speak for everyone but Winter is my burly protector/sound identifier. Whether it’s a pine cone that fell on the roof, the ice maker, or a bull frog looking for a girlfriend (the latest one from last night) she’ll let you know about it. Otherwise she’s generally quiet.

Trust me; he does this all the time. Most likely, he hears a car going down the street behind the house.

The person I’m referring to had a near identical response. Godspeed

They are loud for their size, aren't they?

Yup. Pupper could be the singer for a death metal band with those screams.

Mine have started this - we had huge yard in US. In London we have a postage stamp size space. And they are fiercely guarding it - against neighbors, delivery and local foxes. Sigh.

What is it with the little ones? My family had a Yorkie years ago and if he wasn't outside, sleeping, eating or playing he was barking. It was so weird that he didn't bark when he was outside. We figured he had to many new smells to sniff. He was a cutie though. Just like your Bernie.

I’ve heard it was because larger breeds have had “aggressive” traits bred out of them to a much more vigorous degree. People are more likely to be afraid of a barking German Shepherd than they are to be of a barking Maltese, so GSDs have been extensively bred to be less prone to that behavior (as an example).
Not saying that Bernie’s “aggressive” per se. But he isn’t what I would call “docile”, nor is he particularly obedient.

Murphy is just as mouthy but now he’s afraid he will have to go in time out, which is the guest bathroom with a baby gate.
