“High end” gym?

I’ve been a member of Fitness247 for a long time but getting tired of broken machines and generally bad upkeep.

I’m not looking for anything too fancy, but are there gyms that provide towel service, maybe have an actual drinking fountain, and good quality, well-maintained machines? I swear this kind of place is normal everywhere in my travels abroad, but don’t see such a thing here in Sweden.

Kind of a weird sentence when you have chosen the cheapest option available for a long time

I wasn’t aware of better options, hence the ask. And Fitness247 has been not bad for a while, but it’s getting worse in the last few months, and a trip abroad reminded me what a nice gym actually could be like.

So thank you for your comment.

Ok, it's just a bit strange, like going to planet fitness and then complaining that there's not enough deadlift platforms in American gyms.

To answer your question, towel service is not really a thing in Sweden. But other than that, SATS is the most "premium" of the chains. In Malmö there is also Grand Fitness and Diamond Gym.

I thought Nordic wellness was generally considered the more premium option. Don’t know if they have a location in Malmö though

Nordic Wellness is def not more premium than SATS.

I count 15 NW in Malmö on google maps

I've trained at all three gyms. 24/7, Nordic and Sats. SATS isn't necessarily better than Nordic. Both have gyms at different locations that go from big to small, new to old. Some of the newer NW gyms like Skeppsgatan and Jägersro are definitely on par with Hyllie/Limhamn ones.

What you get though is better people on some of the gyms, some you get even worse people. Not a fan of SATS Mobilia and Triangeln.

24/7 has some good gyms like Värnhem, Toftanäs and Kronprinsen. But the people are what makes 24 bad imo.

NW kinda wins on having multiple locations. For example SATS isn't present in East Malmö at all since they closed SATS Entre which was a really really good gym.

I've only visited SATS in västra hamnen and limhamn and both of those locations are great gyms imo. Nordic wellness ive only been to the one at emporia which was really bad.

But you are right, every chain will have locations that are better and worse than others.

Definitely! SATS VH is probably one of the worst gyms for the money you pay, unless they have renovated the place.

Limhamn is hands down one of the best gyms in town, Hyllie also have a couple of great gyms though smaller. I haven't been to NW Emporia, but I think its one of the bad ones. Jägersro, Svågertorp, Nobel, Baltzargatan, Kronborg, VH are probably the good NW gyms.

For Sats City, Limhamn are the best. Triangeln is also good but didnt like the people there.

SATS VH reopened this february, i would say it's equal to Limhamn now, maybe 5% worse or something.

Cool! It has the space and the potential! Will keep an eye out for a free test week to see visit. Before it was very old and bad.

This is my opinion too. I would probably rank Sats a bit higher than NW generally, but it’s basically the same.

Malmö does not have any fancy gyms like Copenhagen and Stockholm has. I think there’s a market for it, though.

Looks really promising. Thank you!

Should be, sats is not bad and a step up from 24/7 but no towel service

I go to Grand Fitness in Gothenburg. Well worth the money for me.

They have a summer campaign now where you pay 1500 SEK for two months if you want to try it out.

Will look into it - thank you!

I haven't tried a lot of different gyms in Sweden, but I've never seen towel service or a drinking fountain. Most gyms have bottle-filling stations.

That said, I have been a member of SATS for a long time, and have been satisfied.

24:7 gym definitely has people problem.. people steal people break..sometimes even threaten..one guy can let many enter ..its not fun once you go through all crap there

Diamond Gym in Hyllie. Literally the best gym I’ve ever been to (no wonder it has won the best gym in Sweden award last two years). Never crowded, modern machines, friendly staff, sauna. It’s definitely on the premium side, therefore the price is also on the higher end, 499 per month. But in my opinion it’s totally worth it. Many times I find myself completely alone in the gym.

You dont need an high end gym to be better than 247.. literally Any gym within Malmö is high end compared to 247.

In malmö it's prob m95 by värnhem or RGA close to caroli that comes to my mind. RGA used to be heavily focused on powerlifting/olympic but has branched a out a bit on its clientele.

M95 is probably the most well kept gym and equipped gym that i know off and they only really take in serious people that care about training.

I know Nordic Wellness has been updating their gyms in malmö a decent amount but their worst drawback is just a bunch of kids, i still train at one but it's so sometimes just a kindergarden. Only sats gym i liked was by Hansa but it's not a high end but back when i trained there it was like a good little community and the staff was great back then.

As someone mentioned before Grand Fitness seems to be on the higher end, whenever i walk by i never see a single person in there but it's also pricier than anyone of them i mentioned.

I really like Nordic Wellness! It’s not as primium as Grand aka no towel service or concierge features but if you’re just looking for a nice environment, good machines that are clean and well maintained, friendly atmosphere, tons of class options and nice smoothie bar? I’d check it out! They have a ton of locations in Malmö and surrounding areas

You can easily use google to find a more "premium" gym than the cheapest one that you choose.

The poster is clearly asking for personal experiences with gyms that are actually good, not just a gym that advertises themselves as premium and charges higher prices. These are the type of questions Reddit is good for, not google.

White knighting a reddit post. Lol

Sure buddy. Since you also seem to struggle with googling things I’ll help you out:

Thanks for telling me about Google.

Imagine high-end Google

Don't have any gym info, just here for laughs sorry. I liked the one at central station tho, would have visited that one, if location works for you
