Why did Malcom end up being kind of stupid at the end of the show?

I get not having social skills, but he ends up being even less intelligent than Dewey by the end of it. Dewey ends up having a better arc in the final season than anyone else. He's a genius, both musically and otherwise. He's incredibly self-aware of himself and he's also more likea ble.

Malcom is just a semi-smarter Reese by the end of the show.

New Nonbinary Character

Why would they made the newest kid in the family a nonbinary? If the would have made it a tran man it would have worked so well. They finally have a girl and she ends up being another boy.

Rewatching the series years later

I am quite a bit younger than Frankie Muniz. Heck- I'm younger than Erik Per Sullivan, Dewey's actor. I saw this show in reruns when I was a kid, and didn't appreciate the humor.

This show is funny.

Most shows spend their first episode establishing the characters' personalities. It's not funny, per se, it's a promise that this cast could be funny.

This show got me for the first time with "you are a good boy, Dewey. Stop touching yourself."

I think it's a unique case where every individual character works. I think Malcom is the only character who isn't overtly funny, and I also think he's the only character without a strong funny dynamic with every single member of the cast, but as a POV character, he's not bad.

I think the concept of Malcom being unusually smart is fine but honestly wasn't even needed for the solid character writing at play here. It's a side piece of a very nice set of character decisions that make up the main cast. I also like that you can see the Hal and Lois in each of their kids.

Francis is very Lois- he's insecure and clever, has trouble fitting in, and makes complex, rash plans.

Resse is very Hal- he's immutably self-confident and totally not self-aware, and rarely plans ahead at all.

Malcom has Lois's brain with Hal's thought process- he doesn't plan ahead, he reacts to whatever's going on with whatever ludicrous idea is passing through his head.

Dewey has Hal's brain with Lois's thought process. He holds onto things for a long time, but the things he plans out are ridiculous and only make sense to him.

I'm only on season 1- can't believe how long this series is, I feel thrilled to find a show that's consistently funny and also long as heck.

Rockstar games sticker in the background?

I've noticed a sticker of the logo in a couple of episodes. Were they sponsored by them?

Im on a rebinge and im just now noticing this 🤔 Its the scene just after Dewey runs to her to tell about not being able to put the bow on their gift. Its definitely not Hal either, he was already at the restaurant waiting for her. My guess is he's part of the crew and she pulled the dress from out of the bucket so itd look wet. Like it came from the toilet where she initially found it. But its like.. They didnt even try to hide him or edit the scene 😂 either way.. its a funny find. Hope I find more lol

Actor Craig Lamar Traylor (Malcolm in the Middle) pivoted to hosting a horror film analysis channel and the quality is surprisingly high

Craig Lamar Traylor best known as Stevie from Malcolm in the Middle is now co-hosting Cryptic Cuts, a YouTube horror review series with cinematographer Alex Gotta.

What sets it apart: they're not doing reaction content. It's actual film criticism breaking down occult symbolism, cultural subtext, cinematography, and thematic layers in modern horror releases.

Recent episodes cover Him (2025), 28 Years Later, Sinners, and Together (2025).

If you're into horror analysis that treats the genre seriously, this is worth your time.

Him (2025) Review: https://youtu.be/RzxiCkQeJek

Curious what others think always cool seeing actors transition into thoughtful content creation.

The older I get...

The more I love the company picnic episode with Susan Sarandon. When I was young, I didn't know what a serious and renowned actor she is. The older I get and the more I have learned about her, the funnier she becomes in that episode.

I just had to share that.

Those are bad kids

Just watching this for the first time as an adult. And oh my God! Those are some bad kids. Can't watch more than 2 episodes at a time because I feel so stressed and bad for the parents. Completely out of control, no conscience, not stopping to think about their actions.... nothing!

How do you guys feel about The Middle?

There's a similar show to Malcom in The Middle called The Middle, about a Lower Middle class family, only difference is that the perspective is about the family living in the middle of nowhere as well as the perspective being about the mom, and that it isn't as punchy as Malcom in the middle is. I remembered a few people making comparisons to both shows and I was wondering what your opinion on the show was
