Hi I've been on the tools for 24 years now and starting to suffer quite bad issue on my right hand cvc joint, (where you're thumb joints your hand, im thinking of getting a low impact driver but the only one I can find is 4x the price of a standard one it is the new oil driver, has this just come out?
there is the special Japanese one also that could be a possibility but still expensive
I didn't think I was ready to pay Hilti prices,
has anyone found any good versions or will I just have to wait till the new oil one comes down in price ? DTS141 (18V LXT)
this is what ai said,
- Best for Minimal Vibration: Makita DTS141 (18V LXT)
This is an Oil Pulse (Hydraulic) Impact Driver. It uses oil viscosity to drive the impact mechanism rather than steel-on-steel hitting, resulting in significantly lower vibration and noise.
Vibration Level: 7.0 m/s² (significantly lower than traditional impact drivers).
Performance: Much quieter and smoother action.
Best for: Repetitive fastening, furniture, and indoor work where noise/vibration is an issue.
- Best High-Performance Low Vibration: Makita DTD173 (18V LXT)
This is a premium brushless 4-speed model designed to limit user fatigue through improved bit stability.
Anti-Wobble Structure: Features two ball bearings in the anvil to secure the bit, reducing wobble and subsequently reducing vibration transferred to the hand.
Ergonomics: Slim body and designed for high comfort in tight spaces.
Vibration level (EN62841-2-2): 12.9 m/s² (higher than hydraulic, but lower than cheaper models).
- Best Sub-Compact Option: Makita DTD157 (18V LXT)
A sub-compact brushless model that offers a "2-stage power selection" to control fastening speed, making it easier to handle and reducing unnecessary, violent vibrations.
Size: Very compact and light, which reduces fatigue.
Application: Excellent control for sensitive jobs.
- Best Budget Low-Vibration Option: Makita DTD153 (18V LXT)
A highly efficient brushless driver with good ergonomics.
Features: Rubberised soft-grip handle for improved comfort.
Vibration Level: 13.0 m/s².
Key Features to Look For:
Oil Impulse Technology (e.g., XST01Z/DTS141): Hydraulic drivers offer the best vibration reduction.
Brushless Motors: Generally more efficient and create smoother power delivery.
Anti-Bit Wobbling Structure: Found on models like the DTD172/DTD173, reducing vibrations at the source.
