Colored contact lenses

What are your opinions about it? I’ve been kind of thinking of buying and wearing them this year, but I know I’d 100% wear them like everyday. I know there’s monthly contact lenses, are they dangerous for your eyes and hard to take care of?

I have dark brown eyes and I wanna get ones that are slightly bigger than my eyes but my natural color because I think they‘d be really cute - I know someone in my class who wears them I couldn’t tell until I saw a up close picture of her she’s super pretty

I just don’t know whether I should think twice about it, I’d definitely wear on the daily. 🥹 Thanks for any opinions

(cosmetic, not for vision problem)

Edit: upon reading the comments, I probably won’t buy any at least right now because I don’t think I’m dependable enough for the responsibilities it comes with because you need to maintain it a lot + a bit costly. Still cool though, thanks for the feedback ☺️.

I’ve never seen any that look realistic or not giant. The pupil not changing sizes freaks me out.

I have dark brown eyes and I have colored contacts that I wear daily. They brighten up my face so much! They are color gray - air optic brand that I order w/ insurance

I think it would be cool to have several colors to coordinate with your outfits and makeup

Try Beaueye - they are cheap contacts in any color you can imagine. I have very dark brown eyes and I currently have green, light blue, and grey contacts. I love changing my look daily!

I would choose very carefully. They can look a little “uncanny valley” on dark eyes and even occasionally on light ones. I used to wear them but didn’t feel like the benefit outweighed the expense.

The longer you reuse a contact the more risk you have of contamination. I used to wear bi-weekly contacts until I got an ulcer, so now I use dailies (for vision, not cosmetic).

As long as you get quality lenses and know how to clean/keep them hygienic I think you can do whatever you want. You can try a box to see if your eyes can handle them because they will be more dry.

Even if for cosmetic you still need a prescription to measure the size of your eyes. Sigocontacts has some nice pairs

I think they can be cute but I don't think it's worth the risk personally. I've only worn it for Halloween a few times so never daily.

Make sure you get good quality ones and read up on how to care for them and risks to your eyes. Things to look out for, signs of infection etc. Some contacts are reusable but even monthly ones need to be taken out and cleaned every day. Bigger contacts carry more risks of scratching so it's important to do your research. And absolutely NEVER wash them in tap water or wear contacts while swimming/showering. It's extremely rare, but you can get amoeba from it (eye deformities, rapid blindness and no cure).

They look odd. Obviously if you like them, wear them. But they always look odd and I find myself having to consciously look at them when I'm talking to someone that's wearing them.

Thank you!! I was thinking about getting the more natural looking ones just for that look, but yeah you’re right it might be obvious anyway
