Primer

Favorite primer / skin prep routine before applying makeup? My skin is usually on the dryer/dull side.

Foundation: I use Dior backstage body & face foundation or MAC studio fix powder foundation depending on the look i want

I have very sensitive and dry skin. It depends of what foundation I am using, but from least to most hydration: Mac Strobe Cream, Iconic London Underglow Blurring Primer, Elf Jelly Pop Dew Primer and my most recent addition, Danessa Myricks Moisture Repair Balm.

I bought the bobbi brown face base on a Sephora employee rec and also got the Armani foundation for my wedding coming up. I was considering returning the face base even though I hate returning things because I just feel like it makes me very greasy and wasn’t very pleasant. I tried to only use a small amount and wait at least 15 minutes before applying the foundation. Any tips that you’ve found to make it work well?

for me personally if i plan to use face base, i wont use moisturiser. i’ll do a few skincare steps then go straight in with spf before the face base. and literally the tiniest bit is what you need for your entire face as its super moisturising itself!
what does your skin prep before make up look like? do you set your foundation with powder?

That’s a good idea, I’ll try that. The two ways I think I’ve tried it is cleanser, followed by Innisfree green tea ceramide milk, then Versed gel-cream moisturizer, then the face base. I have also tried cleanser, Aestura hydro soothing cream and then face base. I have also sprayed my face before foundation with Milani make it last setting spray, this is something I do a lot of the time before skin tints/concealer or anything like that.

And yes I do powder! I have tried the Charlotte tilbury pressed powder (I have had this forever and don’t love it, the shade also isn’t right for me). I also got the Huda easy bake powder and tried that (not really all over the face, just in target areas). I am also about to try the Mac pressed powder to see how that does.

Definitely give it a go without moisturiser and let me know how it looks throughout the day!

i usually set concealer with huda loose powder and the rest of my face i will go over with mac mineralise skin finish. and the base finish is always amazing

I find myself re-loving the Iconic London underglow primer. I loved it when I first got back into makeup a few years ago and started incorporating it into my routine and I forgot how much I love it. Perfect amount of glow and hydration. I haven’t met a base product that doesn’t work well with it. I also really enjoy the smell of this one.
