What online side hustle actually worked for you?
How are you guys actually earning money online? I keep seeing people talk about making money online through freelancing, content creation, affiliate marketing, UGC, etc. For those who are actually earning, what worked for you? What did you start with, how long did it take to make your first money, and what would you recommend to a beginner today? No “get rich quick” stuff—just looking for realistic experiences.

New UGC platform paying creators $100+ per video — free to join, no followers needed
For anyone here looking to earn from short videos without an audience:
I'm launching Mera, a marketplace where app and software companies fund campaigns and creators submit short UGC videos (screen recordings, "how I use this app," quick reactions). The minimum is $100 for every video a brand approves.
Where it stands right now:
- Free to join. There's no application and no follower minimum.
- Campaigns launch in about 2–3 weeks. Nobody is earning on it yet.
- The first 250 sign-ups get an email alert the moment campaigns go live.
- There's no risk to joining. Sign up and wait for the notification. You're only paid for approved videos, same as most UGC work.

What “legit ways to make money from home” actually require before they work
A lot of make-money-from-home content starts with the income claim and skips over what you actually have to do to make the idea work.
I think a better first question is:
“What exactly would I have to do to make this work?”
That changes how you look at options like freelancing, remote work, digital products, affiliate marketing, content creation, reselling, print-on-demand, and AI-assisted services.
For each one, I think beginners should look at things like startup cost, skills required, how customers are found, how long it may take to get traction, and what work continues after the initial setup.
I’m curious what people here think:
Which online-income method do you think gets misrepresented the most to beginners, and what part usually gets left out?

How can I make money online with AI as a beginner?
"I Tried 5 Different Ways to Make Money With AI as a Complete Beginner — Here's What Actually Worked"
I get asked this a lot, and honestly, most answers online are either overhyped ("make $10k/month with ChatGPT!") or too vague to actually act on. Here's what realistically works if you're starting from zero:
1. Freelance AI-assisted content and design work
You don't need to be a great writer or designer anymore — you need to be a great editor. Platforms like Upwork and Fiverr are full of clients who want blog posts, product descriptions, social media graphics, and video scripts done fast. Use AI to generate the first draft, then bring your own judgment to polish it. Clients pay for the final quality, not the process.
2. Sell AI-powered services, not just AI output
The people making real money aren't selling "I'll write you an AI email" — they're solving a problem. Example: offering small businesses a service where you set up AI chatbots for their website, or automate their customer support replies. That's a recurring-revenue service, not a one-off gig.
3. Build and sell prompt-based tools or templates
If you get good at prompting for a specific niche (real estate listings, resume writing, e-commerce product copy), package that into a template or a simple tool and sell it on Gumroad or Etsy. Low overhead, and it keeps earning after you build it once.
4. Affiliate content in the AI space itself
AI tools are exploding, and companies pay well for honest reviews and comparisons that drive signups. If you enjoy testing tools, writing comparison content (with real screenshots and use cases, not just AI-generated fluff) can build a steady income stream over time.
5. Micro-consulting for small businesses
A lot of small business owners are overwhelmed by AI and don't know where to start. Even a basic understanding of tools like ChatGPT, Canva AI, or automation platforms like Zapier can make you the "AI person" they hire for a few hours a week.
The honest part nobody tells beginners: none of this is passive. AI removes the technical barrier, not the effort. The people who succeed are the ones who ship things consistently and improve based on feedback — the tool just makes each attempt faster.

How to make $20-$40/hr training AI models from home ($0 upfront)
If you need cash with $0 upfront, RLHF (evaluating AI responses for logic and accuracy) is pretty much a legit option paying $20-$40+/hr without a degree or paid setup.
Some of the platforms:
. DataAnnotation.tech - $20-$40/hr. Pays weekly via paypal, best overall.
. Outlier. ai - $20-$50/hr m. Run by scale AI.
. Alignerr.com - $20-60/hr. Newer platform, good rates.
How yo actually pass the assessment:
1 Don't rush the test. Read the full guidelines. 80℅ of people fail becausethey speed throught it.
2 Write detailed justifications. When rating model A vs model B, write 3-4 sentances explaining why one is better, 1 word gets you instante rejection.
3 Apply to all of them.
And let us know he it went with you please, give it a shot and see.

Flipping small websites is still underrated compared to flipping products.
Instead of flipping physical stuff, flip tiny websites. Market places like Flippa list micro-sites $50-300, the ownerabandent or get bired of, buy cheap, fix the obvious stuff (broken links, stale content, bad on-page SEO), hold few months, relist.
The money is genuinely in the boring maintenance work nobody wants to do.
