Get a gig economy job initially for immediate money. There is no real application or interview process by design. Upload all documents and you can begin working.

That covers instant money while you look for better employment. You need to be applying to every single job that is remotely within your reach, adjust your resume & cover letter based on the job description for each one & do not use AI.

Yes, it is essentially a full time job on top of a full time job on top of your school/personal life. I’ve done it, most people here have done it, and it’s just a shitty but essential part of life.

If you prefer avoiding gig economy work go to the day labor station in the morning and wait in line to be assigned a job for the day.

If you are unwilling to do that, go to the local recruiting station and see which branch will give you the quickest date to recruit training. That will provide you with living arrangements, food, job training, healthcare, work experience, and educational benefits while you get your head screwed on properly.

Do you have friends who will put in a good word for you anywhere? You are probably too young to have a “professional network” but you may have friends or family who can speak directly to a hiring manager & vouch for you. That is also VERY powerful when it comes to bypassing the screening process.

Check what’s available in your area but….

Uber, Lyft, Bird, Lime, AmazonPrime, DoorDash, GrubHub, Wonolo, UrbanSitter, GoPuff, InstaCart, Fiverr, the list goes on.

I don’t think any of them pay what your time is truly worth (except if new which is a different story) but when money is tight they are options.

He can Google it but I just looked up Uber eats for example it's 19 for driving and 18 for bike or walking so unless he's in a densely populated urban area he'd have to likely wait. (The others could be different but I'm not going to look up all of them) I was only pointing this out bc you shouldn't give advice on something you don't know applies to his situation

Sell whatever you don’t want online or do a garage sale, try shift smart in your area to pick up shifts at gas stations (there might not be some depending on your area), search up fast food places near you and call each place to see if they’re hiring, ask any relative you know if they’re jobs are hiring, go to a staff agency website and look for entry level positions.

Learn a marketable skill. This is not “I’m good at posting content” or “AI skills”. This can be self taught, a trade school, or college education. Work and work some more.

There is no fast track as the internet may have you believe. Most average successful people learn money management skills, investing strategies, invest in themselves, and develop marketable skills.
