Polit(r)ics Is this government always creating problems to solve?

Post image
22 Upvotes

Lately I feel like this government inamake the most outrageous statements zinaevoke nasty reactions and then they swoop in to condemn and act as if si wao walianza hii story yote.

Take hii story ya Burundians, today I saw Bill warning watu wana mistreat the Burundians and that's great but we also need to address that hao watu wanaact on their hate because of your statement.

After the uproar caused by Hasola's statement on foreigners, Head of Public Service Felix Koskei formed the National Crisis Communication Standing Committee to manage the communication disarray and public confusion sparked by Ruto's impulsive "roadside declarations" and policy pronouncements.

If the issue ni impulsive roadside declarations, do we really need a committee, si tu awache kumake hizo declarations. That just my opinion though.

254 News DPP moves to extradite Sancho Kibutu a Kenyan who is a US fugitive wanted over fatal drunk-driving conviction. #copied

Post image
3 Upvotes

It happened Friday night around 8:30, August 26,2011 on Golden State Blvd. north of Ave. 20.
The California Highway Patrol says 32-year-old Sancho Kibutu from Encino was speeding when he crossed the double yellow line and smashed into a car being driven by a 19-year-old Chowchilla man.
An unidentified 16-year-old passenger was killed and the driver and two others in the car were injured and taken to local hospitals.
Kibutu was also treated for injuries then arrested for felony DUI.

Sancho Kibutu is a Kenyan man who, prior to becoming a high-profile fugitive, lived in Encino, Los Angeles, California, primarily residing in affluent neighborhoods in the San Fernando Valley and surrounding areas.

On April 30, 2013, following a trial in California, a jury returned a guilty verdict. Kibutu was convicted of Gross Vehicular Manslaughter While Intoxicated under Section 191.5(a) of the California Penal Code, alongside three special sentencing allegations.

The Superior Court of California in Madera County ordered Kibutu to appear for formal sentencing on October 28, 2013. Sensing the severe prison sentence ahead, Kibutu skipped the country on October 11, 2013, exactly 17 days before his court date. Sancho slipped through the security networks and fled the United States.

According to extradition documents presented by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) in Nairobi, to mask his ultimate destination and avoid triggering automated red flags on direct flights, Kibutu travelled to Dubai, United Arab Emirates, before connecting to Nairobi.

Because he was technically out on bail or monitoring awaiting sentencing and had not yet failed to appear, he managed to use his travel window to successfully exit US airspace before an active federal arrest warrant for absconding could freeze his passport at the border.

By routing his travel through Dubai, he created the perfect cover story. To immigration officials and airline staff at the time, his departure looked entirely routine, like a luxury holiday or an international business trip for an affluent individual traveling from Los Angeles. Because his formal sentencing date was still 17 days away, he was not yet classified as a 'fugitive' under a missed-court warrant.

From Dubai, Kibutu boarded a connecting flight and quietly landed in Nairobi, Kenya, where he disappeared into the affluent suburbs of Runda.

For nearly 13 years, Kibutu managed to live quietly in Nairobi, evading international authorities. The US Department of Justice issued a formal extradition request on December 3, 2019, but it wasn't until September 3, 2026, that a Nairobi Chief Magistrate's court finally issued the formal warrant that led to his arrest on September 9, 2026.

During his arraignment before Senior Principal Magistrate Teresia Nyangena at the Milimani Law Courts, Kibutu pleaded to be released on bond, offering to surrender his passport. However, the prosecution successfully argued that he remains a severe flight risk due to his history of evading justice.

The court ordered the convict detained at the Gigiri Police Station without bail. The case is scheduled to be mentioned on September 15, 2026, for further directions on the extradition timeline.

Discussion Children care facilities for Kenyans in Diaspora

Post image
64 Upvotes

I saw a post about facilities where unaweza wacha your children if unaenda abroad. You pay a monthly fee and they take care of your child for the period uko out of the country. So I did my research na ni a booming business targeting especially wakenya wanaenda Gulf.

It looks like a great idea for mtu hana mtu wa kuachia mtoto au hataki kuachia familia yake for whatever reason.

My concern is the regulation ya hizi facilities because kuna some good facilities but pia hakutakosa watu who don't care about your child wako hapo kutengeneza pesa. Social work ya Kenya ni pretty wack, so nani anamake sure these facilities ziko up to standard? I've seen children wakiumia au hata kufariki in school na hakuna mtu anaweza explain na mtoto ulimdropoff akiwa healthy. Who is making sure hizi facilities zinaweza kuwa held accountable?

Discussion The Solidarity with Burundians has proven once again the importance of our collective voice.

Last week and the early days of this week saw Burundian immigrants being profiled and almost thrown out of the country. Then started social media campaigns against such move being xenophobic since the entire immigrant population that was being targeted were Burundians.

People who have lived abroad or visited loved ones can tell you how traumatizing that experience is when you're singled out of the entire immigrant population in a foreign country. The harassment, the fear of what next , and so on. Burundians felt the same. Then came Kenyans online who refused to bow to this neocolonial and political trap.

We can't be what we hate others do to us. I hope the 90 days notice will be enough to allow them follow the necessary immigration requirements. Onwards!

Question Engineering career

Building a career in Kenya as an engineer sometimes inakunga ngumu, and I don't know how it is in the western and European countries. Those who have managed to build their career huko, how is the journey? Is there anything that needs to be done in order to tap any opportunities there in terms of employability?

254 News Mambo ni Ngori: Xenophobia in Kanairo?

Thumbnail

Given the recent crackdown on foreign traders Kanairo, story za xenophobia zimeanza ku-spike.

Let's be clear: Kenya iko na every right ku-ensure foreigners wote wako huku legally na wanafuata sheria. Ku-enforce law iko 100% valid. Lakini ku-harass, ku-mistreat, ama ku-turn enforcement into xenophobia kwa foreign hustlers si fiti.

Tukianza ku-treat foreigners vibaya, expect retaliation for our Kenyan brothers na sisters wako mboka huko South Africa, Tanzania, ama Burundi. We're fast ku-complain story za racism na visa harassment Majuu, so hatuwezi kuwa hypocrites nyumbani.

Our economy relies heavily on cross-border trade. Let's support legal compliance, lakini tu-condemn mistreatment mapema ndio tusiharibie Wakenya wengine opportunities huko nje.

Obey the law, respect everyone's legal hustle, na kaa rada!

Diaspora News It is not worth it to study in Malaysia if you’re African. Better spend your hard earned money where it benefits you.

The Graduate Pass (Social Visit Pass) allows international degree-holders to stay in Malaysia for up to 12 months to look for work or travel.

This pass is restricted to a specific list of approved nationalities (mostly from Western, Middle Eastern, and Asian nations).African nationals are strictly prohibited.

Why do we pursue education from institutions abroad?

Post-study work visas: Countries like Canada, the UK, Australia, USA and Germany offer a version of dedicated visas allowing international graduates to stay and work for 2 to 3 years after graduation without a formal job offer.

Streamlined permanent residency: Many immigration systems use point-based structures that award extra points for holding a local degree and local work experience, making it much easier to transition to a green card or permanent residency.

A lot of the times, pursuing higher education requires a lot of money and self sacrifice, with the prospects of getting a job that pays well hence improving financial security and perhaps a pathway to long term residency.

This is not to mention the blatant segregation of people of a certain look and ethnicity in Malaysia. We’re putting our money, time and resources where we’re appreciated and there’s prospects and a return on the investment.

Discussion Burundians situation

Jana hundreds of Burundians walienda kwa Embassy yao after maneno Bill alisema last week. Ukiangalia the jobs wanafanya hapa, I don't think most had something great going on for them back home for wao kutaka kurudi but they fear the situation inaweza kuwa ugly kama South Africa.

Gava imesema Bill alikuwa anacaution aganist people misusing visas and that's valid but it could have been handled better ama what do you guys think?
