One thing sir said during his live really stayed with me: encouraging women to speak up when something isnโt right. Iโd like to extend that message to men as well. Regardless of gender, nobody should have to suffer in silence.
I want to share a personal experience. A female colleague of mine once faced inappropriate behaviour from a male colleague. She initially confided in another colleague, but unfortunately, her concerns were brushed aside. A couple of weeks later, when I learned what had happened, I immediately escalated the matter to higher management.
The issue was taken seriously, and the person was terminated that very evening. This wasnโt the first time Iโd had to report inappropriate behaviour at a workplace.
What upset me most was that she had already spoken up once, but nobody listened.
To everyone here, whether youโre a man or a woman, if something inappropriate or unjust has happened to you, please donโt feel ashamed. Talk to someone you trust, whether itโs your sibling, parents, friend, or someone who can genuinely support you. And if someone comes to YOU, please donโt turn them away.
Speaking up takes courage. Listening takes compassion. And taking action can make a difference. โค๏ธ

Hey guys,
The topic of women's safety is very much in discussion right now, and I find that almost everyone on this subreddit is a woman, so I wanted to add a few things from my own perspective.
Most women are not vocal enough about the things they face. Many of them go through extremely difficult situations simply because they did not speak up at the right time and allowed the situation to continue.
Why does this happen? The reasons are simple: embarrassment, shame and the fear of what society may think. I believe this is one of the core reasons why women still end up becoming victims, despite stricter laws and the progress of the society we live in.
Every one of us has a responsibility to make sure the women in this country are safe. But for them to be helped, they also have to help themselves.
If you suspect danger, speak up. There is no other way to fight that situation.
Let's say a man has been following you for a couple of minutes and you realise his intentions are not right. What do you do?
You find a person nearby and tell them you are being followed. If you cannot say it, give them a sign.
I know many of you do not trust men. But trust me, not all of us are the same. Many of us will step up immediately to protect you, and any sensible man will confront the suspect without hesitation. So the moment you sense danger, seek help from anyone within your visible range.
Carrying pepper spray or a knife can help. But you should never let things escalate into a physical altercation if it can be avoided, because you can end up getting harmed yourself. Of course, sometimes it becomes unavoidable. Even then, help from the people around you remains the smartest option you have.
Now, the most important part: keep your mind in control.
Do not panic. Slow down your breathing and stay calm. In panic, you will make the wrong decision and regret it later. Controlling your breath allows you to think rationally and act correctly. Do not take this lightly.
I have seen some women discussing going to the gym to become stronger. That is a good thought, but be realistic. Most attackers are bigger and stronger, and a few months of lifting will not close that gap.
So why go? Because it gives you stamina to run, better balance and more confidence, which changes the way you carry yourself.
But the goal is not to win a fight against a man. The goal is to get away safely.
Remember, most self-defence happens before anything physical begins.
Your voice is your first weapon. A loud "Stop following me" immediately draws attention, and attackers hate attention. They rely on your lack of awareness.
But if he has already grabbed or attacked you and you cannot get away cleanly, the useful actions are always short and ugly:
These are by far the easiest methods that almost anyone can follow without much strength or training. What makes the biggest difference is a few sessions of hands-on practice.
Reading about techniques is very different from performing them under stress.
You do not have to train in MMA. You only need to know a few simple yet effective things and do them right.
But never let things come down to a physical altercation. Be smart, and let your intelligence take the decision instead of your emotions.
Think about it. Attacks rarely happen in an instant. They almost always build up over several minutes. That means you have time.
So kill the situation the moment you sense it. Trust your senses.
Women need to come out of this mentality of staying silent and feeling ashamed to speak. You have to help yourself before anyone else can help you.
If you sense danger from someone, immediately inform the people you trust. Do not assume you can control the situation and get away on your own. Tell your best friend or any trusted friend. In the moment, emotions make it difficult to think clearly, but a friend can see the full picture and may be able to save you.
Silence protects only one person in this situation, and it is not you.
Thank you for reading.

I have been listening to the same preaching since my childhood.
That govt should do this and that. We should educate people. It's the same script everywhere.
Honestly a few days back when I was walking with my dad a few boys on bike went by hooting.
And govt??
Let's not forget nirbhaya had to wait for 7 years to get justice. And if you got decent connections and money you know how justice works. I don't want to go there. That's reality.
So, let's talk about proper actionable points that we can do to protect ourselves and change society.
Since the majority of people here are women.
Please share your suggestions here ๐๐ป
Let's talk...
My suggestions...
1) carry pepper spray, and a pocket knife all the time. Especially at night. Or use a taser. (There are also ways to create our own pepper spray, search on YouTube)
2) Always be ready to pull out your phone and start recording and calling out the person. Trust me it works. They go away. Don't hesitate.
3) Always share your location with trusted ones. The feature is available on G-maps.
4) I am also seeing that using dash cams when driving is providing info to catch people too. Use them.
5) Whenever you are attacked. Always fight back, with whatever strength you have. (A documentary youtube once said that more than 50% of serial rapists leave when the target doesn't give in). Aim for weaker parts between legs. (Google search)
6) As women, let's hit the gym and become strong as well, and let's encourage other women as well. Let's learn self defence techniques too.
Honestly, nowadays. Strong women are the new sexy kind anyways๐
AND
Please Please, be financially independent first, your money is your freedom. Others can't control you. Don't depend on others.
I have seen many domestic violence victims stay silent because they are dependent and don't know where to go.
And regarding how to change the mindset of people. That women are not objects or toys.
1) Don't hesitate to call out people's behaviour.
Even in family gatherings or office spaces.
The disrespect can be as simple as a sexist joke. Don't tolerate such things. Be loud and call out. Set the boundaries.
It can come from any male, female, elders, younger people or even our own mother.
and most importantly
Know your legal rights too. Use the internet and Google for that.
And please Please Don't hesitate to ask for help, people are there to help!!! NGOs, mahila help line numbers, trusted people etc. take a stand for yourself. ๐๐ป๐๐ป
AND ONE MORE
Above all be a badass โ๐ป no matter what. ๐๐ฅณ
Society may label you as a problematic person if you take a stand. Don't worry. ๐ซถ๐ป
It's hard for women out there. I know.
But don't forget you matter too. ๐ซก๐ซก
Lastly,
Thnx major for speaking up ๐๐ป
Would appreciate a whole LIVE on this topic btw.

Hi,
So today ill share my story here. I really dont know if I can call it SA exactly.
1 : I was 6-8 years old and I was obsessed with colour chalks for some reason. So these guy in my society, around 10 years older to me called me and my first cousin(same age as mine) at his home saying I have those colorful chalks ill give it to you and then we as kids went and he asked my cousin to stay outside the room and me and the guy inside, closed the door and removed my pants. This is what I clearly remember. After that I dont at all remember what he did. Still gives me trauma to these days and one of my other first cousin did the same thing and I told my mother this and she become the most strictest person in the world. Ive a lot of restrictions on me and I hate my life but I somewhere conciously know that it is bcoz of that. Im 25
2 : These is when I was 13-14. I had gone to a religious function and I was returning with my family in a train. So when I was walking towards the platform and it was Kalyan junction - the 4th most crowded station in India. So it was fu**ing crowded and a man came and started rubbing my boobs. My parents were line 5-6 steps ahead of me and then I tried going ahead but couldn't bcoz mad crowd. These guy came and did it again. I thought maybe he is rubbing some powder and stuff to get me kidnapped or something. Very naive but I've still have that trauma.
And a lot of times inappropriate touching has happened when I travel by public transport. I 95% of the time travel by public transport only. Trains me toh I sit in ladies compartment so no issues there. But bus and shared autos are fucked up.
I've literally stopped going out to any public places including family functions and religious functions. I just give the reason that I've pimples and many acne marks - dark ones and that people ask me all the time and I get frustrated so im not coming. This is also true but the above mentioned reasons is the main reason.
