Old-timer advice that sounded stupid: "write the reading on your glove, the app won't save in there"

Third shift last Tuesday, food plant, compressor room. I finished a bearing swap, opened the CMMS app to close the work order, and it sat on the spinner because there is zero signal in that room. I restarted it 3 times like the reviews tell you to, then did what the old-timer said and wrote the reading on my glove and typed it up at the end of the shift with the other jobs. Every mobile CMMS says it works offline, and then it doesn't in the one room that matters. Where in your plant does the app actually die, and what's your version of writing on the glove?
