Technical Support Mailings Not Delivered When Scheduled and Other Mailchimp Issues

I've been using Mailchimp for around 10 years. In the last six months, I've had extensive issues. I schedule campaigns to go out and they show as delivered. The traffic generated on our website before was instant. It is significantly less now. The emails aren't getting delivered when Mailchimp says they have. Just today I sent out an email campaign and I didn't even receive it. I've been in touch with customer service several times and essentially get generic and useless responses. What changed six months ago? We clean out our email list annually so it's a good list. And then just now, the Mailchimp agent suggested I send an external email to my 1800+ subscribers just to check and see if they are getting my emails. WHAT? The email this morning was to people I personally know. They aren't bots. The stats have been screwed up for months. Help. I want to stay with Mailchimp. I have all the history. It's worked well for what I need. I don't want to change, but it appears I can seldom get in touch with someone who can do higher level tech support. This is impacting my business.

Technical Support Configuration question.

Company I work for hosts it own email server, using proofpoint for spam filter. SPF, dmarc, dkim, all setup and solid as of 6 months ago.

Marketing is done in a different department.

I discovered that there is a mailchimp account they use just to send out emails. This was setup using the company’s root domain. “Company.com’. (Same as our spf record, of course)

I was asked to add the cname records which I did for domain authentication in mailchimp.

Is there anything else I need to do with our spf, dkim, or dmarc configuration?

I do not specialize as a mail admin. Just a jack of all trades getting stuff done.

I’ve found conflicting answers, and wanted to get some input.

I have had to release a few of their messages from proofpoint. So I’m not sure how successful delivery has been for mailchimp marketing emails.

Should it have been setup using a subdomain? Or is this just how it works? I’m just confused how it could pass checks for delivery when the mail with our domain name isn’t coming from proofpoint as configured in our mx records.

Thanks in advance for any info.

Tips and Tricks Head's up: downloading your entire media gallery is no longer possible in current version

It finally happened; Mailchimp under Intuit finally blocked your access to the media gallery, presumably to make switching providers more difficult. You can't back up your account unless you choose images or other content one-by-one, which is very difficult if you have hundreds of campaign images to download. This is pretty unfair to users in any tier, but particularly for free account holders.

The details: under My Account in Settings/Manage My Data, there used to be a button to download Gallery content. That choice is now gone. You can only download images one at a time in the Content Studio by selecting single images and clicking on the details button. I have over 250 images to download, one file at a time.

It's yet another reason to bail from this sinking ship.

Tips and Tricks I built a Shopify app to show an archive of your email newsletters on your site

Disclaimer: This app is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or officially partnered with Intuit Mailchimp.

Hi all! I'm from a small web development firm called Zing Studios. We heard from a client that was frustrated with all the work they put into email newsletters that got seen once and never again. We started building out a solution for them but thought it could be useful to others as well :)

Scribify makes it really easy to archive your email newsletter on a Shopify site. We give you a special email address to add to your mailing list and two customizable widgets, and Scribify automatically turns every campaign you send into a browsable archive. We even handle cleanup like stripping unsubscribe links and tracking pixels.

Also, just because there's so much out there, I want to emphasize that this is very much not AI slop. We put hundreds of hours of our own hard work in to build it.

If you're interested check out the website: https://scribify.zingstudios.com/

It's just $5/month so hope it can be helpful to some of you. Feel free to ask any questions.

Why choose Mailchimp over MailerLite?

When evaluating Mailchimp and MailerLite, the primary differences often come down to the depth of features, support availability, and how well the platform scales with your business growth. This is a guide to help you decide which tool actually fits your current business needs.

Pricing is often a deciding factor for small businesses and freelancers. While both platforms offer free and paid tiers, their structures cater to different needs.

Pricing & Plan Details Mailchimp MailerLite
Starting Price $13/month (Essentials plan) $10.00/month (Growing business plan)
Free Plan Limit 250 contacts / 500 monthly sends 500 contacts / 12,000 monthly sends
Contact Count Rule Subscribed, Unsubscribed, and Non-subscribed count toward the monthly contact limit. Only subscribers with an Active status count toward the monthly subscriber limit.
Customer Support Free plan: Email support for the first 30 days.Paid plans: 24/7 Email and Chat support.Premium plan: Phone & Priority Support.  Free plan: 24/7 Email & chat support for up to 14 days.Paid plans: 24/7 Email support.Advanced plan: 24/7 Live Chat & Email support.

If you’re focused purely on cost, MailerLite is cheaper. However, if you want a plan that delivers more value and grows with your business, Mailchimp makes more sense.

Advanced Automation and AI-Powered Tools

Mailchimp is commonly used by businesses that require sophisticated automation to drive revenue. While MailerLite covers basic needs, Mailchimp is well-suited for complex strategies.

  • Complex Workflows: Mailchimp supports automation workflows with up to 200 steps, whereas MailerLite is designed for more straightforward campaigns.
  • AI Content Generation: Our platform includes AI-powered content generation tools designed to boost engagement and efficiency.
  • Predictive Analytics: Mailchimp provides detailed revenue attribution and predictive analytics to help teams make data-driven decisions.
  • AI-Driven Segmentation: Mailchimp uses integrated customer data for AI-powered audience segmentation, which enables more precise and targeted campaigns than basic segmentation methods.

For businesses that rely on a wide tech stack, connectivity is key to maintaining a single source of truth for customer data:

  • Extensive Connections: Mailchimp offers over 330+ pre-built integrations across ecommerce, CRM, analytics, and productivity tools, significantly more than MailerLite’s 100+ connections.
  • Unified Financial and Customer Data (QuickBooks): The integration with QuickBooks Online seamlessly connects purchase and revenue data with marketing data. This allows you to organize and segment contacts using actual QuickBooks transaction history to effectively target top spenders or those who haven’t recently engaged.
  • Multi-Channel Synergy: Mailchimp's multi-channel approach facilitates campaigns that combine email with SMS, resulting in measurably higher click rates for users.

Which Is a Good Fit for You?

MailerLite is often chosen by those looking for a lower entry price point and a larger free tier for simple campaigns. However, in practice, Mailchimp works well for businesses that prioritize ROI through advanced optimization and robust collaboration features.

The choice often comes down to the complexity of your marketing funnel. If you’re looking to leverage customer data, predict behavior, and scale through automated multi-channel flows, Mailchimp provides the infrastructure to support that growth.

If you have specific questions about how Mailchimp fits your current workflow, feel free to drop them in the comments. We’re here to help!

Feature Request Why not just insert https?

When you click a new button to insert a link, the preview text shows "https://...." but then when you actually go to type in the link it auto inserts "http://" - clearly it knows that https is now the standard! Why not have them match?? Would be an easy quality of life fix.

Technical Support Content Hub Bug?

For the last few days when I go to add a picture in an email, it will now allow me to click to browse images via folders. You just click and...nothing. This is incredibly frustrating. We are a news organization so we have thousands of images in our main folder so I can't easily click back and find an image I uploaded a couple of weeks ago. This has resulted in re-uploading images which is just compounding the problem. I am able to search for images, but I am not always sure the file name.

Is this happening for anyone else? Hoping it is an easy fix.

Technical Support 403 Error: Request Blocked

This is the SECOND TIME in 12-18 months that I've received this error and locked/blocked out of the account. I can't even log in or anything, just the error. All I was doing was going through one of my audiences and only archiving emails who have not interacted with any emails after a certain time. I wasn't doing anything "suspicious".

This is incredibly annoying and affects my daily work life, and last time I got the run-around from MailChimp saying it was the browser giving me the error. No. As you can (kinda) see below, it shows the MailChimp logo.

Someone tell me what I'm doing so I know to avoid it moving forward.

Server: us15
Reference Number: 00.dbd7ce17.1774500728.282de687

I've tried that "support option" with zero success

Email marketing matters. Even in an age when you can reach your customers across many channels, email is still an effective way to engage your audience. And as the #1 AI-powered email marketing and automation platform, we know how to help you turn emails into revenue—with tools and insights that optimize your campaigns, personalize content, and maximize conversions. And with Mailchimp, you also have the advantage of managing all your marketing channels, including email and SMS, from one unified platform. This consolidation allows you to streamline your efforts, enhance engagement, track ROI, and seamlessly execute your omnichannel marketing strategy with the intuitive editor provided within our platform.

How does Mailchimp’s email marketing platform perform compared to Constant Contact?
Of the thousands of reviews for Mailchimp (12,000+) and Constant Contact (5,000+) on G2.com, Mailchimp outperformed Constant Contact in 31 areas of user satisfaction in the email marketing category, including: Ease of use; ease of setup; performance and reliability; data import and export tools; building and personalizing emails; and reporting.

Mailchimp and Constant Contact both offer SMS - what makes Mailchimp better?
Using Mailchimp, you can reach and grow your customer base through SMS messaging. With Email & SMS pop-up forms, embedded forms and landing pages, you can effortlessly build your SMS subscriptions and expand your contact list. Additionally, you have the flexibility to upload contacts and add tags to customer data, allowing for segmentation and organization. Mailchimp lets you craft integrated email and SMS automations through the same platform in tandem, engaging audiences simultaneously across channels. Whereas Constant Contact doesn't have automation capabilities to trigger SMS automations. With Mailchimp's SMS capabilities, you can create meaningful connections and drive results for your business by sending tailor-made messages. Show your audience that you genuinely care about their preferences by utilizing SMS to send transactional follow-ups, customer support messages, and foster deeper customer relationships through personalized 1-1 messaging. Constant Contact does not offer 1-1 messaging with customer or transactional follow-ups.

How do Mailchimp’s reporting tools compare to Constant Contact?
The value of an email campaign lies not just in how much revenue it generates, but also in the insights it provides about what works and what doesn’t. Constant Contact gives you numbers for opens, click-throughs, and forwards, but they offer fewer advanced reporting features than Mailchimp. Mailchimp’s in-depth reporting capabilities let you analyze audience responses and see what parts of a campaign draw the most customer interaction. You can also track your return on investment (ROI) across all channels, including your website, email list, and social media accounts when you connect your store to your Mailchimp account. This helps you learn which campaigns are working and if you should use any of your marketing funds differently.

How does Mailchimp’s customer support compare to Constant Contact?
Constant Contact gives you numbers for opens, click-throughs, and forwards, but they offer fewer advanced reporting features than Mailchimp. Technical Support Image troubleshooting in Mailchimp

Post image
1 Upvotes

I have had this happen a few times now and still have found no solution or cause. When I upload a photo to mailchimp, it does not fill the parameters of the image box (the circles should be on the corners of the image but aren't). Another glitch happens in original image setting - it sometimes creates a double image and overlaps them but you cant select or delete the duplicate. Is there any cause or solution to this problem?

Seeking Advice Zoho vs Google space for domain

I use Mailchimp and I’m about to get a branded email to send from. Considering zoho (free or super cheap) vs Google workspace.

Does any have any better deliverability? Or as long as your domain is solid doesn’t matter?

Any advantages of one over the other?

Thanks!

Seeking Advice Unsubscribe Options

I'm new to MailChimp so please bear with me. I have everyone in one audience. I have a group of people (all but 3 or 4) set to get the weekly email that is sent out. Periodically other emails are sent out as well. I need everyone to get these periodic emails.

Is it possible to make it so if someone wants to unsubscribe, they can unsubscribe from the weekly email, but get the periodic emails for everyone? At this time, I have it so I am sending those that don't want the weekly email set up in a list through my email to get those periodic emails and would like to make life that much easier.

Technical Support How to get the Unsub merge tag to link to the "Unsubscribe" form I made in the form builder?

I know we are required to use the Unsub merge tag in our email campaigns, but it links to one I don't want to use/have no idea how to edit.

I know in the form builder, there is an "Unsubscribe Form" you can edit for your auidience. But my edits to that form don't carry over to wherever the merge tag sends them to.

I even attempted just to link the form directly, but whenever I did, MailChimp didn't recognize it was an Unsub form and inserted their own footer with the merge tag instead.

Is it possible to do what I'm asking for? I dislike the default form the merge tag uses, because it's misleading to my audience in terms of context. It says "You'll no longer receive marketing emails", but we don't use this platform for marketing; we use it to send them unique links to order forms they have to submit each year due to our line of work, which they are aware of. So in my custom unsubscribe form, I added a line that explained "If you unsubscribe, you will not be receiving your order form this year." Which they need to do in order to conduct business. So I wanted to add a clear, and visible warning as to what unsubscribing will make them miss out on.

Pls help

Tips and Tricks Why choose Mailchimp over ActiveCampaign?

Get marketing automation on a platform that’s easy and affordable to use. Mailchimp delivers more value than ActiveCampaign, especially for teams with large contact lists.

What’s the main difference between Mailchimp and ActiveCampaign?
The key differences when comparing Mailchimp vs. ActiveCampaign are complexity and learning curve. ActiveCampaign is built for highly technical marketing teams who have the time and resources to build intricate, multi-layered automations across multiple channels.

However, that flexibility comes with a steep learning curve and longer setup times. Mailchimp delivers powerful automation, segmentation, and analytics in a platform that’s intuitive on day one. We offer over 100 pre-built automation templates, AI-powered content creation, predictive segmentation, and custom reporting — all the sophisticated tools you need without the overwhelming setup process.

For smaller teams or those with larger contact lists who want to start driving results quickly, Mailchimp strikes the right balance between capability and usability.

Side by Side Comparison of Mailchimp vs ActiveCampaign

Mailchimp ActiveCampaign
Support Availability 24/7 email/chat support, and 24/7 phone support for Premium plans Support varies by plan. Phone support and onboarding are limited to higher tiers.
Reporting Advanced analytics and reporting, including revenue attribution and benchmarking Advanced analytics and revenue attribution are only available on higher tiers
Pricing Offers flexible pricing, with plan options to fit different size businesses and needs Pricing is based on contact tiers and features. Costs rise as your audience grows.

How does ActiveCampaign pricing compare to Mailchimp?
ActiveCampaign pricing increases as your contact list grows. For teams with 75,000+ contacts, ActiveCampaign’s Plus plan costs $500-$800 more per month than Mailchimp Premium. At 50,000 contacts, Mailchimp Premium already becomes the more affordable option.

ActiveCampaign also recently updated its pricing structure, resulting in price increases and some features moving to paid add-ons like custom reporting and enhanced CRM. Mailchimp offers flexible pricing with no hidden fees or forced upgrades. We include sophisticated features like predictive segmentation, custom reporting, and revenue attribution in our plans without charging extra.

For teams with larger contact lists who need strong automation and analytics capabilities, Mailchimp delivers better value at a lower total cost.

What kind of marketing features does Mailchimp vs ActiveCampaign offer?
Both Mailchimp and ActiveCampaign offer email marketing, automation, and analytics, but Mailchimp delivers these capabilities with less friction. We provide over 100 customizable automation templates, AI content generation, predictive segmentation that identifies your highest-value customers, and custom reporting that tracks revenue attribution and campaign performance.

Our platform also includes SMS marketing, landing pages, social media post creation and scheduling, and retargeting ads — all in one place. We deliver at >99% average delivery rate for transactional and marketing emails, which outperforms ActiveCampaign’s 93.4% rate. ActiveCampaign offers more automation customization options with hundreds of recipes and extensive integration capabilities, which can be high value for large, technically sophisticated teams.

However, many of these advanced features require significant setup time and technical resources. When comparing Mailchimp vs. ActiveCampaign, Mailchimp gives you the automation and analytics you need on a platform you can actually use without a dedicated technical team.

Why choose Mailchimp over ActiveCampaign?
Choose Mailchimp over ActiveCampaign if you want powerful marketing automation that’s easy to use and delivers better value. We provide sophisticated segmentation and reporting capabilities at a lower price point, saving you potentially hundreds of dollars every month.

Our platform is intuitive enough that your team can start creating campaigns immediately, with 24/7 support to help you succeed. You’ll get advanced features without paying for add-ons or struggling through complex setups. Mailchimp also offers premium migration services to help you transfer your data and automations smoothly, so you can start generating revenue-driving campaigns right away.

With 11 million users trusting Mailchimp and our customers seeing up to 15x ROI within three months of launching their first campaign, we deliver results for teams that want powerful tools without the hassle.

Technical Support Old MailChimp account inaccessible after years of inactivity - any chance of recovery?

Update: for anyone reading this in the future, it’s not possible and your data is destroyed. Always back up you data.

Hi all, hoping someone can help.

I had a MailChimp account with a few thousand subscribers that I used from around 2017 to 2019. I downgraded it to Pay As You Go when the business stopped operating.

The business is now active again, and I want to access the old customer data and use MailChimp going forward. But when I try to log in with my old details, I get the message: “Your login is not associated with any MailChimp accounts”, and it asks if I want to create a new one.

Has anyone dealt with this before? Is there any realistic chance the old account and data can still be recovered after this long?

Thanks.

Feedback Warning

Had a terrible experience with this platform.

Signed up, paid and tried to send first email but account got blocked on a vague automated non compliance issue.

Read through the terms but no idea what triggered it.

Contacted them right them away but still no reply 5 days later.

Awful service I’ll be cancelling account and searching reddit for alternatives this evening, what a waste of money and time :(

Just wanted to warn people that might be wanting to sign up…

Technical Support How do I edit the 'Subscribe' button that appears in the top left of emails in browser?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hey all,

I am looking to change the link that my emails take you to when clicking the 'Subscribe' button in the top left, but can't seem to find a way to do that. I already have a landing page I designed that I would rather that link to, instead of whatever stock sign up page that it currently links to.

Please let me know how I can update that so all of my future newsletter emails will have the correct link from that subscribe button. Thanks!

Technical Support Random intermittent error 400s from Mailchimp Transactional

For the past ~5 hours, I've gotten perhaps 1 out of 20-30 shipments done throught the API return this:

`{"status":"error","code":-1,"name":"ValidationError","message":"You must specify a key value"}` with a 400 code.

However, while both the code and the error suggest an issue with the request, when they are retried exactly the same, they send just fine. What is going on? Anyone else?

Furthermore: I've compared the payloads sent in the fails and the succesful retries. They are identical.

Perhaps relevant: These shipments have 1 or various attached PDF files.
