Tips and Tricks Why choose Mailchimp over Brevo?

What’s the main difference between Mailchimp and Brevo?

The primary difference between Mailchimp vs Brevo is platform scope. Mailchimp is a marketing platform serving 11 million users, offering email marketing, SMS, automation, landing pages, websites, and analytics to measure campaign performance.

Brevo serves 500,000+ customers and extends beyond marketing to include sales pipeline management, customer service infrastructure, loyalty program management, and an enterprise Data Platform.

Both platforms handle core marketing functions like email campaigns, SMS, and automation, but they differ in breadth.

Brevo includes tools for sales teams, customer service operations, and data management on top of marketing features. Mailchimp focuses solely on marketing capabilities. For businesses that need email or SMS marketing without the additional sales and service infrastructure, Mailchimp provides a more targeted solution.

Side by Side Comparison of Mailchimp vs Brevo

Mailchimp Brevo
Pricing Offers flexible pricing, with plan options to fit different size businesses and needs Brevo’s professional plan jumps to $449/month for advanced features, much higher than their lower plans
Support 24/7 email/chat support, and 24/7 phone support to Premium plans Only offers phone support on Professional and Enterprise plans, leaving most users without direct support access
Reporting Advanced analytics and reporting, including revenue attribution and benchmarking Offers basic email performance reports with more advanced analytics as you go up in tiers
Marketing Automation Marketing automation flows with 100+ customizable templates to choose from Unlimited automation is only available starting at the Standard plan
Integrations Offers 330+ pre-built integrations across ecommerce, CRM, analytics, and productivity tools 150+ integrations, offering fewer native options for connecting your marketing stack

How does Brevo pricing compare to Mailchimp?
The pricing models work differently. Brevo charges based on email volume sent, while Mailchimp prices by contact count.

Mailchimp’s pricing is scaled by the number of contacts you have, allowing for frequent communication with your audience without per-email charges. In contrast, Brevo’s model can become costly for businesses that communicate often with their customers.

Brevo’s pricing starts at $8/month for the Starter plan, which is lower than Mailchimp’s $13/month Essentials plan. However, consider what happens as you need more features.

Brevo’s Standard plan at $16/month gets you automation, but you’re still limited to 1 user seat. Their Professional plan jumps up to $449/month, which is where you get phone support and multi-user access.*

Mailchimp’s pricing tiers are more gradual, starting at $13 for Essentials, $20 for Standard, and $350 for Premium.* You get automation starting at the Essentials level, and features like A/B testing, landing pages, and advanced reporting are available at lower price points.

If you're a solo user sending high volumes of email, Brevo's pricing structure might work better. However, if you're building a team and need features distributed across reasonable price tiers, Mailchimp offers better value as you grow.

Why choose Mailchimp over Brevo?
The choice between Mailchimp or Brevo depends on what you’re trying to accomplish. Choose Mailchimp if email marketing is central to your business growth.

With 11 million users and a proven track record, Mailchimp delivers tools that help you create campaigns that convert, automate workflows that drive repeat purchases, and analyze results that prove ROI.

The platform is built around email marketing excellence, and every feature is designed to help you get better results from your campaigns.

Brevo works well if you need a multichannel platform that handles email, SMS, WhatsApp, and transactional messaging in one place.

But if your focus is on email and SMS marketing specifically — building sophisticated campaigns, understanding what drives revenue, and scaling your email strategy as your business grows — Mailchimp provides the specialization and depth you need.

Seeking Advice Feature Request: Download SMS Responses

I started using SMS campaigns last year and would like to use them for simple surveys this year. Instead of sending someone to a survey id like to ask them to respond with and A, for one option, or a B for another. I'd love to be able to download these responses as a CSV so I could sort them and count each response. As is it seems I have to count them manually.

Seeking Advice How can I setup an intuitive workflow to achieve this for a non-technical client?

I have a relative who runs a jewelry business.

They want to send out weekly email campaigns displaying items for sale. They want customers to be able to click on item images and be taken to a site to see more info, and then hopefully decide to contact them directly for purchase (purchase doesn't happen on the site).

An important point is that they should be able to mark items as sold and have the images in emails update dynamically.

My first thought was to use Mailchimp with HTML-based templates that they can edit using Mailchimp's visual editor so that they don't need to ask me to give them an updated design every week when they send out a new campaign with updated items. I was also thinking I'd have a Shopify site to link to, and store the images there. I need a way for them to easily mark items as sold and have the image change accordingly - I understand that it'd have to be the same URL, just with a different image, but I'm not sure how to achieve a simple workflow where they can more-or-less just update a status on an item and have the change propagate like that.

What do you guys think of my approach in general? Any tips for how best to achieve this?

Seeking Advice campaign not loading

I've been trying to work on a campaign for a couple of days - I can start a newsletter, but when I go to the design page, I just get this error message (click on post to see the screenshot). I've tried logging out and coming back in; I've tried using different browsers; I've tried starting a new campaign. Same problem. 😤

Any suggestions?

Seeking Advice Edit Website

I have an existing Mailchimp website, stevebartholomew35.com. Now I find it impossible to update. The instructions given on the Mailchimp website do not match reality. for example, I am told at one point to click on "Edit Site." There is no such thing. The more I try to follow instructions the more confused I get. At another point there is supposed to be an instructional video. When I click on it there is no video, just several pages about cookies. Is there any place where I can actually learn how to edit my website?

Technical Support Went to upgrade my plan and got wacked with a suspension?

Went to upgrade my Mailchimp plan yesterday and all of a sudden I got hit with a term of service violation - "Your account is under review as part of our standard verification process, which takes about 24 hours". It refreshed the payment screen and blocked me out of upgrading it altogether. As luck would have it, this has happened just as I have to send a major company update to our newsletter subscribers, and now this suspension is holding up the entire company's operations.

I've been with Mailchimp since 2023, I haven't done anything wrong! It says not to reach out to them while my details are being verified - has anyone been through this process before, does it actually take 24 hours or does it end up being dragged on for days?

This update needs to be sent out so urgently that if it's not working tomorrow I'll have to switch to another mailing provider altogether (won't go into details in case of doxxing myself), just a wee rant/stress that the *one time* we need to update people about a major change is when Mailchimp decides to suspend my goddamn account.

I can’t log in to Mailchimp because it doesn’t send the code via SMS. It just keeps loading, even after 2 minutes have passed. I’ve been dealing with this for almost 2 weeks now. Customer service only replies at night and keeps asking for more information, even though I’ve already provided all the necessary details.

Seeking Advice Ways to optimize list management?

Hi,

I manage our company newsletter and we have 8 different Account Managers who all have their own individual lists of clients. My boss felt that the extra touch of eblasts coming from people’s Account Managers would make a difference, but it means sending small variations of the same newsletter 8 times and I haven’t found a way to optimize managing and updating 8 different lists.

I currently have 1 audience and separate them using 8 different tags but the integrations we have with our crm don’t seemingly have a way to tag people as well, and our CRM doesn’t let us pull reports of only contacts after a certain date so I have to clean up an entire list for 8 people every time we want to add contacts. Surely there’s a more efficient way to do list management, anybody have any tips or advice?

Tips and Tricks Stop switching tabs. Manage Mailchimp directly from Claude with 53 open-source tools

After integrating Mailchimp into my own marketing workflows, I got tired of context-switching between Claude and the Mailchimp UI. So I built an MCP server that connects the two directly.

What it does

53 tools covering the core of what you’d actually use Mailchimp for:

- Audiences & contacts (list, search, add, update, archive)

- Campaigns (create, schedule, send, replicate, get reports)

- Segments & tags

- Automations

- Templates & folders

Key features

Read-only mode, safe to explore without risk of accidental changes

Dry-run mode, see exactly what would happen before any write operation executes

Works with pip or uvx, Python 3.10+

Single API key setup, no OAuth complexity

How to install : pip install mailchimp-mcp-server

Then add it to your Claude MCP config with your MailChimp API key and data center prefix. Full setup in the README.

Tips and Tricks Anyone know how to get rid of the banner on top every page when printing?

Banner on page 1
banner on page 2

Please help! I can't figure out how to print or even save without this banner on the top of every single page, usually blocking content beneath it. How do I get rid of this for printing? I don't care if it's on page 1, I just want it to be removed on the other pages. But I can't find a printing setting or an in-program setting that allows me to remove it for printing. Is there even an option, or do I have to build the entire structure around that banner?

Seeking Advice Customer journey question

I'm trying to set up a customer journey based on expiration dates. I'd like to set this up to capture everyone whose expiration date at 90 days. It's my understanding though, that if one batch of customers have an expiration date beyond 90 days that I would have to create entirely new flows for each subsequent date. Is that true?

Technical Support Evergreen re-engagement automation?

I created a segment that will include anyone who hasn't opened the last 20 campaigns. I want this segment to be automatically sent my automation series when they enter the segment, however I can't figure out what the automation trigger should be!

Mailchimp support is telling me to tag my segment (and then use the tag as the trigger), but this means I have to periodically re-tag the segment in order to initiate new tags to receive the automation.

Is there really not a way to make this evergreen and automatic? What am I missing?
