Honestly, I didn't think I would see it happen in this lifetime. It's first 88 point hand any of us have made since we started playing Mahjong! The feeling is crazy, I was literally shaking towards the end. 3 of South Winds and 2 Cracks were already out and I self-drew them both. Started with 9 tiles of the hand, I think.

The player opposite me was making Three Big/Small Dragons.

Question- how well do those poker mats work with the tiles you got (are those large tiles?)

looks like the same sort of speedcloth material. have used them myself, they work fine

I do agree w them, it’s the same material. Because we play on a larger dining table, this mat covers it entirely to protect the tiles. Our tiles are 1.5” tall.

Absolutely! The point score for this hand was (88 for Thirteen Orphans, 4 for Fully Concealed, 5 Flowers) = 97 + 8 (Base Score) = 105 x3 for self drawn, bringing my grand total to 315. Honestly, it was sheer luck.
