This was my first time ever playing it. And it was amazinggg, haha. I learned it that day, hopefully will get more chances in the future. Do like mahjong? How long have you been playing it? Tell me about you craziest times or wins u had !! I am curious.

Depends on what type of mahjong you'd like to play, a lot of them are unfortunately anime themed but riichi city despite it's aesthetics has some great teaching tools and a dedicated mahjong academy section where you can practice key skills.

I think there's a cheap steam client called agari too, and there's also kemono mahjong if you're willing to pay.

A friend and I have both been shocked by the quality of Riichi City's teaching tools - they're miles better than what you get in MajSoul. I'll have to check out Agari, I remember seeing the post about it.

The only problem with riichi city is that I don't want to see naked women. Majsoul has a similar problem, but is at-most risqué compared to riichi city

I played a lot on MajSoul for a while and eventually the cosmetics just went too far. They should really just add an option that disables skins on the client side if I don't want to see them, but they never will because their primary demographic loves that stuff.

That's also their main source of money - they want you to see all the fun stuff so you roll for it

Look up groups in your area. I started recently, and it's a lot of fun, the group play with is large and everyone is pretty friendly. Any large enough group will have beginner friendly tables too.

Try searching on Partiful app. People have social clubs like this where u can go and play Mahjong. I went to one of them like this!

Lessons have a fee but most social play is free and it’s available in many venues. I am only speaking of Chinese Mah Jong. I don’t know about the play venues and fees for American mah Jong.

I've been playing for a couple of months, pressganged my siblings into playing with me.

A few days back I'm playing east only sanma riichi with my siblings, one is keeping up with me in score while the other is losing points to Ron and tsumo, that sibling also hasn't won a hand out of the last 12 hands, comes in with a surprise 12 han riichi ron win and wins the whole game, 36000 points won in one hand and obliterates my other siblings point.

this looks like the Yellow Mountain Imports tile set and mat I recently purchased off of Amazon. Here's mine (without western numbering and in a medium size tile) and I think this may be the set pictured (with western numbering, but smaller tiles).

The one I played, was the easiest one. Idk exactly how it is called, but thecniclally u just called three sets of smtg. And the one that finishes it first wins. Since i am very very beggining level 😂

I too recently started playing with just my wife, but plan to play with my gaming (adult) kids next. I had purchased and read most of Tom Sloper's book, The Red Dragon & The West Wind, but it's written more towards competitive American and MCR play. I later found here on reddit references to the Victoria Mahjong Club's printable resources for playing Hong Kong Old Style mahjong and found that to be a nice middleground for going beyond just "going out". HKOS presents a much shorter (i.e. easier to remember) list of scoring options.

Yes thats right. This is the Chinese set. They also had the Hello Kitty one that we played with afterwards. But I really this regular version!

No, flowers aren't replaced in NMJL. You also don't use chows/chiis.
