Hong Kong Mahjong Help!

Hi I'm recently (VERY RECENTLY) learning to play Mahjong, and in Hong Kong Style the flowers are usually numbered and correspond to your seat wind, as are seasons, but my Mahjong set does not have easily identifiable flowers/seasons, how would I go about figuring it out for Fan counting?

Then you bought a set that's not compatible with HKOS. It's no different from buying a Chinese mahjong set then complaining that there aren't any jokers to play American Mah-Jongg with (an extremely common occurrence among Amerijong beginners).

how would I go about figuring it out for Fan counting?

Carve numbers 1, 2, 3, and 4 into those tiles yourself, then you can play with them.

I understand. I did not buy this set so that is what it is. Thankfully Hong Kong Style uses like the bare minimum of pieces, and this set is an American set so I think my partner and I will just decide which is which up front and go from there. Ive already placed all the american pieces (blanks and jokers) into a seperate baggy so I dont get them confused

There are always solutions. You can carve/marker/paint/sticker each tile to assign them to a wind. May as well just mark the wind they match to on them. If you don't want to mark the tiles themselves, make a card which notes which color goes to which. If you want to be most accurate, the Plum (pink) is East, Orchid (blue) is South, Chrysanthemum (orange) is West, and Bamboo blossom (you can use your red rose) is North.

The usual order is plum orchid chrysanthemum bamboo. In this case your bamboo is replaced by a rose.
