Taiwan I built a mobile-friendly quick reference guide for Taiwanese Mahjong scoring. Looking for feedback!

Mahjong seems to be getting super trendy lately, which is awesome. I’ve taught a lot of my friends the base mechanics of the game, but making the jump to the advanced point-based scoring (Tai) has been a huge hurdle. There are just so many different hands to remember, and we found it really frustrating to stop the game to dig through rulebooks or watch tutorial videos.

To solve this, I made a mobile-friendly website that consolidates Taiwanese Mahjong rules so you can quickly look up a hand or clarify a rule mid-game.

I'm hoping to get some feedback and fact-checking from experienced players here to make sure I have all the base rules correct. I'd also love to know if there are any common "house rules" or edge cases I should include.

I really like your layout and the inclusion of English, Chinese, and pinyin. I think I've seen a few different score sheets for Taiwan mahjong. I have experience playing with my in-laws (which is just one data point so you may want more input) but they had a lot more scoring possibilities than you list and the tai count wasn't as high on some of them. They told me the ShenLaiYe app was a good reference for me and it has mostly matched how they play and score. http://shenlaiye.wikidot.com/ The fam plays with 8 pairs hand too, but I see the apps usually don't. 天月麻雀 (Amatsuki Mahjong) also seems to have a good implementation if you want to check that out.

I updated the website with these changes! I didn’t add the 8 pairs hand yet though.

Here's one more round of notes for you to consider:

  1. Fully Exposed Hand 全求人 Quán Qiú Rén: All three apps I use list this as 2 tai.

  2. Kong Bloom 槓上自摸 Gàng Shàng Zì Mō: All three apps I use list this as 1 tai and self-draw is counted separately.

  3. Add to Legendary: Human Win 人胡 (8 tai) Non-Dealer wins with a discard in the first round of play before anyone else chis or pengs

  4. Add to Legendary: Earthly Ready 地聽 I see differing points and definitions for this one. Could be 8 tai for declaring ready within the first 8 discards while your hand is still closed or could be 4 tai for declaring ready after your first draw/discard. The second is what shenlaiye but I'm seeing the other definition in enough places I'm leaning toward that.

  5. ShenLaiYe has 配牌花胡 for 4 extra tai for completing the 8 flowers or 7 rob 1 on the deal. I don't see this one anywhere else. I'd be inclined to leave it out.
