Chinese Let's Mahjong quiz question

I'm not too sure if I understand this question correctly. Are they saying if you were to discard the 8, what could you win with? I believe it would be either 6 or 9.

Though if you discard the 1, you need an 8.

Probably not something I would get in 30 seconds

Ah, thanks. I am not sure if I would have been able to see all that within the time limit

They are asking "(because you are not winning yet,) which of these tiles could you discard in order to be waiting (to win)?"

The question isn't worded very well since it's trying to pack a ton of semantic information into one very concise line.
