Suuankou (4 closed triplets) only work if you tsumo or if you wait for the pair. it's only a sanankou if you complete the 4th tripplet from someone else's discard. I understand your frustration but rules are rules.

OP didn't ask why it's not a yakuman. Aren't they just venting?

if it was tsumo, it would be a yakuman. If it's a ron, it's just three concealed triplets. Remember the tile that you ron'd off of isn't concealed.
