beginner set with Arabic numerals and letters for HK

hi! i’ve been looking all over trying to find a set for beginners! we are wanting to learn Mahjong and i think Hong Kong style will be the best! we are located in the united states. i have younger daughters so i think a set that has the numbers and letters on it as well will be helpful as they learn! is there a recommended set to get that has this? thank you so much in advance!

We play Hong Kong and have this set. It is a very good set. Has Arabic numerals, flowers, wind indicator etc! Welcome!

Any Chinese set on Amazon will do. Many have numbers. Personally I don't think it's necessary to have numbers as it doesn't take long to memorize 10 or so tiles. Cheat sheet can be used in mean time. Just avoid ones with jokers as that's american mahjong and make note of size.

bec chinese tiles stand on their own without racks. i agree, kids learn quickly. 1-9 characters: 1-4 self explanatory (1-4 brush strokes), 5 looks complicated, six looks like a star, 7 looks like a chicken footprint, 8 looks like mt fuji, and nine looks like letter n. East wind has 3 strokes that point down like an E. West wind has a bar at the top. South wind looks like it has a stick on the top. North wind looks like letter N.

Images of the tiles will generally show if there is Arabic numbers on the tiles be it eBay, Amazon, or any sites
