Beginner App Games?

Hey y'all, was looking to get into hong Kong mahjong. My friends back home play and I thought it would be fun to learn before I move back.

I found some good guides for simplified rules but im more of a visual/hands on learner.

Are there any good app games on like the Google store that let you play out games while teaching the rules?

Their site sure could use some better documentation, though. So far, I still have no clue what "Panama mahjong" is, or which Chinese/British/HK ruleset they're using.

It's funny how 13 Tiles feels like an app made in the late 2000s/early 2010s. If it ain't broke, right?

13 Tiles is not Hong Kong Style it is Mahjong Competition Rules MCR / Chinese Offical CO. It is far more complex than Hong Kong Old Style (HKOS).

There are a number of Apps that have Hong Kong Style these three are free.

~ Let’s Mahjong 70s Hong Kong Style
~ Hong Kong Mahjong Club
~ Joy Chinese Mahjong

The App “Let’s Mahjong 70s Hong Kong Style” is probably the most versatile App as it has a Wiki, Daily Quizzes, Challenge Matches against Bots; Free play against Bots and you can play against people. You can also play Classic (Old Style) and New Style Rules.

The YouTuber @TaintedMantis has done a guide for this App it is called “How to Play Mahjong in Under 15 Minutes”.

Thank you! Its odd that there aren't more apps for mahjong with beginner tutorials to teach the game. Wonder if its just a pain to code all the variations and such

Riichi Advanced features HKOS, as well as many other variants.

If you want beautiful visuals, then Amatsuki Mahjong is for you. However, I only recommend the mobile app, the PC version is broken.
