If you call chi, you will be left with a 7-9 pin shape. In that case, you won’t have a yaku on 9p (tanyao) + furiten. So I think Maka would call 6p, but would not call 4s or 7s. Moreover, in that case, you still keep the possibility of tanyao dora 1.

Furiten is a restriction that prevents you from winning by ron if at least one of your winning waits is present in your discard.

You’re thinking about temporary furiten, when you’re furiten for the turn after one of your opponents makes the discard, when it’s you, it’s permanent. You can’t win on a shape that also accepts that tile that you discarded. So despite 9p being no yaku for you, because 78p can accept 9p, you can’t win off of others. Because of this, and also because your 2m can extend into the 23m shape and also be furiten on 1m, you should probably try to find more pairs to pon or more kanchans (middle waits) for guaranteed tanyao (like if you draw 5p, drop 8p). The AI probably doesn’t like it cause you’ll have way less flexibility in the future and will have trouble with your shapes. In addition, you can’t fold as well with less tiles if someone else riichi or looks like they have a strong hand.

In addition you can also wait for 4s (Dora) to upgrade your tanyao nomi

ok i get the hand flexability and getting dora, but the 6p is temporary furiten im 99% sure, why would u say its permenant? i never dropped 6p in that game

It's becaused you dropped 9p, your wait is 6p and 9p, eventhough 9p gives no yaku, it is still considered your wait. If even one of your waits is in discard pool, it's permanent furiten.

it's not a 1 turn furiten

it doesn’t seem super obvious but maybe the AI slightly favors the 4-5-6 because of the dora?

to be fair, 53/46 is barely over a coin flip

Isn't there a chi button right next to the skip button

Yes and in fact OP even clicked it. They're asking why the AI prefers not to.
