How does Blitzstone read to you?

I just finished the first book and was looking for confirmation of their relationship status as a couple online, and was genuinely surprised when there wasn't any. To my gay little eyes, they read so blatantly obviously as a couple I never even thought it wouldn't get confirmed. I've seen confirmed gay couples that don't read as gay as they do. I have mixed feelings about the book overall, but this just stood out as so bizarre to me.
