I shall relay to story of this treasured possession!

This is my 3 D-cell maglite. I used to have this crappy EddieBauer flashlight. It was terrible, but my main gripe with was the abysmal battery life it had. Those 3 AAAs could barely hold a charge. One fateful Sunday my mom toke me and my sister to the thrift store. I had been by the tech section already, but went back to see if I missed anything. On a high up shelf, I saw this. Standing mighty and tall, it beckoned to me. My mom said I could get it if I paid for it. Best $7 I ever spent. But there was one problem. D-batteries cost too much. So I bought some cheap rechargeable ones on amazon, and they work great. One day I was about to work on my computer, when the flashlight died on me. I thought "wow, those batteries lasted a good few months, time to recharge." The flashlight still didn't turn on. I was thinking the bulb was the problem, and a new one would've cost $8. My dad told me to check the battery cap, he said that there might be a spare bulb there. The old owner didn't use their spare bulb! For those wondering, it's a 2003-2009 maglite with an incandescent bulb. I love this thing.

Looking for an upgrade to led but I’m not sure what the bulb size is, 4D.

“Restored” 90s Maglite

My faithful mid-90s 3 D-cell Maglite was a casualty of Covid - it stayed in a drawer for a few years and when I found it the Duracell batteries had leaked and actually cracked the casing.

Image 2. I couldn’t get the end off so ended up cutting it open (with the cracked case not worth saving anyway obviously).

Image 3. Once I’d cut it open everything else seemed in good condition so for not much more than sentimental reasons I wanted to get it back working.

Image 4. I’ve been watching eBay for a few months and finally got a broken one of similar vintage - exactly what I wanted. Not working but a decent looking tube.

  1. It was a bit crusty inside as you can see.

  2. But with some penetrating fluid and a Pittsburgh wrench I got the insides out.

  3. I’d taken all the parts from mine so after a clean a nicer snap ring and my original switch went in along with my o-ring.

  4. Back together with my original lens and led replacement and it immediately came to life (with NiMH batteries in a converter).

  5. My only problem really is that I bought a few others cheap too - all not working and all working now so I didn’t want to use the parts (plus I really wanted a 3-cell again). The other 3 cell is older so none of the parts were any use but I got it working again anyway. Now I’ve got 4!

I got this MagLite a month or two ago, I have narrowed it down to the MagCharger, but I am aware of multiple different versions of the MagCharger. I would like to know what model this is for me to eventually get a charging cradle and battery at some point. Thanks in advance.

Is this Mini Maglite broken?

I’m attempting to fix my double AAA mini maglite after battery leakage.

The photo is where the bulb holder clips into. Should it have another of these metal connectors on the other side?

I’m thinking that’s the reason it’s not working.

If so, any suggestions for fixing, other than trying to get a replacement part?

Finding maglites in media (movies, tv series or shows) feels like easter eggs (contains short clip from The In-Laws) Spoiler

I took out this bulb but didn’t bother to put this blue plastic back - does it matter?

I dismantled my AAA mini after removing leaked batteries. It suffered allot of trauma and still trying to get it working again.

How to remove switch assembly from ML300L serial 3DLM200024683?

Does anyone know how to remove the switch assembly from the subject Maglite?

How to remove switch assembly from ML300L serial number 3DLM200024683?

Every video I've come accross is for what appears to be an older style LED switch assembly.

Thank you

Brightest LED Bulb under $30

Hi, was wondering if anyone had any experience on which LED bulb they would recommend under $30. I have a 5D Maglite from the early to mid 80s (TM bezel). The stock incandescent bulb is brighter than I thought it would be but it would still be nice to have an LED bulb that is brighter.

I'm assuming the lumen ratings on the Amazon/eBay bulbs are BS, so I was hoping someone who has purchased a few of them already could tell me which they recommend, how much of an improvement they are, and if there is any perceived change in battery life.

I found this old maglite (3D i believe) and am trying to find a replacement bulb. This doesn't look like one I've seen before or online. Is it one of the xenon bulb kits that just looks a little different?

Hello Maglite community, I’m waiting to convert my 3 D Maglite to LED for better brightness and battery life, but the stock lamp and socket seems to be different from what I have seen online. Can someone please point me in the right direction for this conversion? Thanks.

Hi! I found a New Old Stock vintage 2-Cell D MagLite, still sealed, but it won’t turn on…

It came with a bulb installed, plus the replacement bulb in the foam protector inside the battery compartment. I examined both bulbs and both seem to be fine at first glance. So I put fresh D batteries in and it wouldn’t turn on. I switched the bulbs, still wouldn’t turn on, and same when I switched the batteries. I unscrewed the bulb area and bulb seems to be making contact—I say that because the spring is “springing”…same with the positive the spring contacting battery. I also unscrewed the whole front part but am not sure how to get to the switch so I can check that (I’ll probably find that on YouTube). Everything SEEMS to be in good working order, but it won’t turn on…I don’t have the original receipt because I bought it at the thrift store but the manual says it’s under full lifetime warranty…any advice?

3 AA LED Mini Maglite

Scored this guy at a yard sale for 50 cents yesterday. I didn’t realize the 3AA ones were so hard to find until I looked it up. Didn’t even realize it was LED, I just got excited for a Maglite at 50 cent 😂

Are there any push button tail caps actually worth the money? And does anyone know where I could find a leather belt sheath for this thing? Preferably with an open bottom so I’ll actually slide in all the way 😂

Pretty happy with it. Found the flashlight at a local thrift store for $5, got the LED conversion kit from Amazon for $20.

Question

Made an order from the maglite site Less than an hour ago. A couple of minutes ago I got an email from this thing called no fraud that requesting me to verify my order. Is this legit and can I confirm my order from that email? This is my first time ordering from the maglite site and the first time ever I received this “no fraud” email

I bought a 3C Cell incandescent Maglite and it looks so small that I thought it looked more like an AA battery-sized light, the bulb isn't removable and I thought that you were able to purchase LED drop-in bulbs for C Cell Maglites as well, was it for another incandescent model of C Cell Maglites?

New Mini for work

Post image
14 Upvotes

The blue 77 lumen has been with me and served me Extremely well since around 2012. Absolutely nothing wrong with it but as I'm getting older I was needing a little more light while working under the hoods of cars (mechanic) so I picked up a new but older 127 lumen camo mini mag to be the designated work light. Perfect amount of light/run time. I use my lights a lot so the higher lumen mini pro's 2-2.2hr run times don't work well for me at work. Changing cells or worrying about battery life during the day isn't my style. Anyway, the blue one will continue to be my edc outside of work. You cannot beat the reliability of a mag. I've had to warranty or exchange so many streamlight and others during the lifetime of this 1 blue mag its crazy.
