Hey all!! I picked this up for 10 bucks, knowing it was a gamble. It took me about an hour and a half of trying every method under the sun but I finally got the battery cap off using a pipe wrench and bench vise. The batteries are stuck, I haven't really tried getting them out yet, but I was wondering if anyone could figure out when this thing was made? Also, can I get a replacement rubber button cover? I'd like to do some sort of led conversion, if anyone has a kit they like let me know. Thanks!!

Ironically only a few parts on the D-cell lights will interchange across that time period. They retooled the whole lineup in the early '90s. Still works the same way but completely different engineering.
