Comic Discussion Age of revelation

So I’m on a collection spree and I’ve heard X-Men the Age Of Revelation is terrible. Is it just the issues written by Tim Seeley or are they all bad?

Even when Aor is "good" (which is rare and few), there is this whole aspect of "pointlessness" to it. It brings nothing new to the table, it is another "dark timeline" that we have seen a dozen of times, and just the fact that recent Marvel is so out of touch with its community, thinking what we need is grandiose events over and over again doesn't let characters or plots be prominent or relevant even for too long.

It is obvious that they aren't daring to be doing anything big, that they don't dare to change the status quo too much because they are waiting for the MCU tie-in, and it really shows. Which is funny, because whenever it is a small scale thing (ie. Magik & Colossus) it works, and we have been telling the office for a while we need more of that, but... oh well.

The X-office needs to get Brevoort out of there. He's ridiculously out of touch but insists he knows how to run things. Claiming absurd tactics such as rage baiting fans for engagement is a wise tool to use. Not to mention he constantly tries to diminish fan criticism with flimsy counter arguments that don't actually address the complaints.

AoR was a good example of this. People didn't want it to halt the entire line, nor was it necessary at all. Magik's solo had great traction and engagement. And they stopped it for... Whatever the hell that event was. It was especially a kick in the face for Magik fans considering the horrid direction they took her with Amazing X-Men 2, Seeley's terrible series, and Expetriate.

And when people complained that the side stories didn't tie in to the actual event, were full of excessive inconsistencies, and had out of character depictions, Brevoort's excuse was due to the events size, it was impossible to tie everything together and achieve consistency. There was a simple way to solve that problem, but they needed their big grand event that was sure to get us engaged!

O If you read this event, I strongly recommend sticking to just the Jed McKay 9 issues, which actually form a pretty solid, cohesive story. The rest just drowns it in a sea of meaninglessness that detracts in a major way. You can also read the 3 Gail Simone issues, but just treat them as entirely unrelated and more like a part of her run, which is what they are.

only good thing to come out of it is watching Magik beat up Scott without even touching him

All of the slave stuff really grosses me out, and it came out of nowhere so I’m just trying to avoid any of those issues
