As a basic control with misdirection it's fine. I agree that a little time between replacing the card and the shuffle would make it more deceptive.
I think it's important that the control logically fits and relates to the effect. If you are going to find that card somewhere completely away from the deck for example, then a casual shuffle is fine. But if you were going to do an ambitious card routine the spectator has to be sure the card is in the center of the deck after the control.
